I cant work out if I am happy about this or not.

Going with my head: I dont want him. He has flopped elsewhere and when he was at QPR last time, he started playing centre backs up top and making very weird subs before eventually whoring himself out to Leicester.

Going with my heart: He made QPR a club to be proud of. He got us promoted from Division 2 and built one of QPRs most legendary teams, at least since we were originally relegated from the prem. QPR fans such as Gallen, Bircham, Cook. Added with club legends such as Ainsworth, Rowlands, Shittu and the passion Holloway himself brought was second to none.

I will back him all day long but I think I have to go with my head and think it is the wrong choice, purely brought in to appease the fans who arent happy. I would guess it will be a short term contract to see how he does and reassess in the summer.

Any club would be lucky to be of interest to the genius who is Paul Jewell.

So we have him back. And watching his first interview has made me happy. Is he the right man for the job? Probably not. But he just makes me happy, he knows the club (cliche i know), he knows what the fans want etc. He will get the team trying again and playing attacking football - that is all we want.

Late surge for play offs? Prob not, but he gets my full backing and he will get more support from fans than Sherwood would have (though, I would have quite liked him).

If you've got a spectrum of approach, with idealism at one pole and pragmatism at the other, then you'd probably put someone like Wenger halfway between idealism and the centre-ground, Mourinho halfway between the centre-ground and pragmatism, and someone like Ferguson bang in the centre, in that sweet spot.

Holloway is an intransigent idealist. If that pole is material then he's tied his flag firmly around it. That's great if he's got the players and resources to do it and if everyone is on-board, but even when it brings short-term success it can't ever be sustainable over the longer term. We were absolutely terrible under him because he had us trying to play like Arsenal when we only had third-tier players (and third-tier is being kind to the likes of Richard Chaplow and Martyn Woolford).

He's also got a giant ego and talks absolute shit. He was never a good fit here.

Yeah he mentioned that in his interview with us, that his style did not suit you (or players more importantly) and that he did not have the same relationship with your fans and how you played.

Was quite surprised to see Holloway had got the job at QPR, it wouldn't surprise me if he fails but then again it wouldn't surprise me if he succeeds. It's a pretty decent squad at QPR and if he can man manage them better and find a system to suit them they'll do pretty well, be interested to see how he gets on as before his failure at Millwall he was certainly a manager everyone wanted.

This may be as good a place as any to ask Forest fans how Montanier is doing? Judging by the league position, not very good.

Colin Calderwood placed on gardening leave on Saturday to work his notice. Wonder where he's off to.

Bit untimely. Bloom will make sure they stump up plenty in compensation or we'll make him serve his 3-month notice period..

Expect Trollope will probably come in to replace him, worked under Hughton at Birmingham & Norwich (alongside CC).

Alex Neil next to join this thread? Norwich fans I know think the players won't play for him any more so it's hard to see a way back.

A lot wanted him out after we beat them...I think they've been a bit unfortunate to come up against a couple of decent sides and obviously going down to 10 men after a minute last week. But yeah, if he doesn't go now, he's gonna have to get a win next week I imagine.

Can I throw Holloways name in there? We have only won 1 game from 4 and we have Derby and Villa up next. Some fans (not me) want him out already. Some fans are terrible.

The very ones who were after JFH to be sacked, are now saying that we should have stuck with him as we would not have lost 3 in a row. You couldn't make it up.

He has been sacked.

Gary’s contract, and those of his backroom staff – Kevin Summerfield, Mark Sale, Kevin Poole and Darren Robinson – have been terminated with immediate effect.

This has not been an easy decision to make.

The Board would like to thank Gary and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them all the best for the future.

Gary came in and immediately stabilised the team amid difficult circumstances and during his tenure improved the Club’s fortunes on the field.

He has conducted himself professionally on behalf of the Club at all times and there is a genuine sadness at this course of action.

However, new owners Trillion Trophy Asia Limited (TTAL) remains determined to lead the Club to a bright and exciting future.

Supporters can rest assured that the decision has been taken with a strategic, long-term view and with the Club’s best interests at heart.

An immediate replacement will be sought in order to afford the new manager the time to assess where the existing playing squad needs strengthening. The Board recognises the urgency required given that the transfer window will open at the start of January and funds have been made available.

TTAL has been involved with the Club for more than 18 months and has reviewed all playing and non-playing matters during that period.

Club Director Panos Pavlakis, on behalf of the Board, said: “Such a parting of the ways is always difficult, particularly so on a personal level as I have worked very closely with Gary and have got to know him well. Our relationship was very strong but in football you can never stand still.

"I would ask that our supporters trust our judgement and look forward to and embrace the future as we begin to implement the exciting vision of TTAL.”

The Club will be making no further comment at this stage.

Sacking your manager ahead of the biggest run of the games of the year doesn't strike me as particularly good long term thinking to tell the truth.

Feels like there must be something going on behind the scenes, like a new manager already lined up, because on the face of it this decision makes no sense.
