I doubt Watford turned it down, the only reason a player would go to China or the USA for that matter is money. The player obviously has a bit of ambition and doesn't fancy ending his career just yet.
Not sure what was offered for Deeney but it wasn't 30m.

One positive about Koeman leaving is that we won't sign one past it Holland international a season. I noticed that Sneijder was the latest one to be linked with him.

I understood that Watford wouldn't want to sell to another PL team with Deeney, but there's no justification for turning that down for Ighalo. Perhaps it's a warning to clubs not to bother approaching their players, an effective strategy if true, and costly.

You can't force a move, but you can accept a bid and let other clubs know you'd be willing to sell around that price, the point that Hodge made. Now nobody will go near him, a result if that's the intention.
