Our u21 side is unbeaten in 10 maybe we should be playing them instead of the current 1st team.

Barnsley did exactly the same last year and fell short i feel they will do the same. Burton and wigan for top 2. Gills, millwall, walsall and peterborough for playoffs i reckon now.
We did, but we hit form much later on in the season. We were 19th in the middle of Feb, won 6 in a row then faded. We've enough time left to have a few crap results before hitting decent form again.

We won't finish in the top 6 though. We've won 7 on the spin just to get to 10th, it's not going to go on for much longer and we'll do exceptionally well to put a run of results together like this again.

Burton and Wigan top 2, Gills, Walsall, Posh and Millwall in the play offs.

Worst league 1 for years and we're struggling to stay in it.

Sums us up completely.

As for Blades - go and get Cotterill

Adkins has lost the plot since old trafford hes using that gameplan now in league one. Its awful everythings in slow motion

I'm not ruling out Millwall for an automatic spot.

Form side in the division after Wigan, and they're only 9pts behind 2nd.

1. Wigan
2. Millwall
---------------
3. Gillingham
4. Burton
5. Coventry
6. Walsall / Barnsley

Whilst it'd be good for a side like Walsall to get promoted, I just think they'll fade away whereas Wigan & Millwall have the momentum now to keep going.

Unless we can sort out our home form, we will do well to finish in the top six. Still got Wigan, Posh, Burton, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe to come to the Den. Guaranteed at least one of those will give us a spanking.

Heading into the final third of the season the race for automatics is getting more intense.

Burton still sat in a strong position with a game in hand, still grinding out results. Walsall also have a game in hand on us who have kicked on in the last few weeks. Unbeaten away since September and unbeaten in 9. Squad has been strengthened and we are scoring goals for fun. Gillingham have gone off the boil as of late but still very much in the race if they can maintain the home record they have had throughout the season. Coventry sliding down the table can't win a match at the minute. Millwall coming into form look like they should secure a playoff place. Southend and Peterborough will also be challenging for the playoffs capable of putting a run together. I don't think Barnsley quite have the power to push into playoffs nor port vale unless they start to win more games away from home.

I think Wigan have found form at the right time and starting to play some good stuff.

Prediction:

1. Wigan
2. Walsall
----------------
3. Burton
4. Millwall
5. Gillingham
6. Southend
----------------
7. Coventry
8. Peterborough
9. Sheff United
10. Port Vale

To be fair we have won as many away games in the last four away games than the first 12 so it does seem to be improving but needs to be consolidated to have a chance of the PO

Not sure what we would take. Most always say 'if we ever get to Wembley we'd sell whatever' but I am not sure. I think we could manage 45k with the bandwagon lot.
When was the last time your lot played at Wembley?

Surely you'd get 40k+ there?

Id guess at 1987
Just been catching up on this thread, haven't read it for a while - do you seriously think you'd take sub 25k to Wembley for a PO final?

It would have to be more than that surely? You're averaging nearly 20k at home this season and you've been gash - in a city of 600,000 you're bound to get some day trippers.

On our last two trips to Wembley we've taken 45k+ each time, we average a few thousand less than you at home and are in a less populated city.

Wouldnt be many more. Constant losses in playoffs have had a huge effect. Plus it would be our 4th visit. If we got there for an fa cup semi again then i have no doubt wed sell out but defo not for a league one playoff. Btw you cant of taken 45,000 vs hull max allocation will of been 39kish

My bad, that's naive on my part I forgot they kept some tickets for media and such. Whatever it was we took that day, we sold it out almost instantaneously; but then again for the richest game in football supposedly it's hardly a surprise.

FA Cup semi's at Wembley, eugh.

Tbf it doesnt matter where they are to us we lose the fuckers every time. Same with playoff finals. All since 1993 these.

Old wembley. 1 fa cup semi
1 playoff final

Cardiff. 1 playoff final

Old trafford. 2 fa cup semis

New wembley. 2 playoffs,1 fa cup semi

Also 2 league cup semis in there too and 3 other playoff campaigns. Along with 3 relegations and just 1 promotion. Now that is what i call 1 big fuck up of a football club.

I think we have the worst PO record in the country. It did belong to PNE before they beat Swindle last season, I think it's 9 PO attempts and still never won it. Horrendous.

I thought we took over that crown but could be wrong. We've definitely got the worst PO final record

According to wikipedia:

◾Most play-off participations without winning final: 8 – Brentford, Sheffield United

?

Yeah, we have never been to the new Wembley. The last time we went was in 87 for the Charity Shield. We took 60,000 that day, which some argue is the highest club following at Wembley.

Everton only took 20 odd thousand then?

Getting back on track, we have an intriguing few fixtures coming up, beginning tomorrow with a localish derby home against Chesterfield followed by games away at Southend who we have a bit of history with and then a top of the table clash at home to Walsall. This game could even be a sell out as ticket sales are going really well with both sets of fans! After this there is the small matter of a visit to Bramall lane and the return of Nigel Clough to the Blades !
Exciting times for us and this could well shape up our prospects regarding promotion.

70 tickets left for away fans apparently, so far they've only been on sale to ST holders and those supporters with both a home and away booking history. We'll sell out, general sale starts on Monday for any remaining tickets.

Our next three fixtures are Crewe away, Wigan at home and then the visit to Burton, I think we will know a lot more about our promotion prospects after the last two fixtures.
