Pretty much just put this in the Premier League section, he had 2 great seasons here and if not for fine margins we could be in the Premier League. I think he'll do alright there.

He's spent about 40m ffs, I bet no other club who hasn't had parachute payments has spent near that amount and are paying wages you are. He comes across as a nice bloke and it's rare I think that about 1 of you're managers. But as a manager he did exactly what he should have done and got you to the playoffs in both seasons and should have been up there this season too but failed miserably. The playoffs are a lottery really so he was slightly unlucky on that front. I ain't saying he will fail at Swansea but I wouldn't be too pleased if I was a Swansea fan appointed a man who got sacked 4 days ago in a league below for being shit. But good luck to him not arsed how he does but like I said I never disliked him like some of your other managers.

The same managers always getting sacked and then hired again for similar jobs. Wish teams would give new, young, upcoming managers a shot.

Think they liked him in the first spell but they did keep bottling it at the end of each season.

McLaren was great as a coach with Jim Smith, back the 1990s. He then went to become assistant to Alex Ferguson at Man U, and again he contributed towards them winning the treble.

That's the crux, he's a very good coach. But once he's put in a more managerial role he has mixed success.

For us, yes great first time round the football was brilliant and most will agree we should have beaten QPR at Wembley. But the next season once we lost a couple of players through injuries, had a few dodgy results, he had no answers. Then Newcastle were whispering in his ear and it affected the whole club.

Second time around a lot of fans weren't as happy to see him back given how he appeared to engineer his move to Newcastle. We started well enough but again once the wheels came off he had no clue.

He really ought to stick with coaching now.

He's held talks according to the wonderful sheffield star. Would you be happy if you get him? If I was you I'm not sure id want to stick with bullet but I wouldn't want McLaren or any of the merry go round lot. You need to try someone in the lower leagues doing well like we did and bristol city did. Or go down the route with what you did with carvalhal like Leeds have done too with their man, someone who's not managed at this level/country is what I mean. Derby also doing well with a manager who's never failed.

I think Lambert gets a bad rep, he isn't as bad as people make him out to be. We looked certain to go down with Zenga in the end until Lambert took over, stablized the club and gave us a couple of decent FA cup wins vs Stoke and Liverpool. Then again you could probably do better.

They sure do. Pardew, pulis, hodgson, allardyche, rednapp, warnock etc seem to be the go to guys. Look at crystal palce in recent times they have had pardew, pulis, warnock, alardyche and now hodgson from the relegation vetran merry go round managers pool

Does anybody think if some of the managers doing well at this level or below would do any worse than Jose,klopp,conte etc with the amount they have to spend and talent they inherit. Pep guardiola walked into the best team there has ever been for his 1st job, then took a job you can't fail at with bayern and spends 400m in 2 seasons at city, no wonder they are top, granted it's sensational football but judge them in big champs league games 1st.

Up and comeing managers from the uk particulary in the championship will never get a look in the top flight now as it seems the top teams have policys of no uk managers. Look at chelsea for example not been a manager there from the uk for over 20 year

I agree, there is a new generation of English managers out there but owners and fans like the tried and tested dinosaur method when push comes to shove, and when these up and comers get into bigger jobs they tend to get the shove a lot quicker. Then to be replaced by a Tony Pulis or Steve McClaren.

Failure seems to be rewarded in this country, that is the core of the problem. Steve McClaren has been sacked so many times in recent years yet he is living off a half decent spell at Middlesbrough and in Holland nearly a decade ago. Many other examples too.

Everton being the prime example appointing big Sam. We've done it ourselves too in the past, so glad we saw past it last time. We have got a man in charge who's been good every where he's been yet I doubt a prem club would even consider him.
