Nearly missed it was sure it was 7:45pm KO!

Giving young Hurst and DTS a first start. Very experimental side that.

Tranmere pretty much full strength apart from Vaughan.

I wouldn't have made so many changes. I've seen tranmere are playing Otis khan jay spearing Murphy in goal think were going get thrashed now.

We apperantly look absolutely dreadful in defence again, I’m not watching it tonight for obvious reasons but I must admit I am concerned, wish we kept Pearce.

Decent half, DTS and Hurst have done well, DTS really getting stuck in. We’ve had the only real good chance when Manny headed over close in.

Games there for the taking.

Not watching the game and could care less about the result in this one but it’s good Manny has got some minutes tonight and Montano for that matter. Tonight has been a success for that alone.

Played well, better side but toothless up top. All the fringe players did well. Positive for the season ahead.

Sonny Lewis started for us tonight, at 15 he is the youngest player ever to represent our club, in both forms.

Our current form suggests we will draw 0-0 against Stevenage in the first league game and then lose on penalties.

A 0-0 draw every game should be just about enough to keep us up.

2-0 up with a youth team, a 15 year old scores the second, our youngest ever scorer.

Silly sending off and it's 2-2.

Win 5-4 on penalties, feel sorry for Harrogate lad who missed their last one, but chuffed with our chaps.

862 at the Abbey this evening. Capacity was capped at a thousand so I think the fact we didn’t sell out our first game in six months speaks volumes about how we view this competition.

Haven’t read people’s experiences of being in the ground yet but I know there were one way systems in place and fans were required to wear a mask.

We had a bizarre team out with a CM and a CB playing wing backs. We played well in the first half and went 1-0 up. Second half was a different story as we just sat back and Lincoln battered us. Took us to pens and beat us.

Some promising signs but we desperately need those injured players back.

Doncaster 0-0 Bradford City FT - lost on pens.

Strong Donny side against our fringe/kids - we made 11 changes in total from the weekends game.

Yeah shit competition, etc. but it sounded like the kids did themselves proud. Very young team out there tonight. Anyone know how strong a team this was from Harrogate...

I thought it was an even game at Vale Park tonight, but we should have won it with two good chances in the last ten minutes.

We looked fitter and more of a team than on Saturday, but in reality it was the final pre-season game for us.

Vale seem to have decent depth in their squad and I was impressed by a couple of their fringe players. However, I thought Kieron Morris was the best player on the pitch.

Beat Brighton U23s 3-2 with goals from Sam Ling, Danny Johnson and Conor Wilkinson.

Last 5mins we threw away a 2 goal lead, then Lee Angol missed a penalty, then we nearly lost, then Conor Wilkinson won the game with the last kick.

First 70mins was a decent enough performance against a side that dominates possession, off the ball we worked hard and took our chances.

Last 20mins we missed a good chance for a 3rd, then we got tired and complacent and let 2 goals in before missing a pen and sneaking a win.

9 changes were made from Saturday and the two players who kept their places from Saturday, were subbed after 60mins.

Happy to keep the wins coming for now.

Lost 2-1 at Gillingham.

According to Crawley's manager we played really well in the second half.

By his other comments this was our last pre season friendly.

Beating an almost full strength Tranmere side with a team full of kids and newbies, 9 changes from Saturday, has to be a positive.

RLC who impressed you?

Considering his papier mache hamstrings I thought Oyeleke had a fantastic game given the 30 odd minutes of football he's played this millenium due to injury. Visser, Conlon and Montano also played really well.

Alex Hurst and Daniel Trickett-Smith haven't played a single minute of league football before and did ok.

Lots of positives. Lots to work on, but for basically an all change reserve team to more than hold their own against a first 11 bar Vaughn, can't complain.

Great to see Manny back. Surprised Pope didn’t get a run out mind.

I liked DTS tonight, really got stuck in and absolutely nailed Spearing early doors so wasn’t phased by it.

It’s all feeling very positive with the depth we have (and still the likes of Pope, Gibbons and Amoo to come back and the new winger due to sign this week!)

Feels set up for us to really challenge this year... which always as a Vale fan feels like it’s set up for a fall!

Whilst we haven’t lost in 90 mins yet it’s frustrating to lose two penalty shootouts in a row.

We’ve got some brilliant players in our squad and once our attacking players start clicking and working well together, I think we’ll be a solid team this season. Still think we’ll bring in one or two more as well.

Port Vale will be at the top end of the league this season there’s no doubt about that. Really couldn’t care less about progressing in this competition however and the sooner we have this distraction out the way the better!

We beat Bristol Rovers on pens after drawing 2-2 in normal time. Think both sides rotated a little.

9 changes for us last night (only Josh Griffiths and Lewis Freestone keeping their places) with a couple of young pros in Tom Chamberlain and Grant Horton being given a go in the team.

On that basis, a 1-0 win is quite decent against Newport.

Crawley away at Gillingham tonight. I'll check on the score now and then but ho hum.

Steve Evans has said we have a bigger budget than them!

Just seen we had a player injured in the masturbation for the conditioning coach ...sorry warm up.

I wouldn’t be surprised given our lack of numbers, but it’s not like Evans to exaggerate...

A 3-2 win against FGR. We had a mixed team and I think they made multiple changes too.

We started poorly and we looked very shaky defensively. As the game wore on we apparently played much better and managed to come from behind twice which is pleasing.

Goals from Ajose, Jay and youngster Josh Key. Pleased for Ajose, hopefully he will get a chance on Saturday now.

I think we were about the same in terms of changes from Saturday. Only remotely good thing about this comp is giving youngsters a run out, which is something Flynn is not known for and I guess more due to the squad limit this season. Last night we had 1 15yr old, 2 16yr olds, 2 17yr olds, 1 19yr old and 2 20yr olds playing.
