That was a strong episode to kick the second half off with. Although I was kind of hoping they'd kill a couple more people off. If Glenn had died that'd have been the best episode ever.

I suppose what will follow now is trouble with that Negan's group. I must say I wish they would move away from this model of "Rick's group meets another group and they fight each other >> Rick's group meets another group and they fight each other >> Rick's group meets another group and they fight each other". It's become too repetative. They should look for a fresher approach.

Made up for the rubbish mid season finale and was a great starter, question is have they pushed all the buttons too quick and now we'll have 5 very dull episodes?

Should have been the season finale really! Decent episode.

I kind of wanted the bad guy to kill Abraham and Sasha at the start, despite liking Abraham, Would just have been nice for two of the main (kind of) characters to be offed unexpectedly for once. Was also a bit upset he died so quickly as he was a charismatic bad guy.

Oh, and it's getting silly with Glenn now. Come on! How much plot armour can you have?

You probably mean 7, as there are 7 left. It kind of happened in the first half of this season. The opening episode was great then, too, but it was probably the best episode of the first 8. Let's see. I hope they have an interesting angle to this Negan's group. I felt the Terminus thing was rushed through, the "hospital people" were neither here or there, the Alexandrians are really boring and those Wolves were pretty much just one attack, it seems. The show hasn't had an interesting adversary group since the Governor and Woodbury.

I totally agree. The last meaningful character they've killed off was Beth (I'm not counting Tyreese) and that feels a long time ago. One of the great things about this show at least used to be that you could never know who got killed. But now, watching Daryl, Sasha and Abraham being confronted by member's of Negan's group, you pretty much knew they weren't going to die. I thought Glenn died in that episode and I thought it was brilliant, how they killed him off just like that. Turned out to be the cheapest trick you could pull. I hate seeing Glenn now, I just wish he was dead.

Anyway, they should definitely kill a major character off soon. Bring back the feeling that anything can happen. It's gotten to a point where you're no longer thrilled to see lead characters in dangerous situations.

Leads me to ask this question: Who do people think is going to die this season? Seeing someone like Morgan die wouldn't surprise me one bit. Abraham's my favorite, but he might go. Sasha wouldn't be a big surprise, either. Killing off Daryl, Michonne or Carol could be amazing.

There's also a lack of characters like Merle and Andrea, characters you root for at times but aren't wholly onside with.
There's also not enough characters to feel attached to that they can/will kill off. After his turnaround Gabriel has got to be going soon, but he's still not done enough to warrant giving a shit about.

The best way to resolve the issue of Glenns continued survival against all odds is simple. Keep having him survive over and over, then kill Maggie. There's your dramatic death.

That's true as well that the average quality of characters has dropped. Andrea, Hershel, Dale and especially Merle were intriguing characters. Characters like Maggie, Sasha, Rosita, Tara and Gabriel are between really bad or just totally indifferent. Out of these also-starring characters I like Abraham and Eugene. Morgan looked promising before he took his "all life is precious" philosophy to a level that just wasn't believable. I wish they did more with Abraham, he's got potential.

I really hope they kill Maggie. She's probably the worst written character and the acting's below-par, too. I just wonder is the fact she's pregnant going to increase or decrease her chances of getting killed... If she gets a few months forward, do they want to show a pregnant woman getting brutally killed? On the other hand I'm thinking do they want another baby in the show. Already Judith feels a bit unnecessary and a drag. And I really doubt they're going to show any small babies getting eaten or shot, so maybe they'll off Maggie before it gets that far and everyone's got their own baby-shield.

Kill off Maggie and use that to make Glenn a darker character instead of the ever-positive he is now. Or even better, kill off both. And kill off a few of the indifferent ones and try to replace them with something more interesting.

Can I ask why?

It's becoming increasingly boringly repetitive. Main characters are seemingly indestructible while new characters are getting killed off quicker than ever. I know they're pretty much sticking to the comics, so fair enough, but it's becoming tedious. It's a zombie series, so I'm not gonna stop watching it, but the direction this is taking I'm more looking forward to Fear the Walking Dead right now.

