I literally only remember the chance where Miller(?) tried to go round Olejnik. Other than that I don't remember him being particularly troubled by anything but I must be forgetting a lot.

Alas, it was a tie, so it matters not.

You realise we scored 3 goals as well, right?

We had 20 shots in total. Some of them must have been chances as well. Granted in the last 10 minutes while we were still playing our crazy 3-1-6 formation you had glorious chances.

You don't need to be so defensive. Obviously you had chances apart from the ones you scored, just not clear cut ones where I thought we were going to concede. We all see the game differently though.

No point in arguing about it anyway. Our last 4 games with Carlisle have been 2-2, 3-2, 2-3 and 3-3. Hard to see Thursday night being any different.

Forced into watching from faraway shores but was the same story as we have had all season. What a fucking joke our midfield is.

Hylton was really disappointing as well too, maybe the time off hasn't helped him.

Only one goal difference but dear oh dear we might have the worst midfield to ever be promoted from this league if by some miracle it happens. Why it wasn't sorted in January I do not know.

Should have been 1-4.

Then should have been 3-5.

Carlisles first was an unlucky OG and their second was a fluke accident.

The Lino ultimately robbed us though. Not in a million years did Carlisle deserve a result from that game.

Fucking football!

I said I'd take a point beforehand, more so when we were 3-1 down. Couldn't see us getting anything at that point and then within 3 minutes we're level. Had a bit of luck with a couple goals, but 2 of the Exeter goals were shite from our point of view.

Another entertaining game, I think we've got a solid chance in the away leg. Come on you blues!!!!

Yeah it could turn out to be a crucial point

All of Exeter's goals were shite from our point of view. If we could defend even to a semi professional level we'd be dangerous!

In fairness if we had an actual goalkeeper playing in the first half you could argue neither of your first two goals would have gone in.

Just watched it, no real surprise....defence as terrible as always, goalkeeper as pathetic as always.....get out of jail by being oneof the few sides able to just say 'sod it' and play a ridiculous OTT attack based formation which grabbed us a fortunate draw.

and will be the same again Tuesday.....as it stands before a ball is even kicked it is at least Exeter 2-0 Carlisle and game will be decided by how many Carlisle can score and how many more Exeter can.

got to sign a new goalie and back line in summer regardless of league.

Oh dear hahaha

Exeter probably did edge it, but were gifted a couple goals. We've just got to go for it in the second leg, it's the only way we know. Either way, it should be another cracker.

20 attempts but as GOG says I can't recall Olejnik having to do too much other than the Miller chance. Our first two goals were poor goalkeeping on your part but your first two were from crosses where a huge slice of luck came into play.

We had two perfectly good goals chalked off plus Gillespie made a point blank (very good) save from Wheeler and also Harley went one on one and screwed it up. Then Taylor should have scored at the death. We definitely created the best chances but to be honest we do have a soft underbelly which Carlisle will continue to exploit.

We need to deal with the crosses into the box much better. Perhaps Troy A H can make an appearance on Thursday to combat the aerial threat! Only joking.

There will be many twists and turns to come.

I don't think Carlisle from the little bit i've seen this season are a terrible side.............Just they have a really terrible defence.

The amazing thing is they have had a terrible defence for maybe 5-6 straight seasons now. They can throw a heck of alot into the box, put in many dangerous balls and will usually always score, if they could just find a new goalkeeper and 2-3 defenders to be able to ctually reduce the 4-5 sunday league cock-ups at the back made each game they'd get top 3 next season.

Saying that I don't think any of the 4 clubs should complain, when you watch the bore fest of the top flight this season L2 has been the only highlight of most of the season, a great last day action and 2 great first play-offs.

Think Exeter wll win 2nd leg.................you cannot keep giving them constant leads and hope to claw back into it......one time it will finally cost us.

So we're agreed. Every team that is getting promoted is the worst ever!

Maybe the four of us should get together and agree to give the place in League 1 next season to FGR since Vince has already declared that they will piss League 2 next season. Hardly worth making them go through the formality of playing the games.

Yeah the second was a total fluke cross that gave your keeper no chance, and as for the first at the time I wondered what the fuck your defender was thinking but having seen it back he had to try and get something on it because Proctor was waiting behind him for a tap in.

It's not just about attempts on goal though, I would define a chance as any time a team are in a position to score; otherwise those times a striker is inches away from getting his foot on the end of a cross, or those times a defender blocks the shot don't count as chances, yet somehow a shit cross which ends up going out for a goal kick does count as a chance.

Surely if anyone deserves it, it's Cheltenham.

I'm surprised Exeter haven't figured out our tactic yet, it's so simple it beggars belief. We wait and see how many they score before deciding how many to score ourselves.

Exactly, I'd call the moment where an Exeter defender produced a brilliant block to deny Reggie Lambe a clear shot on goal in the first half as a chance.

We were lucky........but you can argue we created our own luck. 3-1 down in 1st leg most managers would try and keep tight, hope to nick a goal and know second leg still there.

Curle went all or nothing, shoving 6-7 forward constantly that last 30 mins leaving enormous, near suicidal gaps. It nearly could have killed game off as Exeter had some great opportunities, but high risk gamble paid off.......also nice to see Exeter keep going at 3-1 and not play stalling time wasting crap like most would.

In an era of horrid 'defend and counter football it was refreshing

That's right Dave, we were very lucky with their chances but as I said it didn't reflect the overall game. Most of those chances came in the last 10 when we only had 3 defenders and 1 midfielder on the pitch.

In the first half Exeter were on top first 20 and then we were on top after that until the sucker punch on the stroke of half time. Exeter dominated first 10 minutes of second half and looked to have killed the tie, then we went for it to get back into it, which left us horribly exposed at the back which could have proved costly.

I just don't buy this bull shit from Exeter that it was all them from start to finish.

I opted for Carlisle vs Exeter, and glad I did.

A good, open game and Exeter probably deserved to win it by a goal or two. Questionable 'keeping from Carlisle!

Fair play to Curle for going for it, though. Made it an even more interesting game than it already was!

I did not see the game so have no opinion on which of you is correct, but I like the irony of suggesting HG viewed the game through blue-tinted glasses.

He only took away what you didn't deserve.

I actually think he was quite generous, he really should have chalked off a couple more of your goals. The useless c***.
