The problem teams face with coming down is they have over paid players not worth their wage which is why they were relegated in the first place. So a budget of 5-7 million is not always reflected on the pitch.I'd say with a budget of 5-7 million you should be competing at the top end of the table. My team (Swindon) had a budget of 1.5 million this season and I'd say for most clubs it's probably going to range between 1 and 4 million.
I think when we came down our budget was in the £4 million bracket for the first season, but that included players like David Bell, Gary Mcsheffrey, Cody Mcdonald. That's a million down the shitter right there for almost zero productivity on the pitch.
