Talented maybe but the lure of white ball cricket will make sure that we rarely see the level of test wickets taken by the likes of Warne, Broad and Jimmy over the years happen again
I do have to agree, the rise in mercinary cricket is big, sadly.

Nasser Hussain in commentary “Warner keeps getting starts but not converting them he really needs to step up here for his team”.

Next ball Chris Woakes to Warner - Bang goes his stumps.

Wood gets Smith. Get the feeling that one more wicket and that’s pretty much left the Aussies resorting to a rain-dance if they weren’t already.

Let’s hope the rain holds off tomorrow!

What is the opposite of a rain dance?

Look well set I think .

Another brilliant day from England. Started with Bairstows 99* and then followed on in the field. Ever since Wood and Woakes have been added to this bowling lineup it’s just added a whole new dimension to the England attack.

I thought you had every day off apart from your signing day.

Great patter

I've never signed on in my life, despite how I can appear I have a career.

Jammy Aussies .

Looking at AccuWeather which is usually reliable there might be a window from 1pm to 5pm where there’s no rain today. Give or take however long it does to clear things up (check the outfield etc) and players have a quick warmup that might allow for up to 2 hours worth of play today fingers crossed if that turns out to be the case.

I think realistically for the final 6 wickets we’d need the equivalent of 3 hours worth of play over the next two days to wrap it up. If we are lucky and there is play it’ll be damp and overcast so swing should be on offer regardless.

I reckon this might be it for the day but it’s more cricket than was being predicted yesterday and we got Labuschagne out.

All I’m asking for is 2 hours tomorrow, new ball due before long and also it is spinning quite viciously now that would be enough to seal the win I think.

Yeah shame but we can’t do anything about the weather unfortunately.

It’s a real shame that ultimately the weather will prevent us winning but we’ve benefited from it enough in the past I guess. Been a brilliant performance from England, just have to replicate it at The Oval and draw the series.

Maybe playing better in the first two test matches may have helped.

Playing against a team that didn’t cheat would’ve helped too.
I don't recall anyone cheating in the series?

Always best to check you are not on gravel before dropping your lolly.

Kinda funny how the one test in the series where one team has really dominated the other is the one that's ended in a draw. Today and yesterday have been frustrating in the extreme of course but then again... I guess that's why it's important to go 2-0 up in a best of five sporting event that can be later curtailed by the weather, ain't it.

I dunno, results speak for themselves and Australia are 2-1 up and no matter who you think is the better team I think you have to respect what they've done and how they've done it and why we haven't. First two tests England made too many mistakes (dropped catches mainly eh) and they just played steady and solid, maybe unspectacular, yet ultimately good enough cricket. And they got the wins while the weather was good.

Fair fucks tbf. We'll just have to beat them down there next time round.

This is by far not a decent Australia and is no way near par from the great sides of the past, Don't really see you guys winnning in Australia though just too many mistakes in the team unless they iron all of that 'calamity' out.

I disagree and agree.

Think with Warner (apart from when Broad bowls at him), Khawaja, Smith, Labuschagne, Cummins, Starc, Lyon (until the other week) you can't say you're not decent. But at the same time yes, you're certainly a level or two below your great sides from down the years.

Cheers for the advice, next time I’m eating a lolly I’ll make sure I’m stood on a pavement instead.

I'm 73 and I'm hoping I'm still around when we realistically have a chance of reclaiming the urn and that will be 2027.

I would like to see Bancroft back into he squad maybe living in hope of returning to the glory days but that maybe becuase of the rise of mercinary short form cricket.
