I've just looked at Wednesday's run-in and they'll be kicking themselves if they don't go up.

They've just played FGR, Cheltenham and Lincoln (only two points out of 9) and now have Oxford, Accrington, Burton, Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Shrewsbury and Derby. That's a pretty favourable run of games, in theory!

Are we throwing Barnsley into the autos mix now? They've been on decent form for a while (seems an age, actually) and sniffing around. Not sure they'll quite be able to do it, having to effectively close the gap by two wins in their final eight but it could swing quickly if their form keeps up.
Yeah Barnsley are definitely in it but as you say they are relying on others to slip up still.

I did have Wednesday and Plymouth as the two to go up a few weeks ago but Wednesday seem determined not to go up. So Ipswich looks like they might now go passed them.

Still think Argyle will end up in the playoffs. They dont look as technically good as Ipswich or Wednesday. The goal difference highlights that.
Course you do. Whilst many around us have written us off for what feels like the entirety of the season, plucky old Argyle are still fending off the LG1 big boys. Time will tell but I really cannot see two teams finishing above us this season, we have been too consistent

They'll finish third. Wednesday are too strong to carry on stumbling and you wouldn't bet against us not losing another game between now and the end of the season. I reckon we will win the league.

There are similarities between your season and our own when we won league two in the final ten minutes of the season.

Doncaster were 12 points clear in April and Plymouth well ahead by a similar amount. We went on an unbelievable run whilst the other two bottomed out.

From the outside it looks as if you have finally found a system and an XI which has clicked and is showing the potential you had threatened but rarely demonstrated. I think it's yours to lose now. The question is which one of the other two will stumble over the line. Whoever chokes will be on a hell of a comedown and not in the frame of mind to face three quick cup finals in the playoffs. I think it's just too much of an ask for Barnsley unless both massively drop off, but they'll be a real threat in the play offs.

Football does work in cycles though, and there is the risk that you have peaked a month too early. I can't see it though.

I'm still not getting carried away. Although I do think we're the best team in the league after our January signings, I've watched over 20 years of struggle so I'll always be a natural pessimist when it comes to Ipswich.

We still have some very tough games to come, although relatively simple victories over Bolton and Derby should give me some confidence.

If we can win the next 2, then I will be much more confident, but it's a big ask to win 9 games in a row!

We certainly look a lot more solid now and are finally time-wasting etc which we never used to but complained about most other teams doing.

Think Barnsley are the team to keep an eye on, big match is the home one against Ipswich in late April

Form and table doesn't lie. I don't think it's a done deal; I just think we're favourites.

Interesting you have us fourth when we've won 7 on the spin and not conceded in 8, though.

Just a quick glance at Plymouth’s remaining fixtures and outside of a derby with Exeter it’s not exactly a murderers row of opponents. Mainly relegation strugglers or on the beach teams like us. Wouldn’t surprise me if they run the table the rest of the way so I have them big favourites then take your pick for second.

That would rely on the EFL suddenly changing the rules. Pompey would play Barnsley in the semi final lol.

Weird obsession from Pompey fans over Ipswich...

Fancying Peterborough to win these playoffs, they're flying, and a bunch of their players have promotion experience at this level.

If we do end up in the playoffs, I’d be delighted if the team we had to play was Portsmouth. By a long way they’re the worst teams in the ‘promotion race’. Although to be fair I don’t think you’ve been in the race since about October have you? Bang average side and overrated fans.

It's pretty intriguing, this promotion race. Wednesday and Argyle both have easier run-ins on paper, but you get the impression that both Ipswich and Barnsley will beat anyone in front of them at the moment.

Not sure how the pizza final hammering will affect Argyle but they've bounced back well from heavy defeats all season. Wednesday have to find some form quickly or they could drop out of the race before they know it.

Could be a huge game on the 25th when Ipswich travel to Barnsley.

Who will be this season's MK Dons and miss out unluckily at the end? Whoever it is may find it hard to raise their game again in the playoffs.

