Lambert will be sacked tomorrow, and Nuno will be drafted in straight away.

Probably based on his CV one of the best coaches to ever manage in this league. Very surprised he has come here, was linked with the Man Utd post when Van Gaal left there.

Bit harsh on Lambert but when your replacing him with someone with a CV like that it's hard to complain. I don't know how much say Mendes has in your transfer goings on at Wolves but I'm sure I've read somewhere he's works alongside Wednesday quite frequently?

Mendes is linked with nearly all of our transfers. Costa, Cavaliero, Silvio were all Mendes players, and I think more will come over the summer.

Seriously excited about this, out with mediocre and pushing the boat out. It may go tits up but I'm glad we're making changes and trying something different other than same old same old. UTW

He did a bang average job and would have bought more rubbish this summer. We need better if we want to challenge

Exactly, it's a real coup to get him. Think we've finally got an appointment right, third time lucky. Fingers crossed

So you'd rather sack Lambert and have a shit season than keep him and have an average season?

It's one of those real 'mixed feelings' times. On the one hand, Lambert's football was turgid; on the other hand, we looked like we had turned around and with some of his desired signings this summer, we could push on.

I am probably not the only one who is concerned about the fact that Mendes has a hand in arranging/promoting/finalising signings for players going to our competition.

Not pleased but not unhappy, gave some of the you're players a chance, but arguably didn't play them enough with how comfortable some of them looked. Marshall has turned out to be a good signing from the looks of it, however I was concerned with his statement about wanting more British players. That isn't the way forward.

Yep. But some of the British players mentioned seemed good. Steele, Hanley. Some of the dredgings Mendes got us last year didn't set the place on fire.

Probably more concerned to see Rob Edwards and Tony Daley going.

No worries, we have about 17,000 of the best Championship managers in the ground every other week in season.

I'm guessing that someone like Nuno would only come if he was promised a lot of money.

Edited: Excellent article by Steve Wollaston in the Birmingham Mail here. Don't agree with everything he writes in it, but I do share the general sentiment. Shabby.

No, I'd rather do something different by appointing a manager with pedigree than keep hold of a bang average manager.

He wanted to pay £3 million for Jason Steele and £5 million for Jordan fucking Hugill from Preston North fucking end. Enough said!

You don't know that. Out of interest, do you froth at the mouth, dribble and shout when you talk? You seem really angry with everyone who has a different opinion from you.

What is the craze of the continental head coach bollocks personally I think it's a flawed system. It was a disaster at Newcastle and if it went back that way benetez would walk and I don't blame him. Brian Clough knew makes a good point, go to

Bloke asking Clough the question about managers is Darren Fletcher who now commentates for BT Sport.

We in this country may think it's a flawed system, but then we are very much alone in that and are bottom of the league in terms of producing top managers and coaches and world class players. At Wolves we have seen first hand the implications of the British method, when during the 90s we had a succession of managers who all pissed money away bringing in their players, only to fail, get sacked, and get replaced by a manager who'd set about replacing the vast majority of the playing squad.

Paul Lambert is an ex footballer, and ex footballers have no divine right to have a say in the finances and recruiting of methods of a company with a long term vision (that is all football clubs, not just Wolves) when it is rare for a manager to be there even as long as 5 seasons.

Sporting directors and Directors of football are not the future, merely clubs attempts to join the 1960s when most decent European sides all had them firmly entrenched.

But if you're down in the relegation zone within 6 months of Nuno coming in would you believe that you should've kept Lambert?

Nuno is official. Outstanding appointment, credit to Fosun on showing such ambition.

Also like thank Paul Lambert and his staff, I'm sure they'll get another job in no time.

Never known a 2nd tier club to have billionaire owners, a manager of Champions League quality, and the most powerful agent in the world on board.

Insantity... We'll no doubt go down now.

Can see Wolves breaking the all time highest Championship transfer fee this summer, was it £13M for Costa in January? Now with a big name manager and Chinese owners I could even see them spending £20M on somebody.

We were prepeared to spend 20m last summer on Anderson Talisca, but he chose to go to Besiktas instead.
