Chucked it away after lunch. 3 dismissals all avoidable. Still at least we gave it a better go than I thought we would.

As soon as Archer slogged those 2 consecutive 4s you knew he'd be out the same over. What a shame! He was playing quite well until that rush of blood.

Missus says that they can't give Ben a knighthood because it's too soon after his Bristol fracas. Fuck that ~~ Sir Ben it is then.

Stokes is so greedy.

Most people would be content with having the innings of a lifetime just once this summer, but no, he had to have TWO.

Last i’d seen before I went back to sleep (working nights) we were 310/9 still needing another 58 then woke up at around half 4 and couldn’t believe my eyes when cric buzz said we’d won by 1 wicket.
Now I’ve just seen a clip of that missed run out by Lyon with 2 runs needed, Leach was miles out of his crease how the fuck did Lyon mess that one up?! :eyes:

I had a ticket (ballot) for 2nd day of 4th Test at Old Trafford and I cannot go because I'd forgotten I was on holiday when I entered the ballot. I put it on Gumtree about a week or so ago and not one enquiry, so I returned it to LCCC to be re-sold and got my money back. When I checked my phone a couple of hours after the second miracle of Headingley I'd been absolutely inundated with enquiries many of them from Australia. My holiday is the proverbial Holiday of a Lifetime, but I really wanted to see a days play in an Ashes test. Maybe next time.

Aussies lose the Ashes from here unless they give Wade the gloves and drop Paine for the lad from Glamorgan whose name I can’t spell. Give Smith the captaincy back. They’ll have to swallow their pride for the sake of the Ashes.

Wonder what changes we’ll make for OT.

I think England can regain the Ashes from here, but considerable changes need to be made. The top 4 or 5 is just not functioning. Some new blood at the opening position required and some jigging around of the whole batting order. Possibly bring Foakes in for Buttler.

Jimmy in for woakes probably although that weakens the batting even further. Roy might get dropped too. Butler also is a waste of time at the minute.

If Jimmy's fit then he comes back in, but if not then I'd probably swap Denly and Roy around and leave it at that - Denly has earnt his place with that 50, but Roy is at last chance saloon. Could argue for Bairstow at 3, Root at 4 with Stokes/Roy/Buttler at 5/6/7 which would provide plenty of firepower through the middle order, but I'm not sure we'll see wholesale changes to be honest.

That’s my worry. Tail starts at 8 if Jimmy replaces Woakes and our batting’s dodgy enough already.

And you just know Stokes will get a pair!

Whilst Smith comes back and knocks another 100...

I still fully expect the aussies to win at least one test, they are better than us, our batting Is laughable.

So is their batting. We were all out for 60 odd and they couldn’t bat us out of the game.

Yep theirs ain't much better but smith was missing remember. They are a better side, if this series was in aus it would be another 4 or 5 nil.

After seeing Tim Paines interview yesterday I really like the guy, really gracious in defeat even after that not out LBW, can you imagine if that was Ricky Ponting being interviewed straight after the game if he was still captain, he’d have been going off his tits!

I can vividly remember when Broad scored that 167 v Pakistan. I watched some of it in a pub in Rochester. How times have changed. He's King Rabbit these days.
