Hitman: Agent 47 (2015)
A good violent thriller starring Rupert Friend,i like these sort of films as they shouldn't be taken too seriously as there is often humour where you wouldn't expect it. 7/10.

A bit of a mouthful for a film title but nonetheless, a film I thoroughly enjoyed.

Halloween
It was a bit meh for me, it felt a bit lazy. Like it couldn't decide whether they wanted Michael to stalk slaggy teens like in the original Halloween or just walk down the road and butcher absolute nobodies. All I can really say with any degree of accuracy is Michael Myers isn't scary anymore. 6/10.

Everything, Everything (2017) 4/10

A typical coming of age love story, and good chemistry between the two main leads. A film based on the novel about a girl with a rare immune disorder and the boy next door who slowly fall in love. Starring Amandla Stenberg, Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose and Ana de la Reguera.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016) 2/10

Not a great movie i just wanted it to end the whole time, a bit of my life i cannot claw back. What a waste of 90 minutes with such a great cast. Starring Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Christopher Abbott and Billy Bob Thornton.

I oddly enough found this movie rather satisfying, unfortunately the film was harshly slated by the critics.

Chuck (2017) 7/10

The story of Chuck Wepner (Liev Schreiber) nicknamed the "Bayonne Bleeder" who was most famous for fighting and knocking down Muhammad Ali in 1975, the story here is fascinating and worth telling with one aspect that Schreiber is perfect in his portrayal of Wepner down to a tee, a decent movie with a great cast. Starring Liev Schreiber, Elisabeth Moss, Naomi Watts, Jim Gaffigan, Pooch Hall and Morgan Spector.

Deadpool 2 (2018) 8/10

Pretty decent enough for a watch, if you like the first movie you'll probably like this one too. I found this one much more funnier and much more violent with far more creative action sequences. Deadpool 2 delivers........The parachuting scene was wicked. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz and T.J. Miller.

Eye of the needle:

Bloody good suspense war film I’d not heard of before until I seen it on Netflix.

Donald Sutherland playing a ruthless German spy in England trying to smuggle out the plans for Normandy back to Germany before being caught.

Very good, could have done this film in 3-4 other ways and be interesting but way they went was enjoyable

Snowpiercer (2014) 9/10

This is an unbelievable movie. I was very impressed, original, brutal, haunting, fast-paced, and brilliantly acted. The film begins in the extremely not too distant future as mankind launches a final attempt to halt the spread of global warming once and for all, on a high speed luxury train that can circle the globe without stopping. Starring Chris Evans, Song Kang-Ho, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton and Octavia Spencer.

Rollerball (1975) 6/10

Imagine being a stuntman on this movie, this dystopia film has it's moments but still a good movie for 1975, with lots of action with James Caan fighting for his identity and free will from the creepy guy that's in charge of the corporate. Starring James Caan, John Houseman, Maud Adams, John Beck, Moses Gunn and Pamela Hensley.

Eddie Brock is a journo who gets on the wrong side of a maniac scientist, resulting in him being joined with an alien parasite and then has to save the world from a resulting invasion. A lot more comedic than i was anticipating and the effects were great

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Took The Child to see Smallfoot over half term.

Expected a silly, fun movie about bigfoots being scared of humans. And to an extent we got that. What I didn't expect was the clear allegory towards organised religion and its relationship to critical thinking, with a splash of fake news.

Some funny moments. A real 'WTF' mini twist near the end, and overall pretty good.

And I've seen it's got some religious bloggers knickers in a right old twist, which is a bonus!

Ready Player One (2018) 7/10

I enjoyed this Spielberg film it was really fun and a good movie. The action is breathless and non-stop, both in the virtual reality and the reality reality, as the characters jump around from one challenge to the next, It is nostalgic pandering to the 1980's also with some late 70's as well. In fact it's based on a best selling novel. Starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.

