Thank god he's gone.

Reckon Saturday would have been a game of 'who can put out the most defenders'.

Honestly, I'd bring back GC until the end of the season. I'm that desperate.

Considering what GC achieved initially I don’t think that’s a desperate move, I can’t see him going back anyway considering he left due to location!

I'd go with the option to extend, providing they could keep us up.

The higher up the table, the better the contract if/when we resign them.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't offer that type of contract to any manager - just Coughlan, after everything that happened.

If anyone saves this lot from relegation they would have earned it, especially now the transfer window has gone. Not sure about Coughlan though he left us well in the lurch just before a busy Christmas period and Sheffield is still the same distance from Bristol as it was then.

It'll be interesting see which way Northampton go. Obviously promoted with one style of play but it sounds like Curle tried to change it around in January and they're in a halfway house where they'll probably now not be great at either as the squad started to change and evolve.

I'm not sure whether Bristol Rovers have a squad that are underperforming or not but three managers in a season doesn't end well too often (if any!).

Disagree there mate. He tried to play on the deck for 45 minutes against you lot but if anything he got more direct.

Our squad I don’t think is that bad. Our summariser said on Tuesday that no one actually really played badly, they were carrying out their roles well. It’s just the plan that failed.

You have a plan?

Someone needs to tell Sheridan of this.

Ah, fair enough. It sounded like that was the beginning of change but perhaps not!

Haha, it wasn’t a great plan. ‘Wherever you are on the pitch smash it towards their goal, don’t even bother looking up’

As an aside. Are you happy with just Tisdale and his people going? Widdrington seems to have escaped but as Director of Football must have been involved in appointing the managers and recruiting the players.

I can't describe how bad the last few games of Curle were...I really can't.

I think everyone (owner, board members, recruitment and last 2 managers) shares an element of blame for the current position.

In the summer we signed a bizarre series of left back/left wing backs which nobody could understand.
We went into this season under Garner with 3 strikers; 2 had never played league football, and Hanlan who couldn't finish a packet of crisps.

Tisdale brought in a keeper (as our No1 is injured) and a RB (Williams) from MK Dons...and that was it. He told us the club couldnt get anyone in who he needed but Id be pretty fookin amazed if no available players couldnt displace anyone from this team.

Many gasheads say Tisdale hasn't had his own team and wasnt given long enough, but he knew the score when he joined and results havent been good enough, in fact worse than Garners.

Tisdale went into that game vs your lot with our top 2 goalscorers on the bench, criminal when you are amongst the lowest league scorers. Then to say the performance was fabulous and deflecting the blame in the post-match interview topped it off for me, and Wael too it seems.

TBF, when you came to Lincoln you looked OK and we were a bit suprised, because you'd been truly crap at yours.

I think with the exception of that one away game at yours, the games were very similar to how we played in the home fixture.

Matt Gray from Sutton has been linked, don't know anything about him though to be able to apply judgement to it.

Here we go. We all know Sheridan is a useless bully. All our dec3nt players have left because of him - DJ, Jonny Smith, Matt Smith, Freeman lasted 2 weeks before legging it to Swansea.

Now Travers, our loan keeper from Bournemouth, has been recalled as #Sheridan abused him during the game at Portsmouth - along with just about every other player as well. His touch line antics were disgusting - all the more audible with no crowd noise. Constant swearing and haranguing of players constantly throughout the match.

I fucking give up.

Every time you think the season can't get any more clown like something else crops up. Our own stupid fault. You wouldn't expect it from a non-league outfit. All conjecture but apparently Travers asked to go back.

Chuck in Grant being Ostracised and Sheridan has been responsible for the departure of our 6 best players .

Can only hope for a PP on Saturday although I’d prefer the players refused to play unless Sheridan goes and give Rovers the points.

You're both right.

Tbf though, his stock has completely gone now though, if he could do a 3 month job and show that Mansfield was a blip - he'd put himself back on the market as a decent manager and we'd move on to other managers and give them a whole summer.

This manager malarky is easy, not sure how they get it so wrong really..

So, what does this mean for you in terms of who plays in goal? Do you get an emergency loan in (can you?)? Or does a kid have to play for the rest of the season?

Please don't sack Sheridan, he's doing a superb job!!!

We can get an emergency keeper for 7 days (which can be rolled on and on) and apparently we are signing a keeper from Bristol City. Hopefully by midday so he can play tomorrow.

Sheridan is statistically our worst ever manager by losses. He's as useful as dogshit sandwiches at a kids party.

All joking aside, a manager shouldn’t be allowed to behave like he does - berating and belittling players during play. I’m honestly surprised somebody hasn’t decked him. If fans were in attendance he would have been gone ages ago. Mind you, if fans were in attendance he wouldn’t have been here in the first place.

Just goes to show how easily a disinterested owner and a toxic manager can really fuck a club up. It’s amazing we’re not cut adrift, tbh.

Gray is still relatively raw (due to COVID he’s not had a full season in senior management). It took a while for him to get going here, and he’s on to a good thing.

He is a brave manager, however I hope he sees the sense of staying at a club pushing for promotion rather than one fighting against relegation (no offence).

And tbf it’s not like anyone ignored you?

Weird player, bags of skill. I wouldn’t even say his finishing is that bad, he just doesn’t shoot enough! Sure he misses some simple chances, but what player doesn’t? He’s also scored some fantastic goals too tbf.

I’m sure you’ve all been saying this for years, but if someone can get him really playing then he will go far. Considering he’s played as a lone striker with not supply, I’d say he’s done pretty well tbf

Very fair points Gassy and I am one of those that was saying that with a good coach he could be a serious player.
Having seen a fair bit of him I am now not sure that he will ever really be an out and out striker though.
Can you really teach that natural goalscoring knack and that composure in front of goal?
The way he left us also left a bit of a sour taste too

You’re probably right tbf. It’s not often players suddenly learn how to finish.

We did teach it to Matty Taylor tbf, was released from FGR in NL and even at the beginning for - fuck me his finishing was appalling. Once Marcus Stewart really got him going though the rest was history.

Totally get you on the way he left, I’d have been livid.

Taylor scored 6 in 7 for us on loan from FGR before Scott at Aldershot got his mate from FGR to recall him. Nothing wrong with his finishing.

Then he never scored for FGR and was released. There was plenty wrong with his finishing, I’d suggest that I probably have seen more of Taylor to say. Besides, this was all at NL level, his finishing had to improve massively to cut it in the EFL, which it did.

Northampton away today.
I am quietly confident of a draw or a win here, but sacking the manager in midweek may change things for the cobblers.
Lose and we are screwed.
