We have Kai Brown on trial, currently plays in Ipswich under 23’s, very good player.

Had a chat with our GK coach tonight, terms have been agreed with a goalkeeper to come in on loan and we’re hopeful to announce who this week but needs to be signed off by their parent club. If we could get Aston Oxborough or Harry Isted back on loan from Norwich and Luton respectively, I’d be delighted.

Isted to be confirmed on a loan deal until January next week, excellent news.

They are in the top Welsh division now I think. We often loan them youth players if that's any help! That said some good players have come out of that league.
Cheers, sounds like NLN/NLS with the odd good player then!

Dean Rittenberg?

He was with Bangor City before they went belly up and were expelled from the Welsh Prem, and has played in Europe with them

I'm not sure what his stats have been like since he joined Cefn, we normally play them in pre-season and normally beat them comfortably, and they have a few of our ex players too. That said, Cefn have become a bit of a circus recently too, so he may well want out.
Ramirez Howarth. Released from Blackburn and ended up there by the looks of it. Played in every friendly, been the only trailist we've had.

The top team in the WPL are Connah's Quay. Full of ex-Chester players and captained by George Horan (still going strong in his late 30s).

And playing their Europa League Qualifier at the Racecourse on Thursday 17th September - behind closed doors

But with the Deeside link, the number of ex Chester players makes perfect sense. Danby was there too until recently?

Welsh Premier is around step 3 standard.

Definitely 3 is the highest it might be but I would say it's 4 overall bar the top 2 sides.

The keepers in particular are simply horrendous in the WPL, I don't believe they can be as bad in the Northern Prem, Isthmian Prem etc.

The standard has got to be very, very poor - TNS still have Simon Spender playing for them, who was pretty crap for us in his last season NINE years ago. I also remember Sean Hessey, one of our worst-ever signings, leaving us and then playing in Europe for Prestatyn.

Poor old Spends.

That is all true. But then you've got Scott Quigley, and Jason Oswe.....oh.

Rumours going round we’ve got Dom Tear training with us. Whether he’s signed or a trialist remains to be seen. Any good Heed fans?

I thought TNS looked OK when I saw them in the Europa League last week but when you have a uni team finishing in mid table it's hard to conclude the league is up to much. Plus the number of teams in that league who represent unis and companies and the fact that TNS aren't even Welsh just makes the whole thing tinpot AF.

Let's break that down:

The number of teams in that league who represent unis: 1
The number of teams in that league who represent companies: 0
TNS aren't even Welsh: They played in Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain from 1959 to 2007, until somebody did an MK Dons on them. Welsh enough, I think

Nice try, Terry Two-Clubs.

It is tinpot AF though, I agree with you. Just not for those reasons.

The MK Dons bit isnt strictly true. yes, they did move, but as a result of the merger between Llantsantffraid and Oswestry Town, with the owners considering Oswestry the better location.

Also Total Network Solutions as The New Saints were known as, were also based in Oswestry at the time, so it all made sense.

As Jeff Stelling famously says, they were dancing in the streets of Total Network Solutions for that one

Danny Lloyd has left Salford. A return to Stockport I wonder?
No I don't think so.

Lloyd is still really well thought of but the squad looks well set. We've got a squad of 18/19 and we'll be keeping it around that. Other teams will have very big squads, I'm looking at, I don't know, Wrexham and Hartlepool for example. Gannon likes a tight group.

We won't have a big squad. We've got 20 at the moment, that includes 3 keepers and 2 first year pros. I expect us to sign a couple more and that will probably be it for the time being.

He’s on the wind up mate. You could have a squad of 3 and he’d still have Underspending Stockport paying out less.

Adam Chicksen on the bench for us today. Apparently he’s been training with us.

Need a left back, so would make sense - always remember him being a good player at League One level, so would presumably be a decent signing down here.

We look pretty bare today with McCrory, Turner, Lacey missing. Our first eleven is basically there when everyone is fit, but definitely need some more options.

Fraser Preston released by Sheffield Wednesday was a trialist for us today. Gannon's also said after the game we could be after 1-2 more players.

After that, I don't think we'll sign anybody else. I mean it this time.

Anyone know who the 3 lads are in middle who are currently on trial at York?

We had Preston on trial for a bit, but didn't make him an offer, don't know much about him.

One of the worst players I've seen at Bradford. Slow, weak and bottles out of challenges. Absolutely horrendous player, stay well clear.

On a slightly unrelated note, what’s Adam Henley like? Been rumours we’ve been in talks with him but wages supposedly an issue

Looked pretty good on Saturday against lowly opposition. Bottling tackles won't cut cut it here, as a team we've not lacked physical commitment under Ardley and I don't think our dressing room culture would accept it either.

Similar to chicksen in a lot of ways. Our previous manager played him at LB at the start of last season for no reason whatsoever and he looked like a fish out of water. Much better at RB but still had far too many poor games. His defensive positioning and awareness are probably his biggest weaknesses - we conceded a lot of goals down his side last season.
