Wild's doing with Halifax what Evatt did with Barrow and Askey did with Macclesfield.

For all the good players in their squad Wild is the one Halifax need to keep hold of, his record is seriously impressive. Not just having Halifax consistently.punch above their weight results wise but he's got the ability to both spot a player but also to take players who don't look anything special and get them playing above themselves. That reminds me.of Brian Flynn who was our manager in the 90s and did similar things with us- famous cup wins and consistently up near the play offs in Division 2 (League one) despite the club being run on a shoestring. Also discovering gems like Bryan Hughes, Andy Marriott, Lee Jones, Chris Armstrong, Karl Connolly, Lee Trundle, Andy Morrell etc etc who all played at higher levels.
To be fair he is a brilliant manager, he'd have been a great appointment for us. We just didn't show enough ambition to get it over the line.

You reckon? Can't see past Chesterfield and Stockport meself.

Usually one proper and one tinpotter so his side fit the mould but this year I think two proper bankrolled clubs will do it.

There won’t be a tinpotter going up this year, two Brothers 100%.

Was there ever concrete proof he was on the list. Woodman at Bromley was on the list as well however he said there was no approach didnt he? Wild said in the paper he heard nothing with regards to an approach from Hartlepool.

Wild seems like a smart man, when he does leave and he will do in the not too distant future he'll pick a job that suits him.

Not all Wild I dont think it's a team effort. We have a good scout currently who was with us a few years ago helped scout out players like Lee Gregory and Jamie Vardy to name just a couple. He's back on our books now. Obviously everyone is looking for the next non league gem these days so they are harder to find but as a group they seem to have plucked out some good ones

Obviously Wild coaches them to get the best out of them on matchday. Players like Jordan Slew as well who I recall was in the shit strikers thread after we signed him as chipped in with 7 goals to date. Even I wouldnt have seen that one coming

That’s why you won’t go up mate. Starting Jordan Slew in matches. Useless.

He's like bambi on ice at times however he's actually steadily improved as the season has gone on. Wild's getting the best out of him.

I highly doubt we even thought about him to be honest, we would have to pay compo and that's not something Raj Singh would do.

Will Atkinson's 6 month contract is up in Jan, so hopefully he will be on the move and, we can get another younger replacement into midfield.

Do you think there might be a chance Connor Jennings could be up for grabs, Stockport fans?

Potentially but you'd probably have to pay a fee. Since coming back from illness Challinor has almost immediately got him back into matchday squads. He's not an starter for us and he's a great lad part of the squad but if there was good money offered we may consider.

Yeah potentially he might be. Last season Pre-cancer he was very poor (obviously we don’t how much that was potentially due to illness) and the rumour was Gannon wanted to get rid of him and replace him with Warburton but the DOF wanted a bigger name and we eventually got Madden.

It kind of feels he needs some regular games at this point but Quigley, Madden and Crankshaw are ahead of him and we’ve been on the lookout for a back-up targetman all season so should imagine we’ll bring one in at some point which would see him struggle to make the 16 when everybody is fit.

While Jennings might leave I would imagine Alex Reid is even more likely to depart.

Sorry to be a pedant, yes he took a chance on Marriott, but he also spent £200k on him!

The rest were either homegrown or pittance I agree

We are being linked with striker Luke Charman at Darlington who looks to have a good record this season. Anyone know anything about him?

You, Rochdale, Solihull Moors and AFC Fylde amongst others are apparently interested. 24 years old spent his whole youth career at Newcastle, 11 goals in 15 appearances this season. Contracted through to summer 2023 so should hopefully generate a decent fee if he goes.

Scored all sorts of goals so far this season, first 8 or 9 of the season are in the tweet below.

That is true, and that was a lot of money back then (up until this summer was that our highest fee paid?) the way he convinced Marriott to play for us (a year after playing in the League Cup final for Forest) is very Wildesque though.

I'm always wary of compilations like that but he certainly looks a finisher which is exactly what we need. Reckon he could make the step up to league two?

Yeah I know what you mean. Main point was the variety of goals he's scored this season. Out the box, in the box, tap ins, left foot, right foot, headers. He's proven he can do it all.

Think he's ready for League 2 no problem, he's had to do a lot himself this season so think with better players around him he'll get better again. Got to consider as well, he's currently only training 2 evenings a week. Think there's far more to come from him when he can be in the gym and on the training pitch daily.

We'll be gutted to see him go, but now seems like the right time for the lad to go test himself higher. And we got him tied to a 2 year deal in the summer so should get a decent fee for him. With the number of teams sniffing around could be a bit of a bidding war.

Burchnall was very complimentary about him specifically after we played you. Would worry me a bit though, we already have a million technically gifted young attacking midfielders, would probably mean we’re selling one.

I have no names, but a few of our fans were at Concorde Rangers today and chatted to Ollie Kensdale, who was also watching. He seemed pretty confident that another couple of players would be inbound this week.

Will wait with anticipation.....

Shame about Rowe, fingers crossed whatever it is is able to be sorted. If he does have to retire, at least it's come towards the back end of his career.

His loan expired today. Yes in answer to your question. Shone at our place. With better players around him, he will go from strength to strength. If he signs his old man is Borat, when he appears on your clubs forum (wink). Nice guy

Tell the poor man not to go near Notts Mad under any circumstances.

Is he more of a natural centra midfielder btw? Would make me less worried if so, the ones we do have are generally good but we have no real depth there at all so might make some sense.

Yes, creative mid. Best in the middle. Did play out wide a couple of tes through necessity.
