Putting in our worst performance of the season in front of a sold out Madejski.. not really going to help his cause.

Surely he must be close, like Sheffield Wednesday we had similar ambitions of promotion, yet we sit 1 goal difference above them.

My issue though would be that our whole set-up now has been aimed towards the Ajax/Dutch style of football.. A style of football currently failing. Van Gaal sacked by Man Utd, De Boer sacked by Palace, Koeman sacked by Everton, Keizer sacked by Ajax, and various failings by the Dutch national team in recent years. So sacking Stam would be pointless if we continue along this path..

The main problem for staam is that he overachieved a lot last year so it automatically puts a lot more pressure on him. However I believe he is probably underachieving this season

The continental style of head coach, someone else recruiting the players seems to be used alot in the championship now. Going by all the sackings lately it clearly aint working

Definitely the right decision for him to go, but a bit saddened he didn't turn it around as we have had some great memories and days under Carlos. Shame it ended the way it did, important we get someone in for the January window so he can start making changes to the playing squad in preparation for next season. Now the seasons over for us we need to set down a way of playing and stick with it, hopefully we'll be stronger next year.

Without doubt the correct decision to get rid, about 12 months too late if you ask me but at least it’s done now. Will always be thankful for that first season but it’s been pretty drab to watch ever since.

Paolo Fonseca appears to be the bookies favourite but I’m not sure we’ve got the pull to take Shaktar’s manager

Would Wednesday fans take a punt on Monk? I imagine he'd want backing in the January window.

Van Gaal sacked by Man Utd, De Boer sacked by Palace, Koeman sacked by Everton, Keizer sacked by Ajax, and various failings by the Dutch national team in recent years. And we're trying to implement this style at a lower level of football which is probably even harder. So sacking Stam would be pointless if we continue along this path..

Would be nice if the new owners actually said something. Don't think anything has been said by them since they took over.

I would take monk personally but don’t think we’ll go for an English manager

I was impressed with Boro on Saturday, played some great stuff with plenty of pace. I though it was an april fool when I seen Monk had been sacked.

I would be ok with it if he got job but not sure about other supporters.

Whilst understanding the Monk sacking I don't get the timing.

Right after an away win, doesn't make sense. Why not just sack him before, not like you're giving him that game to save his job, minds were obviously already made up.

I wouldn't mind Monk at Wednesday, but we'll be going for a continental head coach I expect, someone from Doyen sports. If we got Fonseca I would be over the moon, but considering Donetsk wouldn't let Everton talk to him and the fact they are in the last 16 of the Champions League definitely rules us out. The obvious options are the likes of Dean Smith, Mick McCarthy, Paul Lambert but can't see it.

Fonseca is well backed, the Doyen link and our COO being ex Shakhtar is the reason he's being mentioned tbf.

Every Wednesday fan that has mentioned it has said its highly unlikely fact is he’s favourite with the bookies whether we believe it or not so why would it not get mentioned?

Nixon tweeted this morning that we’re trying hard for Fonseca and having been talking for about a week now if you believe anything he says. Still seems highly unlikely to me

See if pep fancies the job. In all seriousness this shakhtar bloke would maybe consider a job in England but a team who's 15th in the championship and have all but fully spent up unless they break the ffp rules ' which plenty of teams do anyway '. He'd have to be fucking insane or get offered about 80k a week as I'd guess he will be on 40k plus easily now.

Not having to live in Ukraine may appeal.

One of the best places I've ever been too Kiev. Can't comment on anywhere else, where do donetsk play at the minute anyway? Not back in donetsk I don't think yet are they?

I imagine we’d have to be paying serious money to get him. Not sure where you get the FFP thing from? Last season they were saying we were close but then we spunked £4million on Van Aken, I don’t think we’re close to be honest I think Carlos was just saying that to try and drive prices down. Club have already said there will be money available in January.

Biggest thing in all this for me is that Shaktar have a champions league round of 16 game in a few weeks, it’s the furthest they’ve ever got in the competition, I just can’t see him leaving before that.

Oh right maybe I'm wrong on the ffp part I thought the Rhodes money was part of this season too anyway just break the rules plenty of others do and don't get punished.

Monk gets sacked for his style of football and they appoint Tony pulis, they must be the only club who enjoy watching dreadful, boring shite style of football. However I fancy him to get them promoted but I fancied monk too tbf

They were in for him at the end of our first season so not too much of a surprise, may even be the reason he agreed to leave Wednesday. Think the Swansea set up is similar to ours where Doyen have a big involvement, Carlos is one of their clients.
