Would be typical, just before you play us.

Would be a very odd, very uninspiring appointment if true. He is still behind Bruce, Wagner and Smith at the moment, mind you.

To me someone like Cotterill (not necessarily him personally) would signify someone coming in to stabilise the club and ensure staying in the division for next season rather than still believing things can be achieved this season.

Yup. We need more ambition, I understand that at the moment we are looking at a relegation dogfight, but with this squad we shouldn't be, we shouldn't now be looking to stay in the division due to a bad blip. Not even a quarter of the season gone yet, we can't give up on it this soon, get through to January into a mid-tableish position, and we can actually buy players we need (midfield ffs), and look at pushing on for a play-off/automatic place.

The season is far from over. On paper I'd say we easily have one of the best teams, if not the best. It's that simple, we just need the right manager. Do I think we will make the playoffs? Sod knows, anything is possible in this league. We could even go down if we appoint the wrong man. Now that would be a disaster, but as I've said anything is possible in this league .

As long as we don't go down the Wolves route. RDM could have been our Stale Bread, and the next manager (more likely in my opinion if it does turn out to be Cotterrill) could be our Dean Saunders. No thank you.

You could just get Dean Saunders and have done with it...

Glad Trollope has gone, the bloke had lost the dressing room before the season had even started. The only problem is the people left in charge of bringing in a replacement are the same idiots that gave him the job in the first place.
Warnock has been mentioned, which given how pathetic some of the performances have been I'd happily take him. Would certainly give some of the tarts the kick up the arse they need.
Should also add Giggs and Bellamy heavily linked. Bellamy I'm indifferent to, would be a gamble but would get them giving 100%. Giggs would just turn us into Man Utd reserves and that worked out so well last time round...

I've heard some stupid names being thrown about by our lot, who are quite frankly deluded.

Cotterill would get a tune out of that Villa squad, Baker and Kodjia were both superb under his management at this level, let alone the rest of the talent you have.

honestly mate, forget giggs or Bellamy, they will take you down. Warnock is a good steady bet, and like you say, he won't take no shit.

This the same Cotterill who got sacked because you lot were heading only one way to be replaced by Johnson who actually kept you up with relative ease in the end and currently has you in a play-off position. That Cotterrill?

Yeah, but he was sacked because of his stubbornness. You have the second best squad in the league, we had the best in L1 and he absolutely pissed it with us. Quite a shit comparison, but the point is if he's got the resources he'll meet expectations.

He had resources with you. The expectation was stay up. He was failing and was sacked. I'd be extremely disappointed in his appointment were it to come to fruition.

That would be a proper "welcome to the Championship" managerial appointment. Not knocking the guy, his CV isn't too shabby but he's a bit of a step down in calibre than Villa have been used to for the past decade or so.

The expectation was to carry the momentum into the next season and possibly mount a challenge for the top six at the beginning of the summer. Without going into too much detail, the reason it all went tits up is because of the sort of players we went after that turned us down (Gayle, Gray, Lingard etc). He'd have players of that ilk available to him at Villa.

I'm not saying it'd be an inspiring appointment by any means, Villa could do much better, but he'd definitely get that squad firing. Believe me, I was underwhelmed when we appointed him at the bottom of L1.

Nothing personal against Holloway, but all we are is a half arsed club who used to be famous :bg: Seriously though I do find him very entertaining, a true character in the game of football.

I'd be pissed off if I was a Villa fan and appointed Cotterill. League one is his level.

Villa could do worse than appointing cotterill but I wouldn't call it a good signing for them, he's good in league one like someone pointed out unless they're planning ahead.. wouldn't be surprised to see him at Cardiff mind with their recent history in appointing managers..

Best team based on what? Money spent?

Ayew, McCormack and Kodjia aside, your team is no better than Brighton, Huddersfield and even Derby at present. For the ‘firepower’ Villa fans keep droning on about on Twitter and H&V, only three clubs have scored less. Villa have grossly overspent on average players, namely Elphick, Gollini, Tshibola, Chester, Jedinak and De Laet.

I hope Holloway remembers to wear his Blues jumper when he gets interviewed for the Villa job

Signifying the gap between Blues and Villa in the table
