That winds me up to no end, especially when they're going at 60-65 too.

On the subject of manners on the road, Lutonian taxi drivers are normally terrible at acknowledging another drivers giving way and other kind gestures however one did flash their hazards last night after I slowed down to let them pull out.

After four years of cycling around NW Leeds giving priority to drivers 99% of the time I didn't receive a single little finger raised in response.

Gets.

Yeah thats infuriating, sometimes I'll even give them the finger if they don't respond when you have given them priority. Some other cities and towns I'll notice some people won't respond, though the majority of people here in my hometown I've seen, do acknowledge your courtesy.

On a similar note, the other month I was going up my street to park - and there is no room for two cars to drive in opposite ends in the street - and I gave a woman driver and her partner (driving a big Audi Q5) priority by letting her past me to park up whilst I turned at the other end. As I came back down to park there was hardly any spaces but she had taken up two spaces near me, so I reversed in most of the way, and politely waved to her to reverse back a bit to give me a tad more space to then park up; you want to have seen the look of disdane both gave me. I reversed fully in and told them loudly of how I'd gave them room and was only after a small courtesy in return and stared them down as I made my way to my flat. Absolutely enraging.

Happen cyclists don't get thanks, but I try to communicate when out riding and do get responses elsewhere for courtesy as I would while driving. I appreciate there's me, not hopping red lights, not jumping onto pavements, cycling over to the right, weaving around cars, going out without lights after dark, but it's obvious when a cyclist is a bellend and when a cyclist is actually cooperating as a road user. I don't try and get back at those who doing raise a finger or the like but if they cut me up or take up the cycling lane they're having it.

Fucking hate cyclists. Not really people who use it to commute a mile or two to work but people who do it for fun. Worst for them is down near University Boulevard in Nottingham, absolutely rife with cycle paths and cycle lanes that were put there at significant cost apparently, yet they're always on the fucking road. Fuck 'em. You should be allowed to knock them off if they're on the road when there's a cycle path.

Driving out of Uni last year I nearly wiped out some international student off his bike too because he veered off the cycle lane to cut across a roundabout instead of going round and waiting to cross, as that would've added 15 seconds to his journey. Told him to fuck off and get a haircut cos I'm a massive wuss but if I wasn't I'd have got out and showed him what for.

I never cycle. It's too dangerous on the roads for that in my view and that's mainly because car drivers don't know the Highway Code. The way car drivers treat cyclists is nuts. A lot of people turn into bell-ends when they get behind the wheel of a car.

Some cyclists really don't help themselves, varying from not wearing high-vis jackets in the evening, having no lights on their bike in the evening or cycling in the middle of the road. I have no problem with cyclists and I've not had an altercation with one either but those 3 things annoy me.

I go out running in the evenings and often I'm dressed with more hi-vis gear than cyclists. I may look like a total twat when I'm out and about, but at least the drivers can see me.

I don't mind cyclists cycling in the middle of the road. It's generally a self-preservation tactic as on certain stretches of road car drivers attempt to overtake when it's not safe to do so.

On a bend, fine - absolutely no problem with that. However from time to time (thankfully not that often) when I'm driving on the A6 from Luton towards Streatley, it's 3-4 miles, dead straight and wide enough so that if these cyclists are nearer to the pavement then drivers can safely overtake them.

In general I aim not to die when out cycling, or give others discomfort while still going at good speed myself and in that time I've faced countless horrible drivers, from not indicating where it's really necessary to having eggs and water lobbed at me from passing windows, even a car pursuing me (unprovoked) to try and knock me off, turning around before attempting it again, and again. But I've also seen utter nobber cyclists on the road. The uncomfortable truth is that I notice a higher proportion of cyclists really mess things up but while I'm here I'll read off a few things drivers try to pick cyclists up on that are in fact kosher:
Biking off the cycle lane (OK'd by the Highway Code, considering cars are allowed to park/ride over cycle paths where necessary and considering hazards on cycle lanes like drains and flooding)
Cycling two abreast (over two is prohibited in the HC except for commissioned races I guess)
Cycling a distance from the kerb or taking the lane (safety tactic, I've been run into by SMIDSY drivers who came straight out from side roads, many drivers will not give you room when they overtake)

There's a cycle lane near where I work in Windsor and cyclists rarely use it. It used to annoy me as it'd hold me up on my way to work. Then one day I ran on it and realised it was full of potholes. It wasn't even nice to run on, never mind cycle.

Most British cycle lanes are horribly maintained. Many of ones on the edge of the road are full of road debris, so impossible to ride in.

I'm not too bad normally and I don't get road rage unlike a friend of mine who even after 20 years driving still gets livid at the least little thing. I'm usually quite calm and I enjoy driving, but that night in particular just infuriated me after I saw the woman's look when I asked a small favour in return for my courtesy.
