Nothing wrong with our strikers (well with the possible exception of Leighton Mcintosh) as players. It's our midfield and general play that is the problem.

I agree about Quigley. He's a good player, the only problem with him is that he's made out of glass. He was good when he was with us. Holroyd too (his issue is he's weak as water)
Quigley will play about half the games per season on average for his 3 year spell at Barrow. It was a ludicrous deal.

Effiong's scored with 2 penalties & missed 2 penalties, but put in a rebound for 1
he is a handful but has little composure in front of goal. if he did he'd be in the FL.

Very true from what I saw yesterday, he's a bruiser, bullies centre backs, great in the air, but utterly hopeless with the ball at his feet.

Good old Gime Toure has dried up too I notice, played his World Cup Final against us and nothing since. Can't see him getting the Ballon d'Or now I'll be honest.

Yet.

It’s the Gimi Toure cycle. Starts off rather well, then becomes that striker who is OK, just in a bad run and then finally a lazy argumentative git.

Gime’s never been the same since he got Quigley’d. Upstaged with a brace!

I'm putting an end to this Gime propaganda right here!

If we're using Jared's timeline he is still very much in the starting off well category, he had one hoofed off the line yesterday, jobbed in the box when he was about to shoot and had a mazy run that hit the inside of the post, he's creating chances and still looking excellent.

Now please, go back to picking on errr Shamir Mullings!

Anyone had a worse forward pairing at National level than Joe Quigley & Shamir Mullings??

We had Effiong at Barrow when we got him from Biggleswade, he was very raw then and I think only got one goal (v Tranmere), he reminds me of Michael Rankin who we had at the same stage of his career and he went on to have a spell in the EFL despite fans being divided over his ability;- Effiong will probably do the same in a year or 2.

12/08/2014 Altrincham vs Lincoln City
22/11/2014 Wrexham vs ALtrincham

Altrincham's front two for both games were Steven Gillespie and Kyle Perry.

We've had worse since, but sadly not at National level

Ah, Kyle Perry.

Signed by us in the aftermath of the most embarrassing defeat in our history, at Chasetown in the FA Cup. We swooped for him and a defender called Chris Slater. Amazingly it turned out that they weren't actually very good and had just played out of their skins in that one-off cup match. Who'd have thought?

Joe Quigley (hurrah!), Christian Lee, Delroy Facey, Bas Savage, Leroy Griffiths, Paul Shields, Rene Howe, Jacob Erskine, James Pinnock, Mark McCammon, Lee Matthews.

Probably less than a dozen goals between that selection of absolute shod.

Barnet once lined up with a front 3 of Jon Nurse, Harry Crawford and Marciano Mengerink. Between them 10 goals in 122 games.

I saw him play for Slough awhile back and he looked pretty terrible even by National South standards. Bizarre to think he scored 15-16 league goals in a season for Dover not that long ago.

The last time we were relegated, Vinny Mukendi and Obi Anourou appeared upfront for us together at one point. Towards the end of the season we also had a 20+ stone Lee McEvilly. What a season.

McEvilly did get our equaliser in the 2010 FA Trophy final though and was pretty weighty then too

When playing for us, the 'keeper knocked a goal kick pretty much to the other 18 yard box and Big Del, instead of flicking the ball on, managed to head it back past the halfway line and set up and opposition attack.

Now Kyle's Altrincham days are safely distant, I find my memories of him taking on a somewhat rosy tint.

I think Christian Lee might have been an unmemorable loan player for us in the distant past. Rene Howe, however, was rather useful in his loan spell with us - 9 goals in half a season ending in the playoff defeat against Stockport at Wembley.

Evil was another one who did well for us. We signed him three times (although the third might have been one too many).

Calvin Andrew is now in his sixth season with us....

Fond memories of Evil. I seem to remember in his later spells he became a bit of a supersub we could bring on to cause problems for the oppo's defence.

If we're on a Dale link then George Donnelly needs a mention. The player that Stockport County fans voted to sign instead of Jamie Vardy. I seem to remember he ran around a lot - giving the impression of being busy - but hardly ever touched the ball as he'd be in pretty useless positions.
When I checked his stats before this post I was surprised he was marginally more prolific than Calvin.

My highlights of Georgie D include.

The tweets calling Bury dogshit when beating them at half time in the JPT only to then lose the game.
Scoring the goal that put us top of the league on the last day of the 13/14 season (for about 10 minutes).
Somehow swindling Tranmere out of a transfer fee for him to score a grand total of 0 for them.

I think the vast majority of those goals were penalties.

Jacob Erskine was at Maidenhead about 4 years ago. Was so bad as a striker he ended up playing centre back.
Also made Nathan Ashmore look like Weight Watcher of the year.

Donnelly must be the worst player we have ever paid money for, at least until a tribunal swindled us out of £25k for James Alabi. We spent our only transfer fee of the 2014-15 season on him, so it is no surprise we finished 92nd in the league.

Yes, Shamir Mullings and Harry Panayiotou. Ask Chesterfield fans about their performances yesterday.

Yesterday, Shamir Mullings and Mo Bettemer. Mullings missed his customary two sitters whilst Bettemer missed an open goal from a yard out. If those two plus Harry Pan score 10 goals between them all season I’ll buy the whole forum a pint.
