Looked pretty good on Saturday against lowly opposition. Bottling tackles won't cut cut it here, as a team we've not lacked physical commitment under Ardley and I don't think our dressing room culture would accept it either.
He had a reputation for it here which is saying something considering we had a whole team of bottlers. Can't say what he was like at Bolton but it came of no surprise to anyone that he's been on the scrap heap for six months.

He seems very well liked at Bolton and all of his other former clubs, presumably one who just had a nightmare somewhere despite being good elsewhere, something we have plenty of experience in!

We have had ex loanee James Horsfield training with us in pre-season, suffered a season ending cruciate ligament injury in his third game with us and subsequently released by Scunthorpe in the summer.

We signed him as a right back on loan but he has played midfield in previous seasons, and he indeed started there when at Man City as a youth

Also have an unknown with us who was snapped in the teams pre-season gorge walking activities - its the guy with the orange smudge on his face. I think our media team are intentionally making the quality of pictures poor so we cant be detectives, but any ideas?

Someone reckons he goes by the name AJ, and someone reckons its this chap, he has played for a team that our manager has too, Rushall Olympic, so all the cogs going together

That orange smudge is clearly deliberate - one for the tinpot thread I think!

George Porter is apparently playing for us tonight against Hornchurch.

Wrexham's squad is going to be huge isn't it?

They could field two great elevens.

Good luck to them. I'm not going to be bitter about it.

Simply a case of whether your lot keep pace with us to at least make it interesting.

We currently have a squad of 20, which includes 2 first year pro's and a young third choice keeper who has already been told he will be going out on loan

we definitely need another centre back, as we currently only have 2 first teamers who play there. an unfounded rumour was that it was Kelleher from Macc, but the club havent released any photos or footage from the match yet so jury is out whether it was or not.

I would say the CM was probably Horsfield, as he can play there and at right back so would be another utility. another CM would be a nice to have, although we could happily start the season as we are.

Jeffrey was almost certainly the LW, and he set up a goal.

No idea who the LB was, but he linked up well with Jeffrey apparently, and also no idea who the ST was, although he scored our fourth and sounded a handful. again another forward would be a nice to have, and if wither Jeffrey or the other striker is one of those then its fine

so it wasnt Kelleher as our CB trialist FYI, some young lad released by Stoke

LB was a lad from Burnley, and the ST was Byron Harrison

I think we've already got enough physical non-scoring ex-Solihull strikers* to last us a lifetime.

*I am assuming Harrison has 100% played for Solihoof, so I'm not even looking to confirm it.

Stockport County.
Don't think we have the finances for Lloyd but wherever he ends up, good luck to him. He's well thought of here.

Local press believe we’re close to signing 19 year old centre back Jay Williams following his release from Northampton Town.

He had some time on loan at Kettering last season.

Made 17 first team appearances at Northampton, decent track record for an 18/19 year old.

Don't bite mate. Just leave them to it. They'll tell you ~ this is the year.

We've been down here since 2008. Remember 2008?
  • We had a Labour government
  • Nobody had any opinion about the EU
  • George W Bush was president of the USA
  • You could only just get an iPhone with 3G on it
  • They were still using Space Shuttles
  • Michael Jackson was still alive (as was Ricardo Montalbán)
  • The Bill was still on the telly
  • Woolworths was still open
  • Neco Williams had his 7th birthday party
  • Lewes and Northwich Victoria were still in The Conference
  • ...as were Crawley Town and Burton Albion
  • Forest Green Rovers still played in black and white stripes
  • ...and Salford City still played in orange
  • AFC Halifax Town had only just been formed
  • AFC Chester City weren't even a thing
Of course "this is the year". If we don't say that every season, what's the point? We all know Wrexham aren't getting out of the Vauxhall Conference, EVER. There's more chance of my wife coming back with the kids* than Wrexham actually getting promoted.

Excuse us all, but THIS IS THE YEAR!!!

* Added for LOLZ. My wife hasn't left me, and she hasn't taken the kids. Just in case anybody took that bit seriously. Yes, you're right, that is a bit dark.

In 2008 we were in League One.
