I’ve only seen Jones a couple of times back when we were a league team and he was at Crewe, pretty sure he scored against a couple of times, but I think he’s far more like a Davies-type player than a ball winner.
We've got 20 attacking midfielders in the side already so I hope he can drop deeper!

He's just said Jones has signed. Another 3 year deal.

Definitely not a ball winner, that was Paul Green and later Ryan Wintle. Jones never liked a tackle in comparison owing to his poor injury record.

Impressive but slightly odd signing IMO. Wrexham’s midfield looks nothing like what you’d expect from a Phil Parkinson side, maybe he’s a new man.

Looks fancy dan lightweight doesn't it. He's probably going to revert to type and chuck £750k Tozer in midfield though.

On the flip side the Welsh FA can remove suspensions like they did for David Artell just before we faced then in the 2013 play off semi final.... No I'm not still bitter :lac:

you would have still been Jolleyed like we were

You should be, he scored in the first leg. Almost felt sorry for you....

Artell ended up gifting Newport a goal in the final if it helps sooth the pain.

I was going to say. As glad as I was when he scored against Kiddie, I was wishing he was suspended when he let that ball drop over his head in the final.

That Newport game....I still have nightmares. Ormerods miss...

Haven't signed James Jones, but despite playing 36 times in League One last season one fan has decided he's too small for us.

Guess that's the end of that then.
Only 28 starts though. Poor signing.

Joking obviously. Another obscenely good signing. Will be on at least 6k pw.

Jay Harris and Dean Keates were our two best midfielders at this level and both were tiny, and played together.

Is Jay Harris still at Wrexham? Was there last season, wasn't he?

Yeah, nowhere near the player he was mind you so it was rightfully time for him to go. If James Jones is anything like Jay Harris used to be then I'll be over the moon.

They were the ultimate partnership for years down here for us, if we get anyone remotely as good as them we will be fine. Both were quality footballers and were dirty fuckers too. Harris would get 15 yellows a season.

got released, revealed on a podcast yesterday that he played through a misdiagnosed injury for end of the season and he is actually a lot worse off than he thought, lots of muscle tears and the like.

a couple of players have pushed for him to re-sign but he wont be match ready until at least October/November.

You couldn't get more contrast between Two midfielders if you tried. Jones loves a harmless long range shot instead of a tackle.

Will he be any good at this level. Someone just tell me he’s shit.

I'm not writing him off because when fit he was good and he's a team player. But if you expect him to be a marquee signing that wins games on his own then he certainly won't be that type of player.

Fitness is his biggest issue. 60+ games missed in his final 3 years with us. Cost us a lot of money when he failed his medical at Preston too. I wanted him released upon our promotion as I felt we had better midfielders in the squad so I was surprised he got a move to League One after he left us.

Problem with Jones is, if he fails with you he's condemned himself to non league for the rest of his career. I hope it works out because I did like him, but it's a big risk to pay an injury prone lad like him big wages.

Jones was great pre covid and one of the first names on the team sheet. After covid he came back a pale shadow of his former self and looked lost and not on his game at all.

He will be on a decent wedge at Lincoln and with 6 other midfielders putting Jones further down the pecking order, it’s probably a smart piece of business all round if he signs for Wrexham.

Sounds very much to me like all your midfielders are great but are gonna get steamrollered by Billy Big Thug, Incredibly Tall Guy and Asolute Radge Nutter most weeks.

Dunno why people are thinking James Jones is small, he's 6'2" and a decent build. He actually looks like a footballer.

Has he had a growth spurt or something because he was always down as 5ft 9 on our player profile! He'd have stuck out like a sore thumb in our midfield if he was 6ft 2!

He’s 5 ft 9 even on Lincoln’s website.
