very much so, i don’t like how all the teams struggling are in the north west, not that i’d wish it on anyone but go do it to some irrelevant club in the south east or something!
The NW and especially around Gtr Manchester does seem to be a hotbed for attracting arsehole owners. Aside from nefarious purposes I don’t understand why someone with money to burn would invest in a club up here without an existing affiliation for the club. It’s a Saturated market. Within a half hour drive/train/bus ride for most of us there are a handful of clubs at a decent watchable non league level or in the EFL. Then throw in premier league clubs City, United, Everton, Liverpool and Burnley all being easy to reach and attracting match going fans without challenging for promotion or a cup run is a nightmare.

scunthorpe were better than i expected last week although they could easily be one of those relegation battlers who just always conspire to lose games. We were like that last season. never seemed like we were getting battered but then we would just lose 1-0 or 2-1.

maybe loft will dig them out of the hole but I think they'll be scrapping all the way.

As the other vale fans have said, based solely on our game against them, carlisle looked fairly decent. solid enough at the back although not much going forwards.

I created a thread about this a while ago, after noting how well south-western clubs in particular were doing at climbing the football pyramid while so many of those basket-case clubs were in the north-west.

Of course anyone can have a basket case owner, Swindon's previous owner doesn't disprove my argument when compared to the number of even worse owners among clubs like Bury, Oldham, Macclesfield, Rochdale, Blackburn, Blackpool, Stockport, Chester and Bolton that threaten the very existence of these clubs.

I was thinking that unless we do something to protect established clubs better then all we're seeing is a natural shift in the geographic balance of football that makes life harder for those clubs all packed together around the traditional heartland of the sport in the north-west while opening up opportunities for growth in areas where football didn't used to be that popular.

It's not so much that something is going on in the south-west that makes clubs there successful, more just that as football transitions from a purely working-class pastime that can only thrive in areas with a large working-class population to something more evenly spread then some areas will see growth while others see shrinkage. Demographic changes in both the population of the UK as well as the people likely to attend a football match have left clubs in the north-west feeling like they are competing for parts of a shrinking pie while those in the south-west have a growing pie, and less competition.

The bad owners are not the cause of the decline, they are just the vultures looking to pick off some of the wealth and the north west is where you find the best carcasses.

I thought Scunthorpe lacked any quality, that was the main difference last week, they battled but seemed a disorganised mess at times and didn't even really have a go until the last 10 minutes, Yates made the point on commentary that they seemed happy to just lose 1-0 as was zero urgency.

That said... was there a massive gulf between their performance and that of Harrogate the week before? Probably not.

Never mind, Scunny’s top scorers this season only need 2 more goals each to be level with our CB Luke Waterfall in the goalscorers charts.

We can absolutely survive with this squad of players. But not with this manager. He has completely run out of ideas, the players clearly don’t have confidence in him at all.

If we replace him now with someone half decent we can finish comfortably in mid table. If we keep him we’re going to be relegated.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Don’t think Carlisle will go down even if I only get to listen to them than watch.

carlisle have one little bonus other clubs down there don’t…….a little bit of cash for strengthening.

won’t be a lot but it can make a difference, usually when you get to December and January is some better quality players become available who frankly felt you too low for them previously and then find themselves in no mans land.

question for Carlisle owners is whether they chance giving beech it or find someone else now give them time
To access them improve.

Funny seeing you do badly after laughing when we went down instead of you.

We can't save you this time
I don't remember laughing particularly but I was happy. I mean was I supposed to be sad that we stayed up? I also celebrated Grimsby going down because it meant we stayed up.

going down to the bananarama league is so extraordinarily wank it’s hard to explain.

It’s like owning a house in london and then being evicted to a paddy field in estonia.

You’ll also play sides you’ve never heard of such as wealdstone, dover, chesterfield and kings lynn

Did you do geography at school?

Estonia's rice production is around zero and the parts of the country I've visited were nicer than Mansfield.

Agree that the NLs a different world though, one at the outer extremities of the solar system.

i find it both amusing but almost impossible there are 2 sides below us.
We are staying up. I hate supporters like Bottega. He is just so negative. Never heard him say anything positive. Hope he gets banned from here

You can’t ban someone from having a difference of opinion pal! ha.

In fairness you do seem to be on a slow and steady decline to going down. Maybe i’m wrong
