Pep Clotet's odds have shortened significantly over the last few days. Not sure what to think really, he's unproven but has a great rapport with the current squad and could continue the good work set down last season.

He strikes me as an assistant that was always good enough to take a head coach/manager's role at some point. Could go either way - Hughton was an assistant coach before he took a more prominent job....but then so was Kevin Blackwell.

Funny thing is, given that most of the Championship managerial changes have now been made, Nuno could well be favourite to be next for the "Chairman's vote of confidence".

Grayson to Sunderland is gaining too much momentum for my liking.

If i was him id stay at preston where getting a top half finish would keep him in job. Sundeelands a poison challis

You would think they would have a bigger budget and have a lot more potential to get into the Premier League. Sometimes aiming for mid table isn't enough for managers.

Surely you recognise this mug;

Ex CSKA manager and has been with the Russian national team for the last few years. Every appointment is a gamble, continental or not!
He's been living in England for the last year or so under the hospitality of his mate Abramovich learning the language, attending games, doing his research etc because he wanted a job in England. I think he'll do well.

Was linked with us - can always take our job when it comes available next summer!

I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him...

Yes the guys face looks familiar and if appointed shows why direction the championships going. Whats the craze with all these coaches from abroad. What chance will english managers stand in a few year, league 1 at best! Maybe the continentals are more puppets/yes men

British managers are and will always be welcome here, not had a manager who hasn't been English or Scottish in our entire history.
I think it just depends on the owners, foreign owners tend to network much more than the domestic ones.

We've had three foreign managers. None have done especially well.

Dr Jozef Venglos (THE first foreign manager in England, in the top flight at least anyway)... Lasted one season before being sacked, we finished 17th with this team:

Lee Butler
Nigel Spink
Andy Comyn
Kevin Gage
Derek Mountfield
Chris Price
Bernie Gallacher
Paul McGrath
Kent Nielsen
Ivo Staš
Mark Blake
Nigel Callaghan
Gordon Cowans
Tony Daley
Stuart Gray
David Platt
Ian Olney
Ian Ormondroyd
Gary Penrice
Tony Cascarino
Dwight Yorke

For perspective, we finished 2nd a season later under Big Ron with a not much changed team.

Next up was Gerard Houllier, the team could NOT gel for ages, then it did and we went on a great run towards the end of the season to bring us from a relegation scrap to 9th. Unfortunately he got ill and had to resign, I often wonder what would have happened had he stayed, as everything had just clicked, then we got McLeish... The less said about that, the better.

Next up was Roberto Di Matteo.... Do I need to elaborate on this one?

Go on. Not seeing the pattern.
Foreign managers had been a disaster for villa? To be fair they aint done much at newcastle. Ozzy ardiles (argentina), ruud gullit (dutch), steve mcclaren (dutch) infact theres only been 4 managers outside uk and ireland in newcastles history

When was last uk manager you had sean dsyche? Your last manager was why this foreign coach model is becomeing a joke. Needed a translater in interviews and only had one english player in regular starting 11, troy deenay. It should not be allowed

Ironically, alot of the foreign managers you've listed seem to have a better grip on the English language than you do...

Monk is the new Boro manager. I imagine he's been offered money which Leeds couldn't. Big season for him really, be interesting to see what he can do with a budget to spend

The Wednesday
I think the issue with British Managers is they're very much set in their way and the model they've been used to, mainly as players, and rarely deviate away from it, we've had just four English managers lift a major domestic trophy since the start of the PL, SAF basically dominated for two decades and the rest have been mediocre.

I look around the EFL and hand on heart if we got rid of Carvalhal I couldn't think of a manager I'd want to replace him from that crop.
