Well a Sako shaped hole :bg:
There isn't a hole yet. We may even have the hole filled with van la Parra and Henry. Sako is good but he relies on having someone behind him who understands him. All of Sako's good games were with Golbourne behind him.

Unusually, we finished a season with no sense that we **had** to sign players. Most seasons we get an Academy player or two coming through and (with several exceptions) they have been excellent the last few years. IIRC we played one game last season with 6 of our former academy players on the pitch.

So a hole? Hmmmm. Maybe.

On the other hand, it will be interesting to see what remains of global brand Lucky Hull City Tigers. At the back only Michael Dwason has committed to staying. They are exceptionally talented out wide if they can keep Elmohamady, Robertson and Brady, but Robertson could attract PL attention if not now then in January if Hull aren't up there. Brady could be of interest to us, I guess, but doubt he would come. Not sure how strong Hull will be in the middle though. Will be interesting to see what Bruce does. He may have his hands tied because I can'tsee any of Hull's strikers playing for Hul next season, so Bruce probably needs to find someone who can score.
Hull remain favourites I think, but at the moment they look a little like a naval armada...strong at the back and able to deliver a barrage into the middle all day long rom the sides. But who will be on the end of them?

Personal opinion: Hull will fall to bits. Loads of 0-0 draws but they won't score many, and they will sink....a bit like Fulham.....with a cargo full of expensive merchandise and a chairman bleating about everything. Sure I'll be wrong :bg: but there seems to much for Steve Bruce to put together again.

you mean the poorest since the year before?

It wasn't that different, except there were only 4 good teams as opposed to 5.

Donny, Barnsley and Yeovil replaced us, Brentford and wolves.

Fleetwood, Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Rochdale replaced Tranmere, Carlisle, Stevenage and Shrewsbury.

By far and away a weaker league than the one we got promoted from.

I don't agree with you there! The top 8 were far better and far more consistent than the rest of the league for 85-90% of the season.

I really think 9th down have a huge task to get anywhere near the likes of Boro, Wolves, Brentford, us and Derby.

Consistency isn't guaranteed to continue into next season. Especially with lots of teams making lots of transfers, changes in fortunes etc

The league is so tight that only one or two poor decisions in the Summer and you could drop/rise 10 positions in the table easily.

Think we're a classic example. Extremely poor Summer last year, and although we didn't lose too much and had a similar team we went from 7th to 19th. We also are a massive victims of inconsistency, as we had better records against Norwich, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Wolves and Derby than they had against ourselves. It was their consistency that meant they finished 8th and not down in 19th like us. Between our squad and those is very little difference in terms of genuine quality man for man - there will be the odd exception of better players at these clubs.

Most teams in this division are only 2-3 very good signings off promotion. Whether you finished 4th or 21st the season before.

Calling Aden Flint who bagged 15 league goals when you have Matt Derbyshire up top makes me giggle.

Genuinley Baffled

You're Definately 12 years old.

Flint will get bullied by championship strikers week in week out, he has in the lower leagues bar one season.

Matt Derbyshire scored goals consistently when he started (mostly after Christmas) did you even bother to notice that fact before posting?

I didn't think Flint was that slow tbh? Hes no Jamie McCombe. I can't remember him struggling with it at all this season. Yes I know, it's a higher level. But let's not make out this league is full of world beaters. Rotherham FFS?

A few additions to the squad and we will be fine. Only have to look at the promoted clubs last season. ( Ignore Rotherham, they'll reach there natural level soon enough).

Season can't come quick enough.

The arrogance is outstanding.

Your coming from playing Fleetwood and Yeovil to Hull and QPR.

I genuinely hope this ridiculous arrogance has been transferred to your staff and players as there's only one place you'll be going.

Quality Derbyshire. As soon as Revell left and he became our main man he banged in 10 in 20. Good for someone playing up front on his own down at the bottom. Will get 15+ next year.

