Sounds like Cowley's doing a Cox.
Not sure how. It was a journalist at Alfreton's end that told us of the bid and Cowley hasn't commented on it, or Bradley. He's never even mentioned his name before.

How much more money are Lincoln going to spend this season? Could be the end if they don't go up.

They are becoming so bankrolled that soon we'll have to start making fun of their crowds like we do with FGR and Eastleigh.

To answer my own question.

Joshua Smith ‏@SmithJournalist 4h4 hours ago
BREAKING: Dan Bradley left out of Alfreton squad to face Boston, following Lincoln City bid.

Joshua Smith ‏@SmithJournalist 4h4 hours ago
I'm reliably told Alfreton skipper Dan Bradley is out with a bug. Still no news on decision regarding Lincoln city bid, however.

Joshua Smith ‏@SmithJournalist 3h3 hours ago
It has been confirmed to me that there is no longer any interest in Dan Bradley from Lincoln City. #Alfreton

It's exactly the same situation as Hearn, where a player was content with his lot and had his head turned, making himself "unavailable".

Nothing at all to do with journalists or anything like that.

The Dan Bradley thing has been going on for weeks, but he's continued to play.

Moneybags Lincoln trying to bully their way up on and off the pitch. Very reminiscent of Crawley under Evans.

Shouldn't be allowed. It ruins football.

It was a mortgage on a building which earns us money, and a manageable bank loan and overdraft facility. Full value was something like £300k. It was nothing that we couldn't afford to repay but the bank decided they wanted it back in one lump sum, which we obviously didn't have otherwise we'd not have had the loan or overdraft facility in the first place!

The end result was basically us upping the monthly repayments and over 'x' amount of years reducing the overdraft facility, which we never used to the limit anyway.

We have had Clive Nates come in as well who's putting around 100k to the playing budget and paying a further 100k a year to pay for DC, NC and the rest of the management team(plus whatever the old team got can be added to that as CM didn't get a wage). Also our crowds jumped around 700 at the mo and finally the crowdfunder raised 52k, it all helps and it appears to have rattled a few cages we've had the nerve to end top of the league after 10 games. We're a work in progress too so its up to the other teams to prove we shouldn't be there isn't it really? I don't think we'll stay there but I'll enjoy while we do.

Lincoln's approach was not welcomed by Dover manager Chris Kinnear, who in an interview with BBC Radio Kent, left listeners in no doubt he was upset over the matter.

"They should mind their own business really," said Kinnear. "They are playing at silly so and so's, but I have no control over what people say, it's up to them."

With Lincoln due to travel to Dover a week on Saturday, the matter could lead to a frosty reception for the Imps contingent.

"He is obviously upset that we would be interested in one of his players," added Cowley. "We have obviously just lost Jonny Margetts to Scunthorpe. I'm not upset with the Scunthorpe manager for taking Jonny, it's part of football. For me, I try not to get emotional."

Ricky Miller loves the imps, and Danny Cowley knows it.

Cowley could certainly learn to shut his mouth every once in a while when it comes to signings. There's nothing wrong with putting a bid in for a player or having a chat with the club's chairman, but you're bound to rub some managers up the wrong way when you publicly go on record to the press saying you want their player. Yeah a journalist asked the question, but he could have easily given a non-answer or fobbed him off.

I find it quite refreshing that he's giving an open and honest answer and not hiding anything from the fans, but each to their own.

There's being open and then there's being disrespectful. Lincoln fans were quick to shoot down Paul Cox for his comments over Rhead but seem more than happy for Cowley to behave the same way.

Do we want Miller to leave? Do we hell. But you cant get romantic never mind angry as many whites fans currently are. It would appear, through the proper channels that Lincoln have now made an official bid which has been turned down, with JP 'allegedly' wanting £100K.
But all that is without knowing what the player himself may wish to do, especially as it's certain with a little patience, that he will fulfill his ambition of getting back into the FL come the Summer and Lincoln can not guarantee meeting that ambition which may make it all a non starter anyway.
Our Chairman's resolve to keep Miller is to be applauded, the fact that he can turn down such money is why we think so much of him, but I can't help wondering what happens come January?

By then Millers market worth would surely have at least halved, maybe more, he can speak to any team NL and FL that may be interested in him, and if terms were agreed would obviously leave for nothing a few months later. In doing so we would lose out on any fee and the possible benefit of sell on clauses, and for a club of our size who don't get into situations like this, it's hardly a wonder that the issue raises temperatures and emotions of the faithful.
Personally I don't blame nor criticise Lincoln/Cowley for their behaviour, they appear to have done everything by the book, but with many of the top teams in the league wanting Millers services, money bags FGR among them, maybe JP, as he should, is just playing his cards well and doing no more than trying to possibly optimise the value of our talisman.

For Dover supporters we just want him to stay and in doing so, just score the winner next Saturday!

One might have thought Danny Cowley was too good AND clever to do a Paul Cox style tapping up.

This was my post from when we found out transfer windows were going to be scrapped and I stand by it. Maybe because it's just not the norm but it feels a bit weird chasing a player after what has traditionally been the transfer deadline.

Not for me.

We're going to end up with the unsettling of players through the season now, not just in August and January. I know it doesn't quite work like that, but transfer windows are a good thing. Keeps things nice and settled for a period of time.

I do a little bit because we should have just come out and said we had made an enquiry before, so that we weren't all guessing what was going on and making it sound as though we had just gone public with everything without anything official going in. If you're going to do something like this, just do it straight down the line so everyone knows where we're at.

I suppose there's a chance that Dover nor ourselves wanted it out, but had it been confirmed earlier, then the last week or so of what's been said wouldn't have been needed.

Just because you've got loads of money doesn't mean every club should just cave in and let you take their best players, and once you've been told where to go to continue to try and unsettle the player and disrespect his club is disgusting. If Lincoln continue to show this lack of class and billy big bollocks attitude they're going to become very unpopular.

We made an approach for Miller in the summer, were told he wasn't for sale and so left it at that. The right way to do business.

Seems Cowley could learn a lesson or two from Cooper on how to stay classy.

While we're on the subject, our budget was revealed as being 600k the other day. As low as it's ever been since we've been down here I'd wager and it definitely shows.

Our budget is quite small too, relatively.

Add a zero to the end of both and you'd be closer then that bullshit estimate.

Not sure we'll quite be that high, but £650k-£700k is probably about right.

You ought to try it below that!

What was is prior to that in the same Trust set-up? The problem is, as soon as things dip on the pitch it's a vicious circle and difficult to get out of.

I always thought it to be in the 750-800k region and was a top 5 budget at this level, explaining why we reached the playoffs 3 years running with those types of figures.

I have it on good authority that Matt Rhead has the largest wage of any player to ever play at this level.
