I used to have Lovely Day by Bill Withers as my alarm, and I still love that song.

But then it was summer and I was living in Spain, had it set for 10am, and five days out of seven would roll out my bed and onto the balcony to catch some morning rays while eating melon and reading.

Anyone who's miserable living in England and has the means to try life abroad really should.

Are you still in Barcelona?

As Joe. will agree - Ohrid, Skopje and Macedonia are the best places on earth. One of our friends (and to an extent, me) are serious when we say, one day we will live in Ohrid. Enjoy, spectacular place. Amazing people. Cheap alcohol.

I'm best man at a wedding in Ohrid, Macedonia in June. That involves an 8 hour flight to Skopje followed immediately by a 2 1/2 hour drive. This will be the day before the wedding and I'll likely be travelling alone.

Ohrid is a beautiful place. Like VDG, I would retire there if I had half a chance.

Wow I'm showing my ignorance here but I had no idea Macedonia was so far away! When we went to Dubrovnik, Croatia I think it was about 3 and a half hour flight and I had it in mind that Madedonia wasn't a million miles from Croatia.

EDIT - I know what I'm doing, I'm getting bloody confused with Montenegro! :ffs:

Did you look at direct flights to Ohrid? We're looking and I'm not sure if alll the flights aren't released for this year yet but there doesn't seem to be any, which is a bit of a pain!

It looks stunning and it's next on our list on places to holiday to. It will probably this summers trip. Is a week pllenty there?

I would imagine that would be good material for a best man's speech. Even if you make up a story before you go.

Haha, we're off to Montenegro in March funnily enough!

How we ended up there is a bit weird. There's 7 of us that travel all over together now, but it started because a mutual friend of ours was trying to organise a big trip, initially I think we were going to the Ukraine (Am I right here Joe?), but then we found an £11 flight to Ohrid randomly and everyone booked up. Thankfully everything fell into place so we did 3 countries, 4 cities and 4 games of football in 8 days. Flights are seasonal, they're already released as I'm looking to go back myself - Wizzair from Luton....I might end our summer trip there or Albania - At the moment we only have the Poland - Georgia - Armenia leg booked.

A week in Ohrid may be too much, everything is shut on a Monday mind, but if you're in Macedonia you need to check out Skopje. Crazy place, we had a night train to Belgrade and Joe and I were legless after 4 of us thought it would be a good idea to sit in a microbrewery drink 2l beers for £1.20 all afternoon...! Nightlife out there, especially Ohrid, is surprisingly good. Even at 2am on a Sunday people were out and about. Bitola and Tetovo look really good as well.

Here are my photo's of the trip if you want to see more - https://www.flickr.com/photos/98171911@N05/albums/72157658654473641

As VDF says there is a direct flight available from Luton. The problem is I live in Blackpool, so it'd take longer to go direct than indirect. I'd also much prefer a long car journey through Macedonia than here.

Hopefully the taxi breaks down and my only option is a goat pulling a carriage, that gets me there dramatically at the last minute.

Correct. Was randomly speaking to Callum one day and he mentioned a trip. Ukraine was the initial suggestion, but I guess it just went from there! Pure luck that the Belgrade Derby fell on that weekend though!! And then Osijek being moved to Sunday and randomly researching Friday night matches in that ? Bar. Hope we get lucky with Poland this summer!

You booked Poland, Georgia and Armenia yet? Obviously Liam has booked me up from Warsaw to Kutaisi, which is good. I need to start thinking about the others sooner or later! You're not doing Istanbul are you?

Montenegro is February! Also, I forgot about Sarajevo in April! Probably need to be looking at that a bit more in depth soon... I quite fancy Mostar and Dubrovnik too.

Nice one thanks buddy, the place looks amazing going by the pics! The water of Lake Ohtrid is unbelievably clear. Maybe a few days there and a few days in Skopje is the way to go.

That's my problem too. Ideally I always like to fly from East Mids / Manchester, and they seem to require stops, which noone reallly likes doing! Good luck with the speech by the way mate

We did two nights in both I think. Not sure I could do a week in either of them mind. Arriving in Ohrid on the Sunday to be told nowhere would be open was a downer until we ventured out and was still out early hours of the morning. Lake Ohrid is something else.

When the stalk (?) of a feather pokes through the pillow when you're trying to sleep. I spent 10 minutes plucking my pillow last night. The maid is going to think I killed a chicken given the number of feathers in my room.

My girlfriend converted us to feathers last year. It's a weird contrast, when you jump in it's constant jabbing until a sweet spot is found. On the flip side, it's the first conditions I've ever slept through an alarm and I find it genuinely difficult to get up in the morning. My girlfriend slept on the couch one night because she had to get up early the next day and the bed was too risky. Now that's comfort!

Choking it perhaps?

The fact that I've gone clean shaven for the first time in over a year and I still look like a fucking 15 year old girl beneath the beard!

The use of the terms "on point', "on fleek", and "game" used as a noun.

For example, "Your shoe game is on point".

I strongly advocate the death penalty for these offences. No fucking exceptions.
