I think the issue with British Managers is they're very much set in their way and the model they've been used to.

And quite often they are just as likely to walk away if things are getting tough or look for better (understandable)

We had Brendan Rodgers and Malky Mackay before the Pozzos came in - both walked out on us so maybe its why the Pozzos don't trust British managers! (Admit at the time we were hardly the most ambitious or wealthy club..)

I must give a bit of credit to these overseas managers for coming over and giving it a go in a different culture (ok the money might be good) but maybe more of our coaches (and players) need to do that abroad to widen their experiences and ability

I think the main issue is we aren't used to the Director of Football role and the manager basically having no say in transfers in this country.

Also these overseas owners aren't afraid to be ruthless and just act straight away if they want change although some have totally ruined their clubs of course.

Well it won't be Ranieri joining this thread, his move to Nantes scuppers any Leeds interest or rumours.

McInnes to Sunderland.

I think the issue with British Managers is they're very much set in their way and the model they've been used to, mainly as players, and rarely deviate away from it, we've had just four English managers lift a major domestic trophy since the start of the PL, SAF basically dominated for two decades and the rest have been mediocre.

I look around the EFL and hand on heart if we got rid of Carvalhal I couldn't think of a manager I'd want to replace him from that crop.
Whos the four to lift a donestic trophy? Mcclaren, rednapp whos other 2?

Pretty sad hence why i probably watch more lower league football now. And next season the wait for a english manager to win a trophy will continue
Nah, we're winning the FA Cup, mate, Brucey will buck the trend next season.

Ours to be announced today. My expectations are low.

Could go either way (obviously). Under Cellino I would've given the guy until October but the new chairman is relatively uncharted territory. Hard to get enthused about someone who's won the European equivalent of a Sunday morning League. Got to back him I suppose, give him a chance.

True he could be the next Wagner/Carvalhal/Jokanovic/Stam or the next Venglos/Milanic etc

The issue I think you'll have is recruitment, Monk did a lot of good work on that front and made you you a good strong side but losing Bartley is a blow and needs replacing quickly.

Last season's success for Leeds won't help the new guy either. Monk replaced Evans with little expectation. Now, fans will start airing their anger if Leeds aren't around the play-off places again.

Was thinkimg that myself, every post I come across seems to mention 'foreign managers' this, 'chinese owners' that...
Maybe some of us are sick of it the ever increasing amount of English teams are effectively teams from abroad who play at a ground in England. Look at Watford how many English players in starting 11, 1! About time the fa limited the amount of non UK players to no more than half a dozen in the starting 11. What chance do young players and up and comeing managers have, league 1 at best?

Well if English players stopped costing £30million+ for playing 31 Premier League games, perhaps more clubs would have them in their teams.

Whilst I fully agree we don't have many and some fans are a bit frustrated by it the likes
Man City/Chelsea/Liverpool need to start bringing through young talent because they'd then hopefully be up to the standard of the top players whereas in the main any youngsters we have won't be I suspect (or if they are would be poached by a bigger club)

Liverpool just seem to buy any decent young player from Southampton!

Clubs don't take a chance so much on young talent because there is the instant demand for results and success - maybe if there was less money and importance on the end result and managers were given time then more might break through.

Fair play to Everton as an example for giving kids a go but Koeman is building a team for the future and will presumably be given time..until they go on a bad run and the pressure will be on no doubt.

Sorry for going off topic - this is a Championship thread about managers - the fact 5 of the top 6 clubs had overseas bosses maybe says something?

For every Forest/Wolves there was Reading/Huddersfield and Fulham.

Newcastle did have a world class coach in charge so slightly different for them.

I understand IF Brexit does fully happen there might be more chances for British players to get games as the rules on non-EU players will be tighter?

You could say rafa benitez was a gamble at newcastle. Could have gone either way. But he seemed to know which english players to go for and he does know the lingo. Likes of watford are commical when they change managers every season, some cant even speak english. At least ashley gives managers time
