Thought Burton were much the better team today, but how much of that was influenced by the red card I don't know. I couldn't even believe he was going to book Edwards when he reached for his pocket, let alone to see him pull out a red. Laughable, but will wait to see the replays.

Also thought the first looked offside - Akins was near enough on the goal line when he scored and didn't appear to have made a run to get there either. Again, will wait to see a replay of that.

Never a red card. Not even a yellow. I was probably as shocked as you were and it killed the game as a contest. As for Akins goal...I've seen the replay and I think your no.2 (Garvan?) is just playing him on...and yes, we play the refs. It's something I hate about the game now but we used to get taken to the cleaners by opposition teams when we first got into the football league for being too much of a soft touch. Rowett made us a bit "wiser" and Jimmy brought his own brand of professionalism to our game. Do I feel the need to apologise for it? I'll be honest and say no because I've seen a lot worse from opposition teams, especially in league one where I've found it to be more prominent. Do I wish it didn't happen at all? Of course I do. I fucking hate it.

Genuinely sorry to see you get relegated because I spoke to some of your lot both when you came up here last year and today and they were probably the most level headed and realistic supporters I've met in years. Some of the more cretinous amongst our support could do with being a bit more like that. Keen seems like a decent, honest bloke as well. Hope you bounce straight back up.

Personally I have nothing against teams like that, wish we had a bit more of it to our game too. Might be a pain in the arse to play against but it is up to you to deal with it, surely.

Agree with you that having seen the replay of the goals Akins is probably just onside for the first one, it was definitely tight though. The red card is still baffling, even more so that the referee had an absolutely crystal clear view of it.

Oh well, we would have gone down even with a win yesterday so it doesn't really matter. The best thing yesterday for me was the incessant booing of Duffy after the red card incident when he wasn't even the player involved haha, idiots.

One of ours got sent off last year against Southend for an elbow the referee seemingly imagined. I was right behind it and the reaction from myself and everyone around me was identical to the one you see when the lad gets the red yesterday. Arm barely raised, no intent or sign of intent, player hits the deck, red card and 3 match ban. I'm not excusing what happened yesterday. I'm just saying our refs are shit and stupid. Andre Marriner reffed us at Coventry and the difference between him and clowns like the one yesterday or the one who did us vs. Wigan on Tuesday is like night and day.

I think Fleetwood and Chesterfield will stay up. Chesterfield will get the result they need on Saturday and Fleetwood have Crewe on the last day which I think they will win. Shrews may lose tonight but I think they will beat Peterborough and possibly us on the last day. Blackpool have Wigan and I don't expect them to win that but I do have a feeling that Doncaster will win their last two. I don't think it will be enough for them though. They will end up on the same points as Fleetwood but go down on GD. So if my sums are correct I think the bottom 4 will be as follows -

18 Shrewsbury 54 (1 point against us, but could be 3, being generous to us)
19 Chesterfield 53
20 Fleetwood 51
------------------------------
21 Doncaster 51
22 Blackpool 46
23 Colchester 40
24 Crewe 31

Could be completely wrong of course but looking at the fixtures this is my prediction. Good luck to all involved, just glad we're not! We were on 51 not too long ago and people were saying we were safe. I always had a feeling 51 might not be enough this season and never felt comfortable sitting on that total.

Chesterfield will beat us on Saturday to confirm their safety. Between Doncaster and Fleetwood for that last spot I reckon.

In other news this hilarious red card has been rightly overturned today, albeit not much good to Saturday's contest.

Find these rescinding of cards frustrating, the horse has bolted, recall us having keeper sent off at Rovrum about 5 years ago and lost 5-0.. Rescinded in the mid-week following the game. Not saying Burton would still not of won last weekend but 71 mins for 10 men is a huge ask, referee should be struck off.

Agreed, it had looked fairly even until then but we did clearly struggle to cope with the ten men. Would have definitely been much more of a contest at least.

If you sacked a referee every time they make a mistake we'd have none left

Doncaster all but gone.

They would need to win their last game, plus they would need Fleetwood to lose their last 2 games, with a 12 goals swing in there too.

That run over 10 straight defeats or whatever it was, did for Doncaster when they were actually 'relatively' safe at christmas.

Safe at last, as the saying goes. A routine 3 zipper against a Bury team who were probably considering Marbella or Mallorca during the game.

Well done Danny Wilson...it was looking a bit grim when he arrived.

Sparing a thought for Donny as a team local to me with a decent bunch of fans...make sure it's six points against the Scabs next season yeah?

Wasn't the 10 game run that did for them. That just cemented it. All went wrong when they appointed dickov.

Phew!

Dunno how he's done it but Wilson's pulled off some kinda football miracle given the mess he inherited. If ever there was a recipe for relegation the Powers That Be at our club cooked it up this season.

Hope the Bury players enjoy the holidays they were clearly thinking of yesterday, too.

Genuinely sad to see Donny down. Friendly town, club and fans and a local derby off our list.

Gotta say Blackpool will get the same sympathy from our fans as they offered us when we suffered at the hands of a corrupt bastard fifteen years ago, though.

Anyway, guess we'll be signing out of this thread...well, until August, that is...

A daft thing to say. It's quite funny that you lot obviously took it so personally though.

Yeah, how dare anyone at those pesky little clubs around the mighty Bowels even hint they might not be the most mahoosive outfit in the history of everything.

But not that mahoosive their fans don't get wound up by tongue-in-cheek comments, mind...

Danny Wilson miracle v John Sheridan miracle. Who gets your vote?

For me personally shez had a far bigger job on his hands but then again I'm biased

Only two with us.

So four in total.

He's been promoted 3 times.
