Actually with the VAR I do hope DC has told Nathan Smith just to be careful with some of the stuff he tends to do in the box such as pushing off and holding opposition players. Can get away with it in a normal L2 game but probably not with the VAR.

they don’t tend to give those decisions in the premiership unless it’s really obvious.we all do it.

So either he is really obvious or he gets away with it.

I'm not sure what to expect on Saturday. Clearly Mansfield have improved dramatically since their early season form. But what caused that poor form in the first place? Injuries? Or have they still got a shocker in their locker? Ironically, their up turn in form almost started against vale. Played us off the park at their place and we scraped a draw. The game at vale was a bit more even....Mansfield looked dangerous in attack but conceded 3 really soft goals. I noticed that their defending against FGR in the last game was also very dodgy, however they defended superbly against Northampton the other night.

Midfield is where we look weaker, although it is made up for through incredible work rate. Our defence can be a bit up and down but we kept a clean sheet against a free scoring Swindon the other night for 120 minutes.

We're likely to be without Proctor which is a blow but the young boy Harratt really has a good work ethic and scored 2 against Mansfield last time.

It will all come down to who is the most switched on on the day. After nearly missing out on the playoffs but for a win at top of the table Exeter and then nearly losing the tie in the first leg and then again in the penalty shoot out, it feels like our luck may run out at some point.

Injuries and suspensions. We lost Perch early doors and the centre backs we had at the time were shite. Moved Hawkins from centre forward and bought in O'Toole on a free and coinciding with Quinns return from a 6 match suspension and players like Hewitt starting to put some decent performances in results improved drastically. Even during that spell we never got beaten badly, Northampton away was a shocker but other than that most games were drew lost by one goal.

We had a lot of injures but we just weren’t performing either quinn was suspended for 6 games - they were roundly booed off in a 2-0 defeat at northampton in october but beat them 1-0, 2-1 and 1-0 afterwards.

We’d had a decent defence before salford and looked dodgy as, we did the same against FGR and looked the same - he changed it back against northampton and we look solid again.

If our midfield turns up it’ll help massively (eg if quinn plays)

Looks like they’ve started emailing out the ticket pdf’s this evening. Still can’t believe the robbing c*** have the nerve to charge a printing fee on the ticket price but never mind. Starting to feel real now this game.

Quinn is fit to play isn't he?

bloody hope so!

our midfield works through him.

It’s someone like Lapslie you’ll want who can match the running of Garrity and Charsley.

That said whoever Mansfield pick there you can’t go wrong with some of your options.

i like(d) harry, he’s a good lad and puts lots of effort in, sadly his quality on the ball was never going to get him close to starting regularly for us.

i’d like to see him start bowery, leave longstaff
out - the wembley pitch is big and bowery is ideal to make the most of it.

Yeah he’s tidy enough on the ball but not someone who will change a game with a defence splitting pass etc. Suspect next season when we get Tom Conlon back it means Charsley will be competing for one spot with Garrity. Been a good bit of business both ways signing him though, think we gave you a fee of some sort and he definitely filled a need in January.

I think for us the news all will be waiting on is Proctor. We were able get away with it against Swindon but his ability to make the ball stick up top and then let the midfield run beyond him and Wilson work space around him is crucial to how we attack.

I like Charsley but after Thursday can you drop Jake Taylor? Especially as he is more of a Conlon type good on the ball midfielder rather than a ratter like Charsley?

Key battle that midfield mind, we need to suffocate Quinn like we did Johnny Williams on Thursday, as he is as good as Williams and so would stick Petty on him possibly, he ran the show at Field Mill.

Bookies cant separate us and its probably that tight to call, should be a good match up and occasion with the back story of Clarke and the two decent owners.

If Proctor isn't fit I am going with Harratt, he would enjoy the space of Wembley I think and offers us pace and was outstanding Thursday, harsh on Edmundson though! I would keep both if we can next season on loan/permanent although think Huddersfield really rate Harratt.

What are the odds on us finally getting a penalty for the first time this season!?

Can't see Laps starting, decent option off the bench though

I wouldn't put it past both teams getting a penalty through VAR

Yeah, the one I’m dreading is if we score and everyone starts celebrating before the words “VAR Check” appear on the screens. Way to kill a moment.

Yeah I'll get flashbacks to the Larkin disallowed goal in 2004 the shear joy followed followed by a gut punch when it got disallowed, although had VAR been around then the goal would have stood!

We've only experienced VAR once as Vale fans... it gave Man City a 4-1 win against us instead of a 2-1! As if they needed the help! Mike Dean was on it.

Thankfully there was no VAR needed for our goal or it would have killed the mental and hope its not one of those moment killers at the weekend.

I agree. He's got a good attitude Harry and will run all day but he lacks physically and hasn't quite got the quality on the ball needed. If Walker and Conlon were fit he wouldn't be in the team but he's done a job for us, so a pretty good deal.

I like Bowery. I hope he doesn't play. I also like Lapslie...always caused us issues so I'm surprised he's out of favour.

The Prime Minister shouting "Up the Vale!" at PMQ's is not something I ever thought i would see... thats all the neutrals in our favour lost!

Never mind neutrals between that bellend and the hanger-on prick Gullis it’d almost be enough for me to cheer on Mansfield.

He’s a very good footballer but the problem being is we need pace - him and quinn can’t work together, clough also has a fasincation with lucas akins who’s basically crap (though he was much improved against northampton last weds)

I mean that’s just my take on it, longstaff does contribute with assists and goals just not sure on such a big pitch.

Not my decision mind.

Yeah might do this, obviously I live 10 minutes from the M1 and was going Stanmore but this looks although further away a better option and money saved on parking can cover the extra mileage, allows me to travel in on the tube with Valiants rather than Stags fans!

think we might be doing this now too though i do frigging hate the tube.
