I don't know what i make of him, if I'm being honest.
I think he's a quality manager, things just went a bit stale at Wednesday and when that football stopped getting results it was only ever going to end one way.
They were an absolute joy to watch in their first season under him though.
Pretty much just put this in the Premier League section, he had 2 great seasons here and if not for fine margins we could be in the Premier League. I think he'll do alright there.
Steve McClaren has left his job in Israel.
On his way to Wednesday?
Would piss myself at that.
He's favourite but that doesn't mean a great deal. I thought derby fans liked him, I personally think it would be a terrible appointment for Wednesday.
Nixon has poured cold water on the McClaren rumours. Wouldn't surprise me if Bullen gets it until May.
He's held talks according to the wonderful sheffield star. Would you be happy if you get him? If I was you I'm not sure id want to stick with bullet but I wouldn't want McLaren or any of the merry go round lot. You need to try someone in the lower leagues doing well like we did and bristol city did. Or go down the route with what you did with carvalhal like Leeds have done too with their man, someone who's not managed at this level/country is what I mean. Derby also doing well with a manager who's never failed.
No I really don't want him! Like you say too many of these failed managers just go round and round in circles, would rather see us take a punt on Paul Hurst from Shrewsbury or Dean Smith at Brentford. Obviously would love Fonseca but that ain't gonna happen in a million years.
Hurst is Wednesday through and through too.Dean Smith would be good so I hope you don't get him obviously. Paul Hurst who knows he deserves a chance but that's the problem they don't get chances
Hurst is Wednesday through and through too.
Hurst with McClaren as DOF as a conduit between Chairman and manager is just about palatable though I wouldn't want it.
Heard Lambert is close, which is just as shit.
They sure do. Pardew, pulis, hodgson, allardyche, rednapp, warnock etc seem to be the go to guys. Look at crystal palce in recent times they have had pardew, pulis, warnock, alardyche and now hodgson from the relegation vetran merry go round managers poolThe same managers always getting sacked and then hired again for similar jobs. Wish teams would give new, young, upcoming managers a shot.
No wonder we never see any English managers get any big jobs here or abroad, the same talent pool recycled every year.
The British manager mentality is the issue, they are, in the main old school and won't adapt to the ever changing landscape in football.
4-4 fucking 2
The big lad up front
Etc etc.
Also the cost of elite level coaching badges here compared to Europe is scandalous
Aye the majority are dinosaurs, sadly English football fans seem to like them.
Not all of them are and yet still never get a chance
I agree, there is a new generation of English managers out there but owners and fans like the tried and tested dinosaur method when push comes to shove, and when these up and comers get into bigger jobs they tend to get the shove a lot quicker. Then to be replaced by a Tony Pulis or Steve McClaren.
