George Carline has left Gloucester City tonight by Mutual Consent..

Looks likely he’s about to follow his old manager to the Proact, especially given that these ends are his neck of the woods.

Don’t know much about the lad, but Gloucester fans seem gutted he’s leaving so have to take that as a positive

Another midfielder is it? I'm glad we're strengthening but we could do to shed some dead wood as well, we must have about a thousand players

You’d presume this spells the end for the likes of Butterfield, Rowley, Smith etc if he signs...

Can’t say I’d be gutted about that to say the least!!

You paid money to sign Milan from us. Surprised he's not in contention.

I remember him from his Solihull days, purely because he has got one hell of a giant throw on him.

Our previous manager signed him as he’d worked with him before... but I’ve got to say from what I’ve seen so far he isn’t good enough.

Granted it’s early days, and he came into a god awful team, so maybe under Rowe he can begin to shine and show the potential that Pembo spoke about when we signed him

I think you're definitely on the money there.
Check their forum..

What you don’t realise is Gloucester appear to have the most sour set of fans on social media (Twitter mainly) that I have ever seen. Their reaction when Rowe left was embarrassing, very small club mentality.

However, their message board appears to consist mainly of decent honest fans so tend to get a better idea on things from there.

Indeed, whatever you do, do not engage with Gloucester fans on twitter. Weird and deluded beyond belief.

The handful I've met in person have been good though.

We're now being heavily linked with Chester's left back Joel Taylor.

Apparently he was left out their match day squad today and their manager has said in a post match interview today that he has 'had his head turned'.

Rumour has it he is a very good player so would definitely welcome this, but can't say i've ever heard of him or seen him play. Chester fans... what should we expect?

Our right wing back Cropper is one of our best players for sure, especially in an attacking sense... so if Taylor can offer us a similar attacking threat on the other side then that would give us very good balance.

He was head and shoulders the most consistent player last season so we offered him a new deal which he signed but then after COVID stopped the season Harrogate came in with an offer which we turned down, frankly he has not been the same player since. He is very at turning defence into attack he has a good engine and a good delivery into the box, and to top it off he also has a good long throw which is handy if you have big lads up front.

Tommy Denton is licking his lips at that last line...

Sounds positive. Exactly the type of signing we should be making, young up and coming players that have done well elsewhere.

Ever since we have come into non league we have always done the opposite and made the mistake of signing players on the way down. Feels like were set for an interesting ride with Rowe at the wheel!

Local reporter Alan Biggs has just tweeted the following:

‘Hearing that Joel Taylor is set to join #Chesterfieldfc from Chester tomorrow. Told the left back will sign initially on loan and complete a permanent move in the summer...24-year-old whose first club was Stoke City & is working his way back up.’

Looks like it’s happening then..

There’s allsorts of rumours about this. Everyone assumed the Community Trust didn’t have a pot to piss in when they bought the club in August, it’s becoming abundantly clear that most fans were wrong, and the vocal ones against the Trust have been shut down.

there is also the possibility they have a money man/men in the wings looking to invest.

Sounds a promising signing if true.

Why would we let a player go for nothing when we turned down a money bid from Harrogate in the summer.

Who’s to say there isn’t a fee attached to the loan deal?

As you say, would make complete 0 business sense from your end to let a contracted player come on loan to us for us to then just sign them on a free transfer in the summer anyway.

Interesting development to this ...

Would presume this is due to reports of other clubs showing interest today!

Sounds like it's Luke Armstrong from Salford that we're about to sign on loan, proven scorer at this level, seemingly couldn't cut it above, should get goals here.

If you read the Chesterfield form fans are making our Management team into the bad guys here but the facts are the player was under contract and was going to be seeing that contract out until someone tells him what he would earn if he came to you, that made his head pop and he’s demanded a move and once that was turned down he has refused to train so he has been left out the squad. You have tried to get him on the cheap but that’s not the way deals should be done if you wanted him you should have tabled a bid even though you are a bigger club doesn’t mean we should just roll over and give our best players away.

Completely understand your frustrations, but unfortunately that is the way the world works isn’t it. If someone offers you much more money to do the same job, 9/10 you’re going to be jumping at the opportunity, and it’s the same in football isn’t it...

In regards us coming in with a low/cheeky bid for Taylor... I guess that’s just business for you. Your club is well within its rights to reject/negotiate it and whilst ever he’s a contracted player with Chester the balls always going to be in your court.

I think the ball was kicked out the court by the player spitting his dummy out

Fee agreed between Chester and an unnamed club. Wonder if we are trying to spring a surprise on Sutton tomorrow.

I think the fact he is OOC in 6 months probably helps whoever it is getting him on the cheap. I don't think we, or anyone, have done anything underhand at all. Sounds like we were front runners, but the longer it drags on the more I think Harrogate or someone else will have come back in

You’ve tapped up a contracted player without agreeing a fee or getting permission, you obviously have been underhand as you’ve been with that player you’ve just signed from Gloucester.
