I tend to mainly listen to podcasts on the go but will keep it in mind. Finally got round to expanding my phone memory today so now I have loads of my music on there which is brilliant. :) Been listening to some of my older stuff that I don't get to listen to at home very often.

Yeah they have a 24hr license so it would be great if they push it on a bit too as they would back at home. :)

Recondite has a new album out, think there are a couple of fans on here:

Didn't think I'd like this as I am not huge on Jungle and I hate Breakcore but I quite enjoyed it. Son of Cod you might like this. Or you might think it's utter shite not sure tbh but you've not posted in here for a while.

Quite like this track by Lori which perfect for those early sets I reckon.

Okay one more mix this time a Dark Minimal Dubstep mix. Love it.

Youtube is so fucking good for finding new tunes and music.

Well that was an enjoyable weekend although the music didn't quite hit the standards I'd hoped.

We got there just after 11, Kobosil was on in the main room and warming things up nicely although I felt it lacked a bit of flow. Parasole was one of the highlights of the night for me, he really got the crowd going and played some brilliant techno. I saw Parasole warm up the year before and felt he put in a solid performance then but he's even better with a later slot. Would love to see a tracklist.

Answer Code Request was another person I was really looking forward to seeing but his Live set lost some of the power that Parasole had built up in my opinion and I was pretty underwhelmed by it. It split the opinion between my friends as some loved it and some felt the same as me. I'd have had him on after Kobosil. Marcel Fengler who was pretty disappointing at boom played a brilliant set with plenty of euphoric moments leading us into the early hours.

Dettmann came on and he started off brilliantly, but I felt that he dropped the pace a bit towards the end of his set which I assumed was so that Ben Klock could take us back up but it never quite happened. Klocks set was also solid but a couple of bad vocal tracks spoiled it a bit for us. I'd seen both of them in the last 12 months and preferred their other sets but they will still solid and I didn't stop dancing all night pretty much so it must have been pretty good.

Overall a good night, I think me and Nicola had built the expectations in our heads a bit to much and I felt it never quite reached them but it was great to be with a few friends we've not seen for a while and the music was still quality overall. Hydra and Studio Spaces are brilliant, the crowds at their nights always seem to be friendly and the club itself is decent. They could do with an extra set of speakers towards the back as we lost a lot of sound back there so had to keep moving forward, it's possible that this is why Dettmann's set seemed a bit flat to us.

Also in my head I had defiantly prepared to go on into the day a bit further and had accepted that I'd probably have to spend a fair bit to get back to Bristol for it to only finish dead on 10 despite what they said in the email. That was disappointing but probably a good thing, we got back to Bristol and ended up in the pub until late Sunday with a good friend so not all bad! Somehow have escaped from feeling to bad and was able to work easily enough yesterday and today.

Last night out of the year on Boxing day. There is a Techno/trance/psyrance party going on in London so going to head down for that, starts at 5pm and ends at 8am so hopefully the musics good and we can end the year on a high. We're working new year and then having a break until the end of January. What are your plans on here?

Who's on your Boxing Day line up? I'm going up to Newcastle for the Everton game on Boxing day myself, so I'm not entirely sure what the plan is when we get back. Radio Slave, Ryan Elliot and Slam are on in Liverpool so I could pay on the door for that. The thing is though with Liverpool nights on Boxing day, taxis are impossible to get, and it's just a general ball ache to get around in addition to all the dickheads who like to go out. It's the same for NYE so I think I might just stay local and go the boozer.

I always thought the Warehouse Project on NYD was the better night out tbh. Far better crowd and djs.

No one I've heard of -

Jay Om **VERY SPECIAL GUEST** Free-Spirit Records (2 Hour set)
DJ Erc *Resident at Futurity
Dave King *Guest DJ
Jon Cockle *Resident DJ for John 00 Fleming & DanceLoveHub
Lauren Lyon *Resident at DanceLoveHub
Matt© *Guest DJ
Fin *Guest DJ
Craig Fowler *Guest DJ

I added the woman putting the night on a while ago as I noticed she was putting on a lot of psy trance parties. Techno & Psy trance is our heaven and should be good anyway as looks like their parties have been fun and the venue looks interesting.

Radio Slave, Elliot and Slam should be good! Especially if Elliot is playing his harder stuff, I saw him twice in the last year and once was really good but the house set he played at Just Jack was awful. We were shocked it was the same guy but Just Jack is mainly a house night so of course that explains it. Was generally an awful night to be honest. Slam push some quality stuff on their label, not caught them playing yet. I'd be going if it was local to me. :)

Yeah we usually go to a small local party for new year as anything else is over hyped and usually over priced.

That was quality, don't think we stopped dancing for the 14 hours. Currently dancing around the house in a kaftan listening to Rebekahs set from Jaded.

