Hahaha

We are safe now come on, only a miserable prick would think we're bottom 2 standard and still well in a relegation fight.
You think 40 points keeps a team up?

No chance. For starters third bottom got 48 points last season. Without looking I’d be surprised many if any team has stayed up with 40 points. No way will that be enough this season. So are we bollocks safe!

Five more points will easily do it for Carlisle. That will be a doddle. You’re as good as safe now.

Wasn’t 35 points enough one season fairly recently?

On PPG 42 would keep a side up this year as it stands based on that.

The two sides relegated will be Scunthorpe who don’t look like they will manage 30 points and one of Oldham, Stevenage, Barrow or Orient.

Carlisle won’t go down from here, one more win and a draw probably 100% seals survival.

Aye, just had a look. 2015/2016 when York and Dagenham went down you coulda stayed up with 35 points. Or even 34 on goal difference.

But TBF to HG, it's not often in the last few years that 40 points would keep you up. It'd keep you from finishing bottom a few times but the team in 23rd usually gets more than that.

This year has to be the easiest year to stop up for even slightly well ran clubs.

Two basket case clubs hamstrung by the EFL embargo are propping up the table, the two relegation spots were basically decided before the season started.

We were unanimously chosen as the team that would finish bottom and Oldham was generally seen as the team that would finish 2nd bottom. If any other club goes down that has to be one of the most preventable and embarrassing relegations the FL has seen.

I miss these... though I don't have all the past points to survive.

Not suggesting Harrogate, Bradford and Walsall are in danger, only there for illustrative purposes :)
* indicate games in hand over those teams who have played 36

43 - Harrogate*, Bradford, Walsall
42
41
40 - Carlisle*
39 - Rochdale**, Colchester
38
37
36 - Orient**
35
34 - Barrow*, Stevenage
33
32
-------------------------------------------------
31 - Oldham**
30
29
28
27
26
25
24 - Scunthorpe

It's spreading out a bit. Carlisle and Colchester, not long ago considered the teams Oldham have to catch have strung together some wins in the last few games and look out of reach for the time being. Orient, Barrow and Stevenage have replaced them but the gap to safety will look pretty dispiriting from an Oldham perspective, after the Shezerection. Defeats were always going to come but the manner of them, with last minute goals conceded, and the timing as potential rivals win games has been especially damaging. They have a game in hand on Barrow and two on Stevenage. Don't usually read too much into games in hand in the relegation battle, since the teams down here normally lose anyway, but a couple of games is more of an opportunity, and even a point from those two could be invaluable if Stevenage continue their slide.

Nothing really you can say about Scunthorpe. They're done for unless something miraculous happens between now and the end of the season.

Think there will be only one relegation spot after Derby go bust.

Think we will be safe but had we not got rid of the poor influence in the dressing room, I really think we would have been relegated.

With Barrow’s next 2 fixtures looking really winnable, it’s a huge 7 days for them.

Golden opportunity to go ahead of us (on GD) by Saturday night.

I wonder if Carver will still think we’re safe if that happens.

You haven't seen us play relegation threatened sides this season.

Doubt it. Someone will save them and they’ll go back to throwing money around in every direction. Always the same with the likes of them.

Carlisle have done the bulk of the work so while they’re still in the conversation nominally to me it’s one of Oldham, Stevenage or Barrow. I reckon Barrow have enough about them to put a mini run together and Oldham are clearly playing hard for Sheridan. Stevenage look hopeless to me, no real threat up top and their defence is leaky too. I think it’s them who drop.

We can but hope. Back to the depths where they belong and replace them with a proper club like Notts.
unlikely to be Notts this season i think as they're not even in a play off place - more likely 2 from Stockport, Wrexham and Chesterfield

Wrexham are now a hobby club. The Welsh Salford. They can fuck off. Notts are only a point outside the top 7. Would welcome either them, Halifax or Grimsby back along with Stockport/Chesterfield.

If we end up playing Wrexham next season good luck to the police on that one. Still remember when we went there early 2000s and it kicked off massively on some housing estate near the stadium and people were robbing garden gnomes etc and throwing them at each other. Stockport would be ok I guess but we all know it’s going to end being Boreham Wood for the other spot. Notts need an actual manager I feel just looking at them from a distance, good away day to get back though.

Stockport I reckon are nailed on, Chesterfield have lost their way a bit. Wrexham are churning out results. Can't see Halifax lasting and Boreham Wood have too many games in hand. The others mentioned I don't think are good or consistent enough to get promoted.

The general rule is one proper and one tinpotter mind. If either Stockport, Wrexham go up I can see them going straight through to L1 with all the cash they have.

We're not going down now.

Come on do you seriously think us with Simmo in charge can still go down? And whoever that proper shitty little non league club is who plays us on Saturday have no chance of beating us, would take a miracle for them against us.

Your words were “we are safe”
On 40 points we are not.

I think Simmo has given us a great chance of staying up. We were 100% going down under Millen, absolutely nailed on.
Simmo has come in, did wonders and given us a lifeline.

But are we safe already? Are we fuck! These players could fold again, you’d better believe it. I hope under Simmo they don’t, but having watched these players over the past 7 months, I don’t trust them to not have another bottle job collapse.

Huge win for us tonight given pretty much every other result was favourable, even bigger since we've got a home banker apparently on Saturday.

The effort was still there tonight, just a distinct lack of quality which is what most of the season has boiled down to. We have some poor poor players but it does highlight what an achievement it was from Simmo getting the 4 wins.

Maybe a reality check for the likes of Carver who think we’re safe. Thankfully most results went our way but defeat on Saturday at Barrow and it will be alarm bells again.

we do seam to have a better away record against lowly teams though;-

Home Scunthorpe (D) Oldham (D) Stevenage (D) Orient (D) Colchester (L) Rochdale (L) Carlisle (NP)
Away Scunthorpe (W) Oldham (W) Stevenage (L) Orient (NP) Colchester (W) Rochdale (D) Carlisle (D)
updated after Rochdale (A) and Scunthorpe (A);- apart from Stevenage we have better results away from home against every team near the bottom that we've played twice.....

that suggests we'll lose to Carlisle at the Weekend then beat Orient Away the weekend after.