I thought Derbyshire only managed 9 last season?

Evans' best signing? What was it that made the difference between your performance in March/April...1 win, 5 losses....to the decent performance April/May..1 win, 3 draws, no losses?

And what did you all reckon of Adam Hammill? Always liked him but he seems to have become a bit meh....

I don't really get this. Tranmere went straight down to non-league and Carlisle just about managed to stay up while Chesterfield finished in the L1 play-offs with Rochdale and Fleetwood not far off. The teams that came up from L2 were certainly no worse than those who went down that season.

Shrewsbury came straight back up and Stevenage were in the play offs, didn't care to mention that?

The fact that those 3 got so close to playoffs/going up just backs up my argument that it was a piss poor league last year.

Which backs up my point re clubs losing key players.

We had games where we were played off the park footballing wise but still won. Brentford away is just one example. We play to our strengths and that's what makes us a good side. We might not be pleasing on the eye but opposition managers used to say we were the best team they'd seen under Jewell, after hammering us 4-0
I do think you guys will be right up there again next year. Not particularly pretty football - but you are very effective against short teams, and those in the bottom half. Hopefully we won't be so easy to beat next year!

Pritchard was pretty poor for us in the first half of the season, and we did very well. Definitely a massive loss to us, but more than any other side we were more about the sum of our parts than any player driving the team forward.

If we lose a couple more players, then I might start to get worried.

Last season's League One was as equally shit in terms of quality as the three we endured before it.

Don't bet with SERNWA, he still hasn't donated the £10 he owes to the forum after our bet last season.

He strikes me as the sort that will just dissapear when proved wrong! Just a typical keyboard warrior.

We'll finish above Rotherham next season.

Completely different forum, go through everyone else's bets on the old one and make them pay up and then I will, I'm not no mug that's going to do whatever you say.

Nah you're just a little boy that is trying to worm out of anything he commits to like he always has done on here. You were the only person I remember having a bet with, that's why I'm confronting you.

We'll finish above Rotherham next season.

It's amazing how one decent season after years of abject failure will get people to come out with the most ridiculous statements.

There's nothing to suggest you will
finish above us, the majority of your team are decent league one players, I mean let's compare some players on key positions; Flint or Arnason? Not really an hard one is it, on one hand we've got a one season wonder and on the other we've got a classy centre half who is a regular international starter.

Next, Korey Smith or Richie Smallwood? Smith, a player who was shite for Oldham in league one or Smallwood a starter for Middlesborough before Karanka and probably the best defensive midfield I'm the bott half of championship last season.

Finally Aaron Wilbraham or Matt Derbyshire? Wilbraham hadn't scored more than 3 in 3 years before joining Bristol and has had a mediocre lower league areas, Derbyshire on the other hand has played and scored in the premier league, won a league cup, intertoto cup, Greek league, Greek cup and played in European competitions. Again not a hard decision.

So if you get past the bravado and arrogance, it's clear to see that there's nothing to suggest Bristol are better than us now or will be next season, if anything it shows the opppsite.

Little boy  it's a fuckin tenner, do you think I care? Dozens of bets were made on that forum, run along and enforce those and then I'll pay up. Astounded at how thick you think I am.

Btw you're a fucking liar cos you made the same bet bout Sako scoring more with like 3 other people, Rammy was one who went with Craig Bryson, run along and cry at him to pay up.

Well we both know you wont pay up, that is the sad fact of the matter. We both know using the forum swapping names is just another excuse to worm out of it. If it was the same forum you would have just made another excuse lined up. I'm just all too happy to show up the cowardly keyboard warrior up on this forum to all of our new friends who have joined us from L1.

Anyway I'm sure people are bored of this, maybe put this back on topic.

To put that in other words, you haven't got the bollocks to ask anyone else to pay up, especially not Rammy, you thought I'd be an easy target but I called your bluff and made you look like a spineless c***?

That's more accurate.
