You can't blame Alan. 1FF, and a certain West Ham fan in particular, assured me Pardew is a good manager who just goes through streaks of poor form on occasion.

Ooh loving this. Big balls Michael Edwards does it again, what a man!

Looks like this will be the big window where Klopp fully gets the team and system he wants (4-2-3-1 maybe?). Need to see if they go after a keeper now too.

Fuck this World Cup, when's the proper footy starting again! :D

Fekir is supposed to be your replacement for Coutinho, or so I've read.

Is he suited to being the third, most advanced player in a midfield three?

Paul Joyce says Fekir to Liverpool is pretty much done. £48.4m with £4.4m in add-ons.

Be interesting to see how Liverpool line up next season, Klopp could stick to the 4-3-3 we've been used to or we could see the 4-2-3-1 he used at Dortmund. So many possibilities. Exciting times ahead.

The 4-2-3-1 does look pretty tasty, doesn't it?

Yeah heard he plays attacking mid, or second striker. I haven't seen him play tbh, but supposedly he could play in the middle of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 or at the tip of a midfield diamond or its variants (and second striker). That would allow space for Salah and Mane on the wing still with Firmino as the striker. Dunno what Klopp will do with Keita if he plays that formation though, will he anchor him with Fabinho/Hendo in the two holding positions, but then Keita doesn't really do that.

One things for sure, it will give us great options anyway as that whole midfield and forward line can alternate positions, and we'll have genuine depth - depth for once!!!

Absolutely - I do think you need a bit more work at the other end of the pitch, another centre back and possibly a goalkeeper but if you do manage that I will have you down as title contenders in the coming season.

Fekir is almost definitely coming in to be the most advanced in the middle three long term, but considering we haven't played 4-2-3-1 since Klopp's first season and none of our players are suited to it I doubt we'll be looking into that possibility. Besides, being a 10 in a 4-3-3 isn't all that different from a 4-2-3-1,

It's a very good signing anyway I think because it also gives us cover for the front three as Fekir can play as a nr 9 very well in our system (rather a false nine), and Firmino can play either wing. So he'll be first backup there as well.

Been sent a photo of Fekir in a Liverpool kit. Looks genuine.

That wasn't the photo I got but, either way, let's hope for confirmation by close of play today. Shaping up to be a great window. A quality keeper and central defender to join Van Dijk would make it near perfect.

Apparently Arsenal are after Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria. He's a good player but without wanting to go for cliches, I dunno how well he will adapt to the physicality of the Premier League. He's quite small of frame for a centre midfielder these days.

Fekir on hold thanks to fitness concerns. I suspect it's not going to happen unfortunately.

No chance. Salah is going nowhere this summer, short of utterly ludicrous offers which won't happen until he's proven it over at least two seasons.

It's arguable that is a ridiculous offer given the spaniards probable market value.

But thats's the issue with these kind of offers. Unless the manager would have had interest in the offered player prior, I don't see it being that much different to the money on it's own.

Klopp and the club won't show any interest in such a deal, I'd put a decent amount of money on it.

That's a huge risk on their part. Asensio could very probably become better than Salah and even then Salah has just produced one world class season.

Even then we'd probably turn it down. But it's a madness offer, Asensio is incredible.

Apparently we, after agreeing a price, wanted to renegotiate the deal because of a knee issue, risk aversion and that. Aulas won't have that, no way. Either way we're not going to find anyone close to his level that can play both nr 10 and nr 9 in our system so provided he isn't crocked (in which case I doubt we'd buy him at all) then go for it imo.

Just read elsewhere that his last three injuries are all knee related. Obviously he had the ACL a few years back, but has also missed 10 games in the last two seasons with more minor injuries to it (dunno if its the same knee mind! ). FSG backed out of the Remy deal a few years back due to a potential heart issue, so they have done it before. However I'm thinking this is more financially related too; I've heard he has done his interview in a Liverpool shirt on LFCTV so it sounds like the medical department are happy enough on that front.

Basically expected to sign early next week. A €3m loan fee and the option to buy outright on a permanent deal afterwards.

On the rumour front it was previously said that Real turned down 2 offers of 130mill from unnamed prem clubs. Convenient...

Looks like we decided against it for the price agreed following fitness tests. Shame but it's a lot of money to spend if there were fears he could have an increased chance of injury issues.