We are going to have a huge say in the promotion race. We are playing a lot of the top teams over the next few weeks and are capable of winning against anyone. Hopefully we smash argyle and ruin their season.

Jesus, calm down fella.
Na he’s right, you Ipswich fans are the most self entitled set of supporters that I have ever had the displeasure of sharing a league with. Every club has a minority of deluded idiots who constantly spout shite but you guys must be in competition with each other as to who can be the most pretentious prat online.

Best team in League 1 history, we deserve to be promoted. If it wasn’t for luck and shit ref’s we would have won the league already.

Im going full Kevin Keegan here and would Love It, Love it if Ipswich never got promoted this season.

Back to us, jury’s out now as to how we bounce back after being destroyed by Bolton on Sunday. These set of lads have been battered by Peterborough, Charlton, Grimsby and Barnsley and have always bounced back. Lets hope we have the ability to bounce back one final time

6 points this weekend and I really cannot see us not getting promoted

From the outside it does indeed appear that Ipswich are set for the autos, but that said they're on an exceptional run and still aren't top 2. You'd think they were 10 points clear judging by some of the posts. If they keep up that form then yeah, they'll most likely get one of the automatic spots, but logic would suggest that perfect form will most likely falter at some point. They still have to go to Peterborough and Barnsley, two of the other sides in the best form in the league. Wednesday will get out of their slump and start winning games again at some point but it does feel like they've knackered their chances momentum wise at least, but Plymouth are very consistent.

If I had to predict then I'd go Barnsley to win it, then Plymouth, Ipswich and Wednesday. The other two spots are so tough to call but I'll say Bolton as they have the extra game, and I'll hedge my bets and say the winner of Derby v Pompey on the 29th April will take 6th spot. Posh I'm just not convinced by personally, and Wycombe I just flatly don't like so it's more of a personal preference thing for them to not make it either.

I'm certainly not getting carried away at this point. So much can change over the next few games, as has been shown in the past few! If we keep up this form, it would set a crazy record, so I'm still doubtful it can continue. Of course, I'd be delighted if it does. We have the players, but as has been shown over many games already this season, that can mean nothing if the other team gets their tactics right. Lincoln came down to Portman Road and defended for their lives with the best defensive display I've seen in a long time, and fair play to them. I'm sure the league table will look so much different on Tuesday.

I'll agree we're bang average and I really don't think we'll get in the play-offs.
Since we've been in this league Ipswich are the most condscending cnuts ever to play us. Why do you think you're so massive. As I said before Wednesday are by far the biggest. Your team is based in the back waters and will never be seen as a big club. Ipswich hasn't got the ring of say Wednesday or Sunderland and I've never seem them big up their selves like you lot do.

I agree with what the Plymouth fan says about you

If you can find a single post on here that suggests any Ipswich fan thinks we are a bigger club than Sunderland, I’ll leave instantaneously. We’re not a ‘big club’ in terms of actual big clubs.

We’re an above League 1, top half championship size club. That’s just how it is. You may disagree but when you look at our history, fanbase, etc, it’s championship sized. So sometimes we may come across ‘arrogant’ but I can assure it’s somewhat out of embarrassment that we’ve underachieved so much as to be at the level. All the years of mismanagement and poor performances and we play in the league we deserve to be in. That’s a fact. We weren’t robbed by a points deduction that put us here and we didn’t reform a la Rangers and end up here. We simply underperformed and are exactly where we should be based on the performances on the pitch.

By the same token, Bournemouth fans will happily concede they’re not a premier league sized club. But do they deserve to be there? Absolutely. Years of good performances put them there. Just like our performances saw us drop to the third tier and how the last 4 seasons have all been our lowest finishes in the past 75 years.

It’s football. You win some, you lose some and your position at the end of the year tells the story. None of us can change that, as much as we all wish we can. No matter how confident/arrogant/hopeful we are.
