Oh well, at least we can safely say we needn't be posting in here anymore. It was fun whilst we had a (slim) chance. Still hope we can finish the season strongly.

Payne and Miller were unplayable tonight - could easily have been 6 or 7.

Rhead is a waste of space, more interested in throwing his excessive weight around than playing football

No chance mate, eastleigh and dover have easy run ins i can see them getting 20 points each whilst you have a stinking finish, cheltenham, forest green, grimsby, dover, braintree, tranmere... All of the top 6 plus a derby against chester and a tricky trip to barrow you have less chance then us and we are going no where unless 2 of eastleigh braintree and dover crumble whick looking at their fixtures it will be braintree missing out.

Great results for Dover and Eastleigh. Braintree will be disappointed they couldn't put Gateshead out of the running and bed themselves in. A penny for the thought of a Lincoln fan, five years in Non-League without even looking like they might get out. Not to mention the money they'll have wasted in the mean time. No wonder they get annoyed at annoyed at the overachieving part-timers. 'Next year', for the sixth time.

I don't think any Lincoln fan has said 'next year' in the previous years, so that's not quite correct. Unfortunately, setting a budget that's generally in line with what you can afford gets you nowhere in modern day football nowadays. It's becoming more and more skewed and will continue to do so when/if the likes of Ebbsfleet, Fylde, Harrogate etc join the National League.

Anyway, Dover and Eastleigh to join the PO party.

Whilst I probably agree with you, as you say we play Braintree, Dover and Tranmere. So if we beat these teams we will have a big say in who gets there.

Eastleigh should get there but every time I've seen them this year they have looked poor. Particularly their defence.

So Tuesday night set of games leaves the table looking like this:

4th. Dover 62 points 36 games
5th. Braintree 62 points 36 games
----------------------------------------------------
6th. Tranmere 62 points 38 games
7th. Eastleigh 62 points 37 games
8th. Wrexham 59 points 37 games
9th. Gateshead 59 points 38 games

Important wins for Dover and Eastleigh puts both teams in a good position going into this weekends games whilst Braintree are probably disappointed to only manage a draw at home to Gateshead. Lincoln are now out of the race and Bromley who were probably never in it anyway are definitely not anymore.

Saturdays matches:
Wrexham vs Chester
Braintree vs Cheltenham
Guiseley vs Dover
Tranmere
vs Forest Green

Dont think you could say there is a banker of a win for any teams this weekend. Chester at home for Wrexham is probably the easiest looking fixture, but with it being a derby form usually goes out the window. Guiseley has proved a tough place to go for ourselves and Grimsby in the last week, wouldnt be surprised to see a draw there, whilst Cheltenham and Forest Green at home are obviously going to be tough with both teams going for promotion. If i had to pick one likely winner this weekend it would be probably be Wrexham with the rest probably dropping points.

Not unrealistic to suggest that we could be 3 points clear in 4th at 5pm on Saturday. Plenty of twists and turns yet. Looking like 80-83 for 4th and 78-81 for 5th.

We have 5 have games and away games at Kiddy, Torquay and Eastleigh. We will get anywhere between 15-24 points from that. Personally have it down as 17 or 19 (depending on if Grimsby need anything). Still feel that Braintree will fall just short..

Wrexham have a right shitter of a run-in.

Not convinced by Tranmere due to Dover and Braintree having 2 games in hand, and then there's Eastleigh who have a game in hand and an easy run-in.

I'm more pessimistic of getting anything from our game against Dover than I was from our games v FGR, Tranmere or Grimsby.

We seem to struggle more against big, physical, hard working teams like them plus they too have a quality attacking line up. The referee could have a big influence I think depending whether he/she is strict or lenient of their physical approach.

the main thing going in our favour at the moment is our goal difference which currently stands at +17

if we didnt have that i think we would be out of shooting distance but if we beat Eastleigh and Dover then that closes the gap on them. we only have to be 3 points behind the bottom play off place at any one time. if that gap opens to 6 points i would be less optimistic

and eastleigh have 8 and gateshead -8. ergo if we had less than tranmere we would be in a worse position, but since we have more than both Braintree and Tranmere that puts us in a much healthier situation....

You do realise goal difference only matters if the teams are level, right?

Gateshead are out of it now I reckon. I would still back Eastleigh (thanks to the extra two points we gifted them last week) and probably Tranmere.

If Dover/Braintree miss out I can't see them being in a position like this again for a long time..

Well, guess it's time to ask the question....

Who would the Grimsby fans prefer to play, Dover or Braintree?

I personally think Wrexham have a realistic chance of making the play-offs. We have to play the teams above us so can take points from them, and our recent form has been outstanding.

Out of the last 8 games we still have to play all the top 6. We haven't proved we can beat a good side yet this season so I'm not holding out too much hope of getting into the playoffs based on that. I reckon we are the outsiders of all the sides so I expect we will just miss out and that'll be enough to keep Mills in a job, although it is open to debate whether he should keep it or not.

Yeah, okay. Even better, we should do a tripple swap with Southport.

Tranmere get Mills, Southport get Brabin back and Wrexham see Andy Bishop returning as player manager.

Everyone's happy.

With regards to braintree if they do get in a play off position can they take part due to there ground, dont look football league standard to me or will they have a years grace? I remember a few year back macclesfield and maybe stevenage were refused promotion on ground gradeing
