What a set of bollockless little wankers our players are. Aside from the fact that we couldn't beat a team who were already down, we also failed to beat a team who had 10 men and an outfield player in net for the last 12 minutes of the game. Passing it around the back 4 and inviting pressure when we had everything going for us, then quite literally stopping and letting an unmarked Col U player score with the last kick of the game.

It's still in our own hands but realistically we're not going to beat the champions elect at their own gaff. This team isn't ready to go up.

Not technically in your own hands if scunny better your score by 3 goals. You won't beat wigan so you'll be hoping we do you a favour. I hope we don't tbh

Well yeah it's not technically in our own hands but you'd have to literally roll over for them and you wouldn't do that . . . would you? :animatedf:

Football's a funny old game so we could well go and beat Wigan but we've an appalling record against them and they're far and away the best side in the division so I think it's between Scunny and Gills now. Defeatist attitude I know but I can't help but feel like that after witnessing such a farcical bottlejob this afternoon.

Normally I'd be worried about Scunny flying into the top 6 but us and Millwall are in good form too. Will be an interesting set of games, could not pick a clear winner.

He'd get the best out of your naff squad.

Reminds me of Hudders fans, 'I'm not bothered if we lose every week as long as our pass completion rate is above 85%...'

It might be kick and rush anti-football but if it works it works.

I'm not PP's biggest fan, but there's far more to our game than just hoofing it forward.

We have played some decent football recently.

But if we play shite we are still usually difficult to beat, can't imagine why most teams in this league wouldn't want to be like that as every team play shite at some point.

Hanson has only started 2 of the last 12 games. If PP was a kick and rush manager that wouldn't be the case. I call him pragmatic. We can play football and we can (and do) mix it up when needed. The PP stereotype now, however, is lazy.

And by the way, PP joined us almost 5 years ago now. A season after finishing 18th in League 2. Since then we've finished;
7th in L2 -Play off Winners and League Cup final.
11th in L1
7th in L1 and FA Cuo quarters having knocked out two Prem teams.
This year between 3rd and 5th in L1.

Long reign Parky.

To be fair, Bradford are the best team I've seen this season. They ripped us apart at Glanford Park and then edged it away from home, I can easily see them winning the Play-Offs.

Lets be reight, when PP was touted for our job there were enough Bradford fans saying they wouldn't care if he went...and I'd be surprised if either set of fans would've taken him over Adkins. Theres no hard and fast way out of this league and no manager guarantees success, even a manager with 3 promotions from this division on his CV. If we were to sack Adkins tomorrow and appoint PP theres no guarantee he'd be any more of a success, in fact whilst I'd swap league places I still wouldn't swap managers.

Parky very much had a mixed approach with us too, not afraid to go direct and long ball when needed but we also played some of the most quick, attacking and exciting football I've ever seen us play. His record at Bradford is superb, and that's before you throw in the cup runs too - of which we also enjoyed our fair share.

I'd agree Sheff Utd are in a different position to us as their budget is much bigger. They should be building a great side at this level. It's laughable that you haven't managed it already. For us it's about doing the best with the squad we have, as Mighty Bantam says, mixing it up when required and generally being solid but unspectacular, which is his forte.

It's stupid to say he plays exclusively long ball or that you wouldn't want to see your team win more often, which he would do because he'd come in and sort the basics out. His record is second to none in the lower leagues and it's probably for the best that he has this rep of playing awful footy as anyone else would have been poached ages ago.

I haven't actually said either of those things. Purely that there is absolutely no guarantee he would come in and get us up & winning more. Before this season Adkins' record was second to none, he's had his hands tied behind his back due to previous management errors and I doubt PP would have done any better.

Adkins achievements at Southampton are a little overstated. He inherited a squad containing the likes of AOC, Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin, Fonte and Puncheon. I know that at that stage not all of those players had developed into the players they would eventually become, but even I could have got that side up.

There's no guarantee for anything but there's evidence Parky would come in and make you tight at the back and figure out a way to make you hard to beat and eventually you'd start winning more, because he's done that at both his jobs in this league.

As I said before Sheff Utd seems to be one of those clubs where expectation is high not only for results but performances, and in some respects it's justified due to your budget, but you've obviously not found a manager who can achieve both yet so it's not that simple. And you're a fool if you'd pick amazing performances over good results.

Back to back promotions to the PL is good by anyone's standards. And 2 promotions with Scunthorpe from L1.

There was evidence Adkins was a good manager who would easily get us up...not happened. He'd have come in to a club that finished last season with no recognised cb's in the squad and no budget to sign more players, ala Adkins his hands would have been tied behind his back. I still back Adkins over PP as a manager. No manager should be judged when they come in, get rid of over 10 players and only have the budget for 2 permanent signings. Next year will be a far more accurate test of his abilities.

You keep calling me stupid/a fool for things I'm not actually saying.

I haven't called you stupid. Some of the same themes and phrases that people consistently aim at Parkinson over the last three years on this forum are stupid. Unless you've mentioned some of these themes then you're not stupid.

It's all unquantifiable really as Parkinson won't go to Sheff Utd as he's not their style of manager, and even if he did he wouldn't be in the same situation as Adkins. I really can't see Parkinson going anywhere for a long time as he is too unfashionable for Champ clubs that want to 'play football', he's too mild mannered to be brought in as a hairdryer for some Champ club in dire straights and there's no point going to many clubs below us in the league. He's in his niche at the moment.

Our success comes mostly due to sorting our defense out. It's been absolute years since we've had a good defense, a lot of this is due to most managers deciding to play Niall Canavan. We've finally (albeit on loan) got rid of that absolute waste of space and time and built a strong defense. We brought in Murray Wallace on loan from Huddersfield and he was an absolute revalation, ended up signing him permanently in January and he hasn't had a bad game since. We've also stopped swapping and changing our RB (mostly due to injury but still) and we're always playing Jordan Clarke there and he is an absolutely magnificent player, one of the best Full Backs I've ever seen play for us, some games he runs the show from RB. Alexander also plays Hakeeb Adelakun who is by far our most dangerous player, Robins didn't want to play him weirdly.

Can't believe we still have a chance, even if results go for us think we'll manage to screw it up some how
