I should have been more specific and said biggest FA Cup upset in 20 years, as we've beaten a few big boys over the last 2 decades in the League Cup. But our FA Cup record has been abysmal since we drew away at Everton in 01-02. Only other results which come close are beating Rotherham in 17-18 and that's about it. Had a couple of half decent draws, but it's slim pickings.

.. so, are we putting these Crewe posts in the Tinpot thread then, is that what's being discussed here?

Sutton now face Horsham after Barnsley kicked out for fielding an ineligible player.

We’ve been on both sides of an ineligible FA cup player incident in recent years - both times the game was replayed rather than any expulsion, would expect Barnsley to use both examples in any appeal.

Edit: Just read their statement and they’re holding their hands up to it.

I got excited when I saw the headline on the BBC website. Then I saw that Horsham had been reinstated. Still, if we play our best we could potentially force a replay!

It's not often that you can win, lose and draw in just a single tie

Taxi for the Barnsley secretary.

Crawley were training at Horsham's ground until this season, and quite a few Crawley fans (yes we only have few) go to Horsham when we are away, so I wish them well.

Must be strange for Sutton though. Going from 'if we play well we could...' to 'my god this is a banana skin'.

We also had to repay the fixture a couple of years ago when Cheaterfield fielded an illegible player.

Not sure what the difference is?

Didn't Chester lose an FA cup tie, got reinstated as the club who beat them fielded an ineligible player, thus made Ipswich their opponents, then they were so impressed with Jon Walters, they signed him for 200k or something stupid?

Yes, they was against us. Quite a while ago that now.

Ah yeah I remember now it was Bury. I knew that that tie had turned Walters career right round to be as succesful as it was.

I think our game with Charlton is quite hard to call. Home games tend to be pretty tight but we have a decent record at Priestfield, while Charlton are an average League One side with an above average forward in their ranks. I'd like to think we could give them a decent game (maybe two) but I don't expect progression from the tie.

Bristol Rovers at home. I was shocked to see we've only lost 4 times to them in 25 meetings.

They seem like they can't work out who they want to appoint since Barton left. All sorts of rumours flying around. Will they have a new guy in place in time for Saturday? Will it help or hinder them?

They've got some good players there in Collins, Martin, Evans and a few others. But their away results aren't great, so definitely an opportunity to progress. Must avoid a replay at all costs, can't afford one at this point with the squad still really stretched. I'll say narrow defeat, but hoping that we can sneak past them.

Maidstone away for us and a plastic pitch.
Robbie Gotts is still missing under concussion rules and Pete Wild is in the stands after his sending off at Colchester (1 match ban).
A potential banana skin as all games against non-league clubs are, but if we play as we can it should be winnable (fingers crossed)

7/1 for us to win at Oxford, cracking odds IMO as I’d expect Oxford to be focussing more on the league and maybe rest some players and our lot will still be out to impress Artell.
I actually fancy us to get a result there although I think that’s probably because of the games we had in last years run.

..and with over 1300 tickets sold to Horsham fans they are also sniffing an upset!

I don't expect anything other than a battering from Bolton.

We're obviously going to battered into rock at Blackpool, and Horseman still won't be sacked

Will be having 5/2 Shrews dependt on the Notts lineup
The way the players looked Tuesday night I expect there will be a lot of rotation. From what Williams was saying after the game I'd expect to see Gosling for at least a half.

Not expecting a big crowd either looking at the available seats when I got mine, looking forward to it all the same.

So am I, gonna be bloody cold though. I will be a bit pissed off if we do our usual cup thing of playing a totally random team of people out of position and lose, proper opportunity to get through.

Looking at temps over the next 24 hours, definitely touch and go about whether or not our match at Oxford will be on.

We've sold about 800 tickets apparently. Was hoping we might hit four figures but this is on par with Cambridge in the second round last season.

Is it true Notts County not even sold 3k for tonight?

Freezing Friday night cup game against Shrewsbury you expect a decent drop off but that seems crazy low.

Notts County hate the FA Cup. Repeatedly disrespect it.
