Just for that im gonna sign Mane and Lallana to go with Firmino. Good luck surviving the Christmas period.

Still pictures of Coutinho's ankle look horrendous, foot facing the wrong way.

Coutinho will be out for 5-6 weeks. Not as bad as I thought. We should cope fine if we bring in one additional attacking player.

Surely you just move Firmino into Couts position and play Sturridge or Origi.

Apparently Klopp has said Coutinho was in agony just after it happened but a few hours later the Brazilian was saying it wasn't too bad. Fingers crossed it's a matter of weeks rather than months.

Five to six weeks is a long time to be without your best player but it could have been a lot worse and it's not like Firmino, Mané and Lallana haven't been doing their fair share of the attacking work lately.

There's never a good time to get an injury but your fixtures from now until the 31st of December are easy (hence why I predicted you to be top of the table at Christmas a month or so ago when I browsed the fixture list) and I think you'll cope just fine if Klopp rotates/lightens up the training to obviate the dangers of a packed schedule.

Don't forget Mane will be going to AFCON for about a month. That is two of our front 3 missing for majority of the games. So we definitely need to sign someone to play along one of the front 3 position. According to rumors we are looking at Julian Brandt.

Chance Coutinho returns for the match at Old Trafford, then. I agree with JJ, this should be a chance for Sturridge at striker. They desperately need Lallana back now, without him or Coutinho, they are significantly less effective transitioning between lines and breaking down organized defenses. I think those are the two most important players to the attacking play we've seen under Klopp.

Mané will be departing just as Coutinho is ready to make a return so I don't think the injury should force Klopp's hand to make a signing - he doesn't seem like the sort of manager to make rash decision like that either. For all I know you've been keeping tabs on Brandt for a while and always intended to bolster the squad a little in January so I'm not ruling out signings, just questioning the reason for making them.

Yeah I don't think we will sign a player just to cover for a month. But depending on how the squad is we might get our long term target earlier.

The way it was looking I feared he'd be out a lot longer. Good to see its 'only' 6 weeks out, so he can still play an important role in the second half of the season.

Bolasie to miss rest of the season. At least he won't have a blinder against us now!

Sportsbild and others are reporting that Gundogan has ruptured his cruciate ligament and will be out for six to eight months.

He was.

He's had a spate of injuries since the major back that put him out for over a year a few seasons back - injuries in different areas of the body but that are probably a knock-on effect in some way to the first major injury he suffered.

What a pity! Just when he regained his fitness after a long injury. A small consolation that the World Cup isn't next year, he already missed the last 2 tournaments for Germany due to injuries. He's like Marco Reus. Everytime he plays you have to worry that he gets another injury.
Get well, Ilkay!

It never rains, but it pours. Callum Wilson ruled out for the rest of the season with another cruciate ligament knee injury. He still hadn't fully recovered his pace from the last one.

Stuck in a bit of a rut at the moment, this will only hit morale at the club all the more.

What other options have you got up front - haven't a couple left?

Yeah we sold Glenn Murray to Brighton. Also loaned Grabban to Reading and Quigley to Gillingham. No idea if there's recalls in those, but if we have to use them at this level then we are in trouble.

Options are limited to Josh King or Afobe. King did well up front last season before Howe started trying to crowbar him into some quasi-midfield position this season. I hope we revert back to King up front, with Afobe as the alternative. Leaves us pretty light though.

Mostly I'm just gutted that such a promising well rounded English striker, who should by this point be on the cusp of much bigger things than Bournemouth, is being wrecked by these knee injuries.

Gabriel Jesus will be out for two to three months, according to unconfirmed reports.
