Aguero has picked up a slight niggle to the broken rib after having a car crash. More bad news for City.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Fuckng typical. Mendy done for nine months in a tackle he didn't need to make and now Serge out for two in a car crash.

Could have been much worse looking at the pictures of the car, so got to be happy that he's only out for two months. Could have waited until after Chelsea though, FFS

Bit of red faces I suspect at Man City but mixed in with some relief the injuries aren't worse.

Could sway the league, its a shame for him as he never gets a full run without injury.

Apparently the injuries aren't as bad as first feared and he could be back in two to four weeks. Could have been a lot worse!

Fellaini has done his knee ligaments. playing in a game of absolute no consequence.Every international break we are guarenteed at least one significant injury. Just fuck off and die please international football.

Leaves us very short in midfield with Pogba and Carrick already injured. Tuanzabe I think showed he can play well there last year and we could always use Jones or Blind but its vital that Pogba is back soon and that Matic and Herrera stay fit or we may as well hand city the trophy now.

I kinda suspected letting Peirera go would come back to bite us on the arse and I suspect the worst is yet to come.

Well for Belgium the result didn't matter but for a few others it did...

He had already missed a match in the week through injury and Martinez himself commented on his fitness. Not playing him on a mudslide of a pitch would have amounted to nothing. more than due diligence.

But its quite clear that international. managers and associations couldn't give a toss about the ramifications of their actions.

Every break a whole horde of players go back to their clubs injured, far more than you would expect on any given weekend. Its pretty obvious due to the sporadic nature of international football, managers are playing players that shouldnt be played.

I could understand if it was only important qualifcation deciders but we are talking about walkovers, deadrubbers and meaningless friendlies too. Its obvious that they want as many minutes as possible for cohesion. They couldnt care less if their players get injured, why would they? They dont pay the wages. and by the next international break the player will more than likely be back again.

Personally I'd be happy if international football ended tomorrow world cup n all. But I get that isnt a very popular opinion for a number. of reasons. But I think its clear to most people the current system is awful. Even those who love the world cup wince when the international break comes round. There is just too many of them. Friendles should be stopped completely and all qualifiers played as a block before or after the season. That way we dont have to the disruption to the season and international managers will have to take care of their players fitness.

Doesnt Fellaini only get those games because they're walkovers, dead rubbers and meaningless friendlies? Witsel, Naingolan and De Bruyne are the first choice midfielders arent they? Maybe Witsel isnt anymore, but then Tielemans...

Fair points but then somebody else's player might have played and got injured..

They are thinking of playing more qualifiers in a block and having less International breaks in a season.

To think Liverpool were better than us for the mainstay of the 2000's now they rue the absence of mediocrity like Mane. It must be difficult for the fans but I'm not complaining, Liverpool's loss is very much our gain :ds:

Mane would walk into your side (he's ten times the player Sissoko is thats for sure) as he would probably all the top six clubs, he is far from mediocre. It's also funny how you now deem yourself a top club when for so long of your 'history' (even Huddersfield have more leagues than you yet!) you have been a failure and living in the shadow of Arsenal and Chelsea. It wasn't that long ago you guys were bottom half mediocrity for years.

Both teams will have all the hype and expectation but probably end up winning nothing once more.

Yep as always with internationals. Baily out injured and Rashford forced go the bench with a knock.

Unbeleivable injury list.

Zlatan, Rojo, , Baily, Carrick, Felaini, Pogba. So our best player, last seasons top scorer,Imo our best CB and a host of players who would be playing otherwise.

I hope you are referring to Bailly rather than Rojo.

I honestly think its Rojo, certainly was last year and he has not really had a bad game for us there across 3 seasons. He is a very inconsistant left back but I have never been anything but imoressed with him as a centre back. Baily is still very raw, Smalling is so poor on the ball and Jones is a liability, his hospital ball today leads to a goal on another day. He just makes too many ridiculous mistakes

I like Rojo too and agree that he has improved a lot but I'd put Bailly at the top of the list despite the rawness that you mention - he definitely needs to improve on that.

Callum Wilson, approaching fitness again after pretty much two calendar years out injured with two ACL ruptures, has now scored 5 goals in his two u21 games so far. And apparently is breaking his sprint test scores from before his injury troubles started. although how that can work I've no idea. But it brightens up my dreary south coast Tuesday. I hope not too much expectation is heaped upon his return, but it's great for the bloke.

He's spent much of the last couple of years doing so much community, youth, charity and other ambassadorial work around the area, and seems a very genuine bloke. I'd be delighted if he comes good again, not just for our results but for him as well, cos he deserves it.
