Just not a place i’ve ever had to bother with, somewhere london way, like someone asking someone from london where Alfreton or Altrincham are
I've definitely had times supporting Town down at that level when I've got my tickets in advance then got on the train and had to look up where I'm actually going geographically.

Yeah, i mean football is good for geography but only for proper clubs/places, like when we had hayes & yeading etc. like who?

I don’t really bother with away games south of birmingham unless it’s for a weekend or something riding on it. The furthest south i ventured last season was walsall

In fairness Bromley actually get decent gates these days, nowhere near the one man and his dog that go to watch B Wood or Maidenhead.

They get a funny contingent of Palace ‘lads’ turning up for big games as well. Someone tried to chuck a wheelie bin at the away end when we got a late equaliser there last season.

Absolutely outrageous, hope someone told them it's wheelbarrows that you lot are into.

Nobody knows where any of those Southern based tinpotters are.

The response is always "down London somewhere innit?"

Pretty much, usually a complete dump just 3 times more expensive to get beer

Haha yep pretty sure I've said "which tube line is Eastleigh on again?" at least once over the last decade.

Of course your squad is better on paper than ours, it's probably about three times more expensive.

We've had a better window than you so far though, so that gap has currently closed at least temporarily. The pluses in our column are that we've got a better manager at this level than you and from what I've seen you're more of a collection of individuals than us, there seems to be a bit more cohesion to our recruitment.

You’re still miles away from achieving top 7, IMO. I’m not blown away by your signings, either.

Only Vernam might get into our starting XI and that’s on the proviso he finds his 2021 form. He’s done nothing for 12 month.

Give me Clarke Odour, Kevin McDonald, Andy Cook, Ash Taylor and Alex Pattison over that dross anyday.

Opinions an’all that.

Rose, Mullarkey and Rodgers would be challenging for slots in your lineup. As would Glennon, Waterfall, Maher, Hunt and Clifton. So yeah, only about half of our current squad and half of our new signings.

Someone on the Lincoln forum debunked the Vernam myth to some degree. His appearances are quite out of whack with his minutes. Lincoln didn't exactly play to his strengths by the sounds of it either.

Never even heard of those players. They ply their trade at Grimsby. Doubt they’re much cop.

Hope you're right. For the record though, I'm not saying we're nailed on by any stretch of the imagination. Just that an already solid side has been improved.

Can't remember which thread it's in but Indian Dan keeps referring to disappointed fans this year, I reckon Grimsby will be one set of those fans.

I don't see it with them. Soz my Coddy friends.

It’s the same every season, though. You convince yourself you’ve recruited well, can see the POs as a possibility only to get kicked in the nuts after 6 games when it’s obvious you’re shite. 4 teams will get promoted, 20 will bomb out. How many of those 20 are convinced they’ll be 1 of those 4?

I‘m not leaving my team out of that. We could well get our hopes dashed too.

You got me there.

I just couldn’t be arsed responding, but I suppose I’ll have to now.

Rose wouldn’t dislodge Andy Cook.

Regarding the defenders you’ve listed, defending wasn’t an issue for us last season, barring corners. Glennon has half a chance at replacing Ridehalgh, but new boy Clarke might well have already done that.

Again, you might have improved your squad since last season, but you’ve a lot of dross in there still.

Nothing is going to dislodge Andy Cook other than a JCB after all the summer kebabs.

Club interviewed him the other week - he’s lost weight since the play-offs, that’s for sure.

Truth being told, a fat Andy Cook is still a very capable striker at this level.

I’d expect him to hit at least 20 next season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he surpassed last seasons total of 31- he’s the ultimate poacher at this level.

Rose wouldn't be there to replace Cook though, he'd be doing his running for him and winning those balls that Cook isn't capable of moving for. Rose and Cook could be a very effective partnership at this level.

I'd be interested to hear specifically who you think is dross in our squad other than Eisa too?

We play 1 upfront, with Jamie Walker, Harry Chapman and Alex Pattison in behind.

Rose ain’t getting anywhere near our starting XI.

I consider most of your squad dross purely because there isn’t one player who I think walks into our starting XI.

I think most of us at GTFC will be happy with continual improvement the next couple of years and our signings have undoubtedly improved us from last season IMO.
Whether that’s a good enough improvement to make the play offs who knows but if we don’t get in them this year I’m sticking my neck on the line and saying we will definitely be in them the season after as long as Hurst is still here as the owners will not be happy just stagnating in League 2 like under the previous regime.

I like rose, but he wouldn’t be starting here, he’d make a great sub.

I bet we had Rose and Cook at the same time? The latter rarely played though, just never worked.

I’d have cook, just sadly didn’t work out, he seems to think our fans don’t like him for some reason - i thought it was a shame he left tbh.

Rose, meh, wasn’t really ever good enough for me.

Cook just did not work here, he’s been brilliant at Bradford but I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides he cannot be arsed again after being easily upset.

Long as he keeps playing should be good again for the upcoming season.
