I've been doing a brain off kind of task at work today so I stuck the Iron Bru interview expecting to have a sly chuckle at the fact that despite us being below you we're in a much better position. While it is indeed true that we are now in a better position than you off the pitch I actually feel a slight pang of sympathy towards you and not the smugness that I put it on for. The parallels between Swann and Fenty have never been stronger. His stubbornly unwavering mentality that while everything isn't rosy it could be worse is what will kill you. The fans know the shit is hitting the fan and he is that dog in the room on fire like in that meme saying that everything is fine. Hearing him bang on about his "continued support" was like stepping back into last season...hang on wait, no it was like stepping back into a few weeks ago when Fenty had the gall to login to The Fishy post-match on a Saturday and claim that because we hadn't paid his loans off he had contributed to the new training facilities bought by our new owners. Two peas in a pod, these slimy fuckers. Local rivalries aside, you deserve better as fans and I hope you manage to get him out your club.

Thankyou. An excellent and pertinent point well expressed.

I wouldn't bother having a conversation with bobdaddyo as he is the most biased fan in the world. Every goal the opposition score according to him is a foul or offside and he spends all the time slagging opposition fans off when his own team are just as bad.
Can see why you think that, but not actually true.

I just have a bad habit of posting when I'm in a bad mood right after conceding.

But if you look I never said vale didn't deserve to beat us last week.

XG hurts my brain, so that table indicates to me what we already know that our strikers are indeed shite and we miss chances that we should be scoring?
That's the basic gist. Essentially it's shots per game, but adjusted for quality so that a team who take a bunch of speculative shots from outside the box don't look like they are a better attacking side than one who created a few where they beat the defence and had the whole of the goal to aim at.

I think the confusion arises with the name 'expected' goals... people tend to get it confused with saying the number of goals we 'deserved' to score.

Come and sit down on the moaning gits table, my friend. Topics of discussion for today are media coverage of wimmins football, ticket prices and those coloured boots players wear these days.

Crookes has turned down my offer of being his agent but Max Wright has said yes. I am looking at transferring Wright to Grimsby Borough and getting Nathan Jarman in at Grismby

Probably get more game time out of Jarman than we would out of Wright to be fair.

Football Focus has been ruined, its now The Womens Football Show matinee edition. Ticket prices are as bad as every price these days. Not bothered what colour the boots are as long as the feet inside them are capable.

I said when we played Scunthorpe I thought I was watching the 2 worst teams in the football league. It’s looking like I was right.

Cant comment on Scunthorpe’s squad, but our squad shouldn’t be one of the two worst. This is why we need to change our manager urgently as he’s getting no where near enough from them.

Oldham should have beaten mansfield today and had by far the better chances against a shambolic mansfield performance.

it’s now 11 (eleven) games without a win, and you can’t help but help but feel he’s lost the plot, he’s absolutely no idea what he’s doing! his decision to bring oates on over ward was another on an increasingly long list of failures he’s made.

He waits until mansfield go behind until he does anything and has no positivity about him at all.

After a miserable return of 1 point from 2 home games against barrow and oldham is a serious worry.

games against northampton (away) port vale (home) exeter (away) and tranmere (home) will yield no points.

we just have to hope the 2 aides worse than us carry on being worse, this side has all the makings of the mansfield side that got relegated in 2008.

In short were fucked

I don't know what's going on at Mansfield as I thought you would be doing well. Thought Clough was a decent manager but he seems to be struggling. It may just be that you have had a poor start and end up doing better as the season progresses so I'd wait see where you are after 20 to 23 games.

You’ll be fine in the medium to long term I reckon. Just need to hold your nerve for now. Might well be wide of the mark but with the quality in your squad once you get one win you’ll go on a big run and force yourselves into the top 7.

I wouldn’t have said we had by far the better chances. We should have had a couple first half but Mansfield had a couple of shots which they dragged horribly wide and forced our keeper into a couple of good saves second half. We probably edged it but Curle shat himself second half and decided a point was fine instead of going for a winner.

Think the bottom 4 or 5 are already presenting themselves but it would be impressive if there are worse teams than ourselves and Scunthorpe come the end of year.

Wasn’t Clough‘s nickname by the Derby fans ‘non league Nigel’

Don't worry, we're normally quite good at ending runs like that... :2thumb:

It’s a mixture, firstly the injury crisis is ridiculous, I’m talking we had zero CB available Saturday. Next problem is most of our CB are not very good, and our best by far in James Perch is out for the season. Oli Hawkins is our best attacking player this season and due to all the injuries we are playing him at CB so that takes away a lot of our threat too.

Im not evading Clough of any responsibility, as our recruitment in defence is not up to the standard and tactically Clough keeps sticking with a midfield diamond that’s not worked for a while. Danny Johnson still has not got going, and we need him and Hawkins back upfront together to try form a partnership.

I do think Clough will rally and improve us eventually, not quite ready to slit my wrist like Adam although injuries aside our performances have still been bitterly disappointing.

I'd be amazed if Mansfield don't pick up. They gave us a couple of tonkings last season and they have quality in their squad. They've got a bad injury list at the moment and one or two of the new signings are taking a while to bed in.

Once they've got that out of the way I can see them pushing for the top 7. Vale have got them next Tuesday night and I know it's going to be a difficult game.

I didn't think anyone would be worse than Oldham, but Carlisle managed it today.
I'm surprised at that as they were probably one of the better teams at vale so far this season. They were just woefully short of someone to stick it in the net.

I guess they've got into a rut of poor results and confidence must be low.

I don't see a world in which Oldham and us don't get relegated, we are two teams in complete crisis and these issues won't stop until our respective owners leave.

If anyone manages to finish below two clubs in utter meltdown then it would be quite remarkable.

When we played Mansfield earlier in the season, BBC Essex were raving about them all game saying how good they were. Passed us off the park and should have won convincingly - sounded like this was the season it would finally come together for them.

Everything has gone wrong since that incorrect 96th minute penalty award at Colchester that Tuesday night in August.

The season Barnet went down along with Chesterfield they had a really bad injury crisis at the start of the season which resulted in a really bad start to them, and they never recovered from that disastrous start.
