Just for reference, Saturday and Sheffield United/Oldham before that is why I'm ALWAYS negative. Regardless of whether we win 4 games in a row, have good players, do good things, are having a good season - when push comes to shove we will ALWAYS bottle it. It doesn't matter what anybody says, the outside opinion, the media, any other outside opinion - this football club will ALWAYS bottle the important game, the match, the run, the occasion, the lead, the half - anything and for that reason, I'd sooner live a football life in a negative mindset - until I'm proven consistently wrong.

This is just a load of bollocks considering I can remember three Walsall promotion seasons in 20 years of conscious football support, including a dramatic play-off final in 2001 where the Saddlers held their nerve to beat a much-fancied Reading side.

I can't help but think some of it is kidology.
If Walsall win tonight it's down to 3 points. If they win and we lose the weekend it goes to the final day and we have donny away
u have everything to fight for.

I've only supported us since 2004, we got relegated in my 1st season, relegated in my 3rd season, then in fairness, won the League 2 title and have done nothing but be average, miss out on chances and avoid safety since then. 1 season from 12 where, even then, we won the league winning 1-0 and with only 89 points. So no, it's not a load of bollocks even remotely.

It kind of is. You're talking about your experience, which ain't even that bad (you've seen your club win a league championship and soon to finish in the top six of a league that you're never expected to do well in), and are discounting the rest of Walsall's recent history which has been their most successful period ever.

Walsall keep themselves in it but burton have come good again so can't see them only getting 1 point out there last 2 and Walsall winning both. Or a pretty big gd swing

Certainly made it interesting for the weekend.
It's no where near cut and dry.
We need to win. Said before, don't want to have to get something at donny who need to win to stay up.

I've supported Latics 25yrs, and for the first 5 it was mainly relegation after relegation (after the cup heroics of ours which I was too young to appreciate) and then 20 bastard years in the same division, one in which we are still in today.

Yet id still not be as pessimistic as you!

That's not physically possible.

The gist of what I'm saying stands - it's clearly not 100% accurate.

No you are 100% correct. I wouldn't mind them to go up saddler could have some positivity

Message to Gillingham......its time to stop being shit now. Think of the irony of a win on Saturday. Knock Burton down into the playoffs, knock their confidence and then beat them in the play off semis. You know it makes sense. Now how much was a ticket in the Burton away end again? ;-)

Trouble is, if we win at the weekend then Millwall may have a chance of getting autos at our place the following week. The thought of that makes me feel physically ill.

excuse my thickness and ignorance , i never knew of the Gills Millwall rivalry until this thread. Barely been in the same league for years ? How far is it distance wise and does the rivalry go back years ?

It's not that it's a rivalry, it's more that Priestfield will be over-run with tower-block dwellers. If there's something riding on the game, things could get very very nasty off the pitch.

I see, highly likely given small ticket allocation. Based on Rovrum away last year in Championship they still like a ding dong.
