Why would Stags let their skipper go?

They ain’t exactly strapped for cash so unless Clarke was absolutely adamant he wanted to leave and kicked up a massive fuss about it I can’t see it happening

Unless you go and offer some stupid transfer fee that they can’t turn down for a steady L2 CM

Considering L2's top scorer is now in the NL I don't think the signing of a player from a distinctly average Mansfield would send huge shocks around the footballing world.

Considering one was a free transfer and the other is contracted I think it’s a very different scenario bud

Lovely. Our first friendly is on Tuesday so will be interesting to see where turns up Tuesday.

Played 60 minutes midweek and is presumably gonna be a second half player today.

You’re literally agreeing with my point… Quigley kicked up a fuss and wanted out, and got his move

Read back to what I said re. Clarke

On second read I've interpreted it differently. You're right.

How did he do? Looks like you struggled. With him being a Halifax lad and us desperate for centre backs I’m sure we’ll be interested.

He came on when we were already 4-1 down, there's been zero impressions from anyone, all a bit miffed at the minute I think.

In amongst a number of trialists at Barnet today we had these:

Gk - Daniel Gyollai (looks very different, not sure if this is confirmed?)
ST - Sam Darby ex Orient Morecambe and Stockport?
RW - Kaziah Sterling
RB - David Sesay formerly of Crawley

A few other yet to be ID’d. Some looked decent - any Barnet fans know who the winger (number 15) and midfielder (white hair Foden-esque, number 19) were? The RB number 4 also looked OK.

Sam Dalby?

He played a few games on loan for us last season, one of the least memorable players I've ever seen. He just could never get himself in the game, in games where we had plenty of ball too. He went on loan to someone else in this league after us, I think it was Woking.

Thats the one. He was pretty anonymous today too although to be fair he was up against virtually Peterborough’s first choice defence in a team full of triallists so it was a tough ask. I can’t say he stood out like the others stated did unfortunately.

Maidenhead had seven trialists on show today and despite the amount of football I watch I didn't recognise any at all.

The only one who I think somebody on here might know from description was a 6'4" beanpole left back. Anyone know who that might be? You don't get too many players with that type of build in that position.

Oh god, surely he’s not back..

I heard a rumour that a Premier League player at one of the country's elite clubs signed a full season loan deal with a NLN club last week but it rather got drowned out by the news of a player who has never played at a higher level than League One signing for another NLN club - just saying.

If it's a U23 with zero chance of making it there then that's not newsworthy. Premier League clubs loan out players to step 2 and sometimes even step 3 all the time. Most PL clubs have very bloated U23 squads.

Our teenage fans on Twitter have been demanding we sign Tshimanga so much that Burchnall has actually been asked about it by the local paper haha.

Is Tshimanga out of contract? . If he is still in contract he will come with a sizable transfer fee

No he’s under contract. Burchnall didn’t actually say it’s nonsense to be fair, just that he wouldn’t talk about someone under contract at another club.

We won’t be signing someone of that profile just to come in as an option off the bench though, put it that way. Still people that haven’t entirely got their heads around that our approach is signing people like Tshimanga before anyone has heard of them. They’ll (rightly ;)) say that we shouldn’t worry about a Mullin or Quigley when we’ve got Roberts and Rodrigues, then demand we sign one anyway and forget where those two came from.

Pringle was a quality player a few years ago, assume he’s past his best now though.

He’s looked alright - played at the back at the weekend, so might have a chance of a contract based on that versatility. Seems like he’s always been quite highly rated but never quite broken through, kind of player we’ll look at. Got another young midfielder called William Hondermarck on trial too who was signed from the League of Ireland by Norwich as an 18 year old. We’ll probably sign one of the two.

Rumour that ex Prem player David Jones is training with us. Hasn't played since being released by Oldham at end of 2020 season, but even then he only played 6 games.

I believe he trained with Barrow but wasn't picked up but given a full pre-season he may be the gristled middle man we need? also to note his family are based in the Wrexham area.

Some good players there. Aren’t Alty part time? How have they managed to get those on trial?!

Edit: Ajay Leitch-Smith and Alex Brown too I see