Public Enemies (2009) 8/10

This is a very good film, with Depp and Bale performances of brutal clarity. As John Dillinger would say i rob banks his way of introduction, a very underrated gangster film with a great cast mainly focused on Dillinger who basically just wanted to clear the banks out. He had no exit strategy or even retirement plans. Starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Rory Cochrane, Billy Crudup and Stephen Dorff.

Insomnia (2002) 8/10

Another good film from Christopher Nolan very skilfully directed with Pacino and Williams who are very good together, a really good thriller with Pacino as the sleep deprived detective who has been sent up north to help with a local investigation, a very powerful film with a lot of psychological depth. Starring Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hilary Swank, Martin Donovan, Maura Tierney and Jonathon Jackson.

Skyscraper (1996) 1/10

This is a abysmally bad movie about a Los Angeles helicopter pilot (Anna Nicole Smith) who finds herself caught in a hostage drama. Anna Nicole Smith, bless her soul is not an accomplished actress, probably one of the worst I've seen, but she was all the rage back in her day where she liked to proudly get naked a lot with her enormous large breasts, btw, are sweet as a nut. Starring Anna Nicole Smith, Richard Steinmetz and Branko Cikatic.

Some even regard this to be not one of Nolan's finest, I find that hard to believe. A fantastic film indeed!
That'll be One Hour Photo (2002) another psychological thriller. Williams serious films are always good ones.

Passengers (2008) 7/10

A decent film in it's own right about a handful of plane crash survivors still coming to terms with their experience. With a great performance from Anne Hathaway who dutifully applies her talents to this worthy cause. Starring Anne Hathaway, Patrick Wilson and David Morse.

Powder Blue (2009) 7/10

I thought this was a great movie about a pattern of people desperately searching for redemption, human connection and restored faith within the sordid part of Los Angeles. And eventually on the eve of Christmas their lives will cross paths by chance. Starring Jessica Biel, Eddie Redmayne, Forest Whitaker, Lisa Kudrow, Ray Liotta and Patrick Swayze.

Bohemian Rhapsody - 6/10

Getting an American to play Freddie was a stupid idea with his accent at times terrible & generic fake English. As a young Freddie I thought the acting was awful and not believable at all - as he gets older though the performance turns fantastic as he grows into the role.

At times it was inaccurate with colleagues at work then telling me "it's not about that, it's about the music" - for me this is an easy generic answer for someone who doesn't know anything about Queen or Freddie & loved it because they played Queen songs throughout. Overall, I did enjoy it - Live Aid scene was simply incredible - it was perfect. Just sometimes there were some things made up that just didn't sit right with me that felt too dramatized.

I kinda get some of your criticisms, but films based on true stories are always over dramatised and are given artistic license to make them more viewable.

Anyone wanting something that is 100% accurate to events or people should watch documentaries, not films. I don't feel that this film should suffer in its critical analysis when every true story movie does the same thing.

Look at Braveheart. An excellent movie, even though most of the actual events in the film bear no resemblance to what actually happened.

I would agree on casting Rami Malek though. Were there no English Mercury lookalikes to cast instead? Whilst I wouldn't have been a huge fan, Sacha Baron Cohen would have possibly been a decent fit. Studios do it all the time and I too find it very distracting. Like, watching trailers for the Outlaw King on Netflix and seeing Chris Pine put on a terrible Scottish accent is cringeworthy.

True, maybe I’m being too much of a fan boy about Freddie & Queen. I just felt that with Freddie’s life, he certainly didn’t need anything dramatized tbf

Mile 22 (2018) 5/10

I'm a bit of a sucker for Iko Uwais film's so he's one of the main reason's i wanted to watch this film. As per usual he doesn't let his fans down with some remarkable action sequences, while it delivers plenty of action the film doesn't have the desired effect of coming away thinking in terms of 'wow' what a great film that was. Also disappointing not seeing Ronda Rousey showing off her fighting skills. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan, John Malkovich, Ronda Rousey and Iko Uwais.