Post your track of the year here. Lots to choose from this year, but I love this typically atmospheric and melodic tune from Guy Mantzur

Two people have died after Cream's Boxing Night event in Liverpool. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-35197126 This is always incredibly sad when people go out to have a good time and don't end up coming home. But why is that we can't have a sensible discussion in this country about Ecstasy. I know you have talked at length in the drugs thread about this Natch, do you ever reckon we'll see the day where we adopt a similar approach to Portugal on drugs policy?

The reason people die on ecstasy is though ignorance of the drug/recklessness, having an allergic reaction, or through contamination. I doubt decriminalization would help much with any of those issues.

Ignorance is a factor, but until any post mortem results are released we won't know. I know of people who work at these events who say that legal highs are an increasing problem because its more difficult dealing with people who have an adverse reaction to unknown legal highs. Surely having a system whereby there could be a form of regulation so that people have an idea of what's in a pill/how strong it is would be beneficial for everyone.

I think in order to have a regulatory body you'd need legalization rather than decriminalization, which is what Portugal has.

Oh my big topic. I'm on my phone so hopefully I don't ramble to much and I'll keep it simple.

I agree that the overall aim has to be legalisation or as I like to call it: Regulation. This will allow the government to properly control and monitor the drugs trade including taxation.

Transform Drug Policy Foundation (Check them out) produced a book five years ago called a "Blueprint for regulation" The basic idea iirc is that for most drugs you would go to a local dispenser where a trained member of staff would sell you the drug of your choice and be able to advise you on its use etc. It would also mean that you were easily linked into services if you ran into trouble.

This would obviously reduce the risk of harm massively. Lack of education and a dodgy source of drugs are the number one causes of drug deaths. You have pills that are wildly different in strength and then you have others that are full of shit like PMA.

I know that EG says ignorance is a cause of death but I think that's a slightly harsh word. Drug awareness teaching is virtually non existent because the message is still "DON'T DO IT YOU WILL DIE" then people take drugs, don't die and ignore all the stuff they've been told including some of the stuff that might be useful. Because the over riding message has to be zero tolerance its very hard to educate people properly on how to reduce risk. Not everyone knows about erowid or that they can buy home testing kits online because it's not advertised. The one site that is advertised (Frank) is an utter embarrassment and so people tend to learn from their peers who have bad habits themselves.

It's hard for example for festivals to try and put harm reduction facilities in place because they worry they will be seen as soft on drugs and lose their licence. This is slowly changing with boomtown having some stuff in place this year etc.

That being said there are still big benefits to decriminalisation. Looking at it from a raving point of view decriminalisation allows organisers to put harm reduction models like drugs testing in place. I've seen this in Amsterdam and Portugal. People use it and they are able to make informed decisions on the drugs they are taking. If someone still decides to irresponsibly take a research chemical then that's their prerogative. They are able to put warnings out like the dodgy research chemical that made people trip for up to 35 hours. I knew to avoid that if I was offered it.

Also it meant that I could seek help if myself or my friends ran into trouble without fear of being thrown out or even worse getting arrested. It creates a free and open environment where people feel safe and unrushed.

Compare that to the complete car crash security at uk festivals where I've been treated like a criminal before I've even got in and had dogs running all around me. These harsh approaches actually increase the risk of harm. People still take drugs in and no one can check what they've been sold. You can't ask for help or advice and I've seen people panic when they've seen dogs and do most of their stuff in one go! We are so far backwards here it is unreal so even a step towards decriminalisation would be a huge improvement.

So can I see it happening here? Drug deaths are at an all time in the UK since records began. There are increasing bodies of research here coming out against prohibition. There are police forces that have said the war on drugs is a waste of time. Slowly people are getting fed up but sadly this government and the one before are still stuck in the same rut of ignoring the problem because they don't want to seem soft on drugs. What they don't see is that they are actually soft on drug dealers who make a fortune out of others misery. It will change but its going to be a slow process.

Interestingly abroad things are happening much quicker. With the high profile cases of cannabis legalisation in America and talk or general decriminalisation sweeping across places such as Ireland, Germany and of all places Iran we will be left far behind at this rate. Not to mention the Central and South American countries who have suffered the most also saying they've had enough.

The UN are holding a massive assembly next year on the matter with many people ad agencies backing change.

Transform think it will be another four years. I hope they are right but sadly there will be many more needless deaths before things change here.

I've been thinking about my top tracks this year but it's hard to just pick one. My artist of the year has to be Fautzi though.

Forgot about this for one of the best tunes of 2015. It's one of those for me that takes you right back to a specific night out. Pure bliss

The 10 or 15 mins at 37.00 here are well good...
...that breakdown at 43.30 is lovely.

This set should be listened by everyone ever too, btw...

Haha it's not utter shite, I would have loved that a few years back but when I was going to a fair few breakcore nights. It's good but a tad pummelling at times. 2007 me would be disappointed with me right now haha. The jungley stuff is definitely the best, but the ones who also manage to fuse other elements in there are the most interesting for me; Venetian Snares, Shitmat, Cardopusher (before he started making dubstep), Luke Vibert, DJ Parasite (Bristol!)...all mentioned in this thread before I think.
