Cardiff are putting on some great little nights at the moment Bluebird! We're coming down to catch Dave Clarke in a couple of weeks.
As this draws nearer I'm all the more tempted by it, the bank really wouldn't appreciate it though!

Can buy our tickets if you want? I'm working now so can't go.

Bloc was quality. Met some absolute belters. Rodhad stand out but Lakker, O [Phase], Daniel Miller, Joe Farr, Helena Huff and Dasha Rush all quality too. Still getting over it now so kinda glad to miss this weekend tbh! Security were dicks but that's a rant for another thread.

Cheers for the offer mate but I'm saving myself for Easter. Going to see Wilkinson on the Friday in the o2 Academy, Jamie Jones in Motion on the Saturday, then back to Cardiff on Sunday for Cellar Door.
I don't know if I'll live to see the Monday tbh..

Loving Developer's new album. All very solid songs:

We had a good old Phaeleh session the other night. He makes such beautiful music.

"In Colour" by Jamie xx is really good, best electronic album I've listened to in ages. "The Names" by Baio (Vampire Weekend bassist) is almost just as good.

That Developer album is a banger, been out of touch with Techno a bit lately but my mate actually played me some at the weekend and it's class.

Tale of Us play a wicked set too, saw them in Newcastle last year.

Listening to a lot of Neuro-funk/D&B lately (of the dark variety) in case anyones into that, tunes I'm rinsing at the moment:

I still feel broken, however I don't know if that's due to a horrific comedown or I just can't hack weekend sessions anymore!

The o2 academy has one of the strangest set ups I've seen. Wilkinson was done and dusted by 10pm. And even though it was only an hour set he played it was one of the better live performances I've seen. They then kicked everyone out, only for it to then reopen an hour later! Spent the rest of the night there at the Ramshackle event they run every Friday which is one of the best nights I've had.
The Saturday was a no go in the end as we couldn't get a hotel anywhere for the night (that wasn't £400!) so we just headed back and crashed for the whole day!
As for Sunday, well the guys that put Cellar Door on never fail to disappoint. Absolutely banging tunes, awesome crowd where everyone is there for the music and the extras that go with it. IMO it's one of the key players in the scene that is being built in Cardiff. If I could recommend people to a night out like this in Cardiff it would be to a Cellar Door event.

All in all a brilliant weekend even if I did miss out on a first trip to Motion, I shall be making a trip there very soon though.

Like the two Neuro-funk songs, I always find it gets a bit samey on a night out which I know is rich coming from me as I like Techno.

Yeah O2 is an awful venue to be honest, not been to Rami in years. It used to be a strictly Indie night but then I think it changed when that scene died a death. Sounds like you had a good weekend.

My mates went to the Dave Clarke night and said it was brilliant! Apparently the venue was quality with a great soundsystem.

Off to see Ansome and Headless Horseman tonight which should be good, not often we get such class in Bristol and with Inigo Kennedy coming to town at the end of the month maybe things are changing? Tonight's in an Old Mortuary which is part of the Lakota complex I think, pretty sure I've been there before but not sure. Lakota know what they are doing though so hopefully should be good. One things for sure it will be banging.

The amount of security and the childish rules they have in place is definitely a mark against, I had my chewing gums confiscated for fucks sake!

I've not been to Jacobs Market yet, have however heard the same as you about it being a brilliant venue. Next Cardiff night for me is on the 1st of May, The Martinez Brothers are playing in the Vaults which will be a quality night I'm sure.

Will have to organise a 1FF rave someday, would be interesting!

Yeah Digweed is playing at o2 next month which I would have been tempted to check out but not there.

Yeah I'd be up for a 1FF rave. Can be pretty picky about nights though. :p

Yeah its on the same time as Martinez Brothers, and it was easier to organise that than a night in Bristol so we decided to stay at home.

Ha! Just fill yourself up with alcohol/drugs(or both!) and let whatever music it is take control of you!

That Ansome tune is power, how was the night?

Martinez Brothers are always a decent night when I've seen them like, me pal used to live in Cardiff and said it was a well good night out if there's something on but I've never had a look down.

Yeah I've not seen them before so looking forward to it! Missed out on them last year at DC10 when I went to Ibiza. The scene down here died a huge death a few years ago when the Hippo Club went. Luckily for us locals it's picked up again and is pulling in some big names again.

Ah never good mate, it's a bit 50/50 up here really. Just runs off the demand from students so in term time we get some bangers coming up but outside of term time is a bit hit and miss.

Newcastle that is, Durham is shit haha.

Yeah we're quite lucky down here tbh, tend to have a good array of talent all year round. Ben Klock was announced last week for the August bank holiday which should be a right treat. I will be honest though I find myself much more excited for the local DJ's that smash the tunes out at the smaller nights like Cellar Door and Journey.

Always wanted to do a session up in Newcastle as well, just never got round to it!

Real good night if somethings on like mate, do like a good night in town.
Yeah I like seeing some local DJs spin, into a lot of bass music and we've got a lot of good DJs and producers on that scene up here.

Ben Klock is probably top 3 DJs I've seen, saw him at Dettmann b2b at Fabric about 2 years ago now I think. Unfuckingbelievable.

Yeah it was a really good night, perfect venue and a decent soundsystem. Giant Swan who opened were playing some brilliant atmospheric experimental stuff and then Ansome came on and banged out a brilliant set, one of the best I've heard for a long time. Headless Horseman was good too but couldn't match the heights of Ansome. A really great night and inspired me to start thinking once again about putting a night on. It's been a while since I went to a night that was as good as that one.

A video from Ansome of Giant Swan that should give you an idea. This was at about 12AM :)

Echo the above comments - it's always nice when the local DJ's smash things apart. I've not heard of Castle nights before Bluebird have given them a follow on facebook. Have you ever heard of Sub : Culture?

No mate can't say that I have, tbh I'm still fairly green when it comes to the whole raving scene. But I am trying to make up for lost time with it all!

Think I remember you sharing that in the box the last time that we were having a few drinks. I like it. Proper heavy and never heard anything like it before.
