Exactly. Lost a bit of respect for some of the Tranmere lot tbh. Total lack of class. Can't handle a loss it seems.
Trust me, the feeling is more than mutual. I've never seen our fans as a group loathe a team as much as FGR. We can handle a loss, we can handle being outplayed... we're used to that, we just don't like cheats.

You seem genuinely surprised that your incessant classless gamesmanship upset a partisan crowd. Who'd have thunk it?

Off the pitch... I can't remember the last team to smash up the seats in the away end.

Playoffs should be fun.

Possibly when passions have cooled Tranmere fans will acknowledge that at this time of season points are more important than performance.
FGR do play some of the most attractive football in EFL2.

As regards the broken seats, I know the club and almost all of the travelling fans will be disappointed in this wanton vandalism. I hope Tranmere have CCTV and can identify the culprit and send him the repair bill.

BTW Despite what some from Birkenhead have written, I enjoy my visits to Prenton Park. I've always been treated with great respect and friendliness. Before the game one Tranmere fan recognised me from Wembley and we had a lovely conversation as I did with a couple of stewards who also remembered me from previous visits.
I agree that the teams could meet again in a few weeks time. And stats show how competively close we are to each other. Still all to play for.

I've met a few of your fans over the years, and without exception they've been really nice people. I guess I am just bitter about yesterday, it'll pass

If that really was our master plan, I’d have serious worries. Give the ball to their best player and expect Ollie Banks the central midfielder on our right to snuff everything out. What were Caprice and Morris meant to be doing while all this was going on?
Yes, I doubt that was a deliberate tactic. Most of their best attacks came through him.

In all of our four defeats to Forest Green we have failed to score the opening goal. In the matches at Prenton Park, that has allowed FGR to frustrate us and play on the counter attack.

It would be interesting to see what happens if we score first as, despite all the bravado above, I think the two sides are pretty evenly matched. And yes, Forest Green do play some decent football.

Frustrations understandable, especially at this stage of the season if you have everything to play for.

it's been a frustrating season for us in home games I think we won 10 at home last season which largely kept us up, when we were fighting a relegation battle all season. This season we've won only 7 at home. So many times we've got caught our and pegged back. That has been very frustrating. Then again it must have been a pleasure for our away supporters, when you have been treated to so many wins or draws. We could still finish top of the away table.

FGRs highlights.

7m 18. Ref seems to blow as Norwood flicks it over defender and we score 1sec later.

Having seen the highlights, the Tranmere Rovers 'goal' was a situation where you'd like the referee to come out and explain his thinking. The first incident and from where the free-kick was taken is clearly a foul, but he plays advantage at that point. The second coming together immediately after, I'm unsure the Forest Green defender could have done much to get out of the way of Norwood, so guess that Mr Whitestone felt that any advantage ended at that point and blew up. Arguably, he should have waited to see what happened, but nowhere near the mistake of allowing the Milton Keynes goal after a blatant push on Ellis the previous game.

I'm assuming the incident around 9m 09 is the Forest Green 'penalty'? It looks suspicious but the camera angle isn't ideal and the referee's view is blocked by players and the far side AR who might have had a better view didn't signal.

Is this game going to be longest match thread ever?

Think folk just need to draw a line under this one and start another one for the play off game.

No chance, sales of quorn and tofu in Birkenhead have already dropped to record lows in the two days since the game. They weren't exactly high to begin with, it's Birkenhead, but we're in for the long haul.

Play Off!?
Both teams are hoping to gain automatic promotion.
And yes it is still mathematically possible.

But there has been a positive to having a long thread in that has allowed both set of fans to vent. There was a lot of good feeling towards Tranmere by genuine FGR supporters after the Wembley final and this game ain't going to spoil it.

Tbf quite a few Tranmere fans are alright, but the ones who spat at McGinley, abused our fans outside the stadium, waited to abuse our players getting on the coach and then are acting like utter bellends on social media are an utter disgrace.

Nothing against most of the lads on here though or the lads we had a drink with pre match.

...conveniently ignoring the FGR fans who also disgraced themselves on Friday. All clubs have bellends, and as a proportion of the crowd, I'd wager that you had just as many as we did on Friday.

Pablo,
Had a chance today to talk to a lot of the FGR fans at a game today. We all were watching a local Easter Sunday game at Brimscombe.
I asked them what happened to the seats.
They told me that it was a pure accident after FGR scored.
The row of supporters moved forward in unison to celebrate but unfortunately the row of seats in front had a holding bolt missing and collapsed.
There was nothing intentional or planned but just an unfortunate accident.
The scene was photographed by a press photographer who will probably be able to confirm this actually happened.
Could I ask you to pass this info on to your own club message board.
Many thanks
Stroudie

I'll take this with a pinch of salt if you don't mind. The seats weren't just bent forwards, the folding part had been broken off on a few as well. Unless they coincidentally failed in multiple places at the same time, I just can't picture how this could happen in an accident. Sorry to be a sceptic, and apologies if I'm wrong.

I hope there is an official explanation. That would resolve the issue one way or other.
But I know the guys I spoke to are honest so I believe them.

On the advantage I thought their player committed a foul during it which is why it got pulled back to the first one. Difficult one for refs tbf.

Pablo,
I had a good nights sleep and woke up refreshed.
Gave a bit of thought to your post and will politely ask you in a friendly manner to withdrawn your remarks.

I like the Tranmere supporters and attending matches at Prenton Park even though last time our supporter’s coach was stoned or that this time when I was verbally assaulted in a most aggressive fashion by a Tranmere fan while waiting to get on coach.

Tranmere has thousands of passionate fans and Prenton Park is super place to watch football.
Everything about your club I love.

But you seem to be creating a diversive atmosphere between the two sets of fans when none should exist. No FGR fan disgraced themselves. Yes we were enjoying the occasion because a win keeps FGR in the play-offs. The seats were buckled when our supporters fell on top of them after they collapsed. It was an accident as the Tranmere office will confirm.

I expect that our two clubs could meet again in play-off and here I worry because, despite four straight FGR wins, Lady Luck might even itself out and favour Tranmere.
Whatever, I also expect that FGR & Tranmere to remain competitive for many years as League 1 rivals.

Imagine getting emotional over forest green, shows how tinpot Tranmere have become.
Whatever happens Forest Green are still going to be in the FL next season. Stags fans seem to spend a fair bit of time (when not Tranmere baiting) getting worked up about a side who sadly in all probability won’t be.

I was responding emotionally... ChrisFGR has a unique ability to get my blood boiling. I'm sure if we ever met in person, we'd get on. Most of the things I've posted I still stand by, but I maybe should have worded my posts a bit less emotively. Anyway, let's draw a line under it, we both have games today. Enjoy the sun and the last few games of the season.

If I were a WUM, would keep this thread going as long as possible because it seems to be upsetting those who are not supporters of the two teams involved.

There's now clear video evidence of the incident, and it wasn't an accident. Merseyside police have tweeted that they're opening a criminal damage investigation.
