Annabelle: Creation
Thought it was very good for the most part, the jump scares were done very well but it fell victim to the same thing like in the first one. As soon as you see the demon you lose the atmosphere and scariness. Miles better than the first Annabelle film.

The best thing is there's a lot of 1970s Dario Argento style shots, with the zooming in of eyes and what not. 7/10.

A good film starring Jude Law and Nicole Kidman set in The American Civil War,brutal at times and drops off a bit in the middle but picks up again so well worth watching. 7/10.

First time i've seen this it wasn't brilliant but watchable, god knows what make up they used on Weaver but in some scenes she looked the spitting image of Michael Jackson in his later years  And Ron Pearlman was ott as usual. 6/10.

Cathy come home. (1966)
A thought provoking film/drama from the BBC concerning poverty and homelessness which I first watched just over 50 years ago, it made me aware of people's frustration and despondancy with the welfare system back then, and to a degree, even today.

Emoji Movie

Watched it with a six year old. Not AS bad as I had expected. I think some of the absolute demolition of it is a bit bandwaggony. Chuckled a couple of times and my little girl enjoyed it.

Worst offenders for this? Jeepers Creepers has to be up there. Dare I say The Babdook, for fear of getting lambasted?

John Wick Chapter 2 (2017)
Enjoyed the first film but only saw bad reviews on this but i thought it was very good with Keanu Reeves shooting lots of bad guys in the face  After being double crossed by a mafia boss in Rome he escapes back to The US where a $7,000,000 hit has been put out on him cue gore and a high body count. 7.5/10.

Henry V [1989]

Kenny Branagh venture with a star-laden British cast, doing a fair job of the great but overly patriotic play.

8/10

Really good fun, has plenty of re-watch value. Samuel L Jackson is so good. 8/10.

The Tuskegee Airmen (1995)
Based on a true story of Black American airmen who have to fight against racism to be able to fight against the Germans rather than just be used for transport first of all in North Africa then Europe where the become one the best performing squadrons of fighter escorts for bombers and as their record the white racist pilots refuse to fly unless they are assigned on raid over Germany. This was so much better than Red Tails that was released about 10 years ago which was dull. 8/10.

Double header over the weekend:

Every which way but loose - 7 out of 10

Any which way you can - 9 out of 10

A really fun double header from Clint Eastwood which really should never have worked yet seems one of them films where you mix everything wrong together and it makes a right.

First flim has Clint as Bare fist fighter chasing a woman across Colorado along with an orangutan while being chased by a couple of cops and an inept Biker gang, while the second film see's Clint's fighter forced into a fight vs a dangerous rival while still being chased by the inept biker gang.

Second for me scores much higher as the first had a much thinner plot, but the best thing about the films is they have small bits of everything, some comedy, some action, some romance, some drama...all mixed together in a free and easy way which makes the films very easy to sit through.....add in some decent Country and Western backing tracks and some good fights and it all ties together.

plus well the films are worth it just for every scene with the 'Black Widows' Biker gang.

Black Souls - 7/10

Italian film about a young man who follows in the footsteps of his crime syndicate uncles rather than his goatherding father. Violence ensues. Excellent cinematography but a very slow burner of a film

First Knight (1995)
I'd forgot how shit this film was it's probably the worst film on King Arthur ever made and that includes the 1950's hollywood version starring Robert Taylor and Ava Gardner and the awful film with Clive Owen. 2/10 as i'm feeling generous.

It
Bloody good.

Bill Skarsgård was excellent as Pennywise and Finn Wolfhard has a huge future. Casting was perfect and it had the right mixes of comedy and horror. Hopefully chapter two will be as good. 8/10.

Alien: Covenant
Thought it was good, the pacing was perfect but it was let down by pretty poor CGI. 7/10.

Broken- 8/10. A gripping drama set in an estate. This details three broken families and the consequences that occur after a man is beaten up. Quite Ken Loach like. Interestingly it was produced by Bill Kenwright's film company

United 93- 8/10. The events of 9/11 still seem so surreal. Very powerful film although it does have the Hollywood gloss attached to it.

I watched It. It was very good and enjoyable, and it felt similar to Stranger Things in that it wasn't an outright horror, occasionally funny and had that kid in it. Possibly I'm simply too brave to be scared, or maybe I'm not brave enough to emote in public.

It was on the other night. I caught the last 15 minutes or so. Seen it before and it is very powerful. What would you do in that situation?

Five minutes into Transformers 5 and this might be the worst blockbuster material I have ever seen in my life. Bafflingly horrible. I can't believe they thought this was appropriate for release.

One of the few chic flick type films that I really enjoyed.

5 minutes in, and this? Glad to see you go into this with an open mind...

For what it's worth, I think that the Transformers series is pretty fucking awful too, so much so that I've not even seen the last couple yet. But at least I wait for more than 5 minutes of the films to pass before writing them off entirely. Fuck me, I even give the fast and furious films more time than that, and they make Transformers look fucking Oscar worthy.