It was good how Darryl managed to make no noise whatsoever in dealing with the guy at the back of the truck. Abraham firing at will in the general direction of Glenn, luckily not one of the many, many bullets went anywhere near him and he emerged unscathed once again. At least they killed a few kids off though. Coral should be fine too after only being shot through the head, nowhere near enough to kill a main character off.

He'll come round as all hard and distrusting of the world and shit and he'll be like the governor with an eye patch and they'll hit you over the head with the parallels with the subtlety of a bag of hammers.

Yeah, well, lazy writing and/or direction isn't anything new for this show. In fact, it's the rule. Annoying, still. Like, when they left the house at the beginning of the episode it was day time, no hint of dusk about to fall. Then a couple shots forward it was like the middle of the night and they were still tip-toeing through Alexandria. I was wondering was it an ill-timed lunch break in the middle of filming or how come it suddenly got all dark... Maybe they forgot where the armory was and just went in circles for a couple of hours. In the end Rick tried to save his face by declaring they can't make it to the armory, lulz.

I'm also trying hard to think that the bullet more like scratched Coral instead of going into his skull. The nurse seemed to pretty much just put stitches on him, lol, so I rather think to myself that the bullet just scratched him and took out his eye and he is illogically unconscious, rather than that he got shot in the head, avoided brain damage and is now illogically surviving coz a nurse stitched him up in like two minutes.

I sometimes wonder would they be better off if they stopped basing the TV series on the comics. Like I said above, one of my main irritations about this show is its plentiful poorly or lazily written parts, both large and small. There are way too many things happening regularly that you just can't find believable. Sometimes I wonder is it because in comics you can probably get away with that easier, but on TV it looks bad. I don't read the comics, so don't really know how precisely they follow them, but sometimes I wonder should they hire more & better writers themselves and abandon the comics. This is also a big reason why I'm, too, looking forward to Fear the Walking Dead continuing, because that isn't based on any comics. I'm kinda hopeful they'll make the spin-off more credible than the original show.

Sorry for a posting spree, but just one more example of such lazy writing and direction that you don't know whether to laugh or cry:

Why did the girl even need to climb up there to "help" Maggie? What exactly did she gain from climbing up there except making that wobbly platform even more unstable.

It was good, but by good I mean it had a lot of action, was quite exciting and didn't bore me to death with tedious plots. The writing on the whole is lazy as fuck and I only watch this now in the hope that everybody eventually dies other than Carol and Darryl.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I enjoyed it, but they do have a habit of throwing half a series worth of shit into one episode. Carl was a genuine shock, and ok Glenn is leading a bit of a charmed life, but they had been building up to them 'getting the band back together' all episode, so it wasn't quite 'deus ex machina'.

Enjoyed episode 10.

Can't say I'm too bothered about the Richonne storyline or Coral's miraculous recovery from a point blank gunshot to the fucking head but a good introduction of a possibly interesting antagonist though and some much needed character development for one of the Alexandria original lot in Spencer.

Good episode, I liked it.

I wish they showed more supply run & looking for people action, not only when they need it to introduce a new character. You could write all sorts of small stuff on supply runs and random encounters with other people, even if they appear just for one episode or even just one scene. It would also help to create and keep up the 'zombie apocalypse world' atmosphere.

Anyway, that new character could turn out to be interesting, looking forward to seeing what happens with him. (Cant help but feel that ultimately he will turn against the group, though)

The thing with Deanna was cool.

Rick and Michonne getting it on, I felt it's been coming for some time. Here I can't help but feel that that's Michonne's death confirmed, Rick's women have a habit of dying x)

I can't figure out whether TWD is the show I love to hate or hate to love. So lazy, so frustrating, so typical, so eyerolly... and yet I enjoy watching it.

Confused how that happened, she was about to be turned into mince meat when we last saw her.

Yeah, that's true. I suppose she might have turned quickly and the walkers didn't eat her much. Anyway, this show has had a thousand less credible moments than Deanna the zombie making it out of Alexandria and mostly unscathed that to a minor thing like this I'm pretty numb by now.

In the comics, Negan kills Glenn with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, issue 100. Possible the same could happen in the show
