Going to say, does this mean a Roberts / Rodrigues could be on their way ? :dk:

I can’t see anyone signing Roberts, he’s on a long contract and has been decent but not as much of a stand-out as he was before injury. Rodrigues will have loads of interest, though, but if we were to sell him I would think we’d want a permanent replacement to come in and develop rather than a loan so hoping Brunt will just be another option. That said, Blackburn seem most interested in him and you could hardly begrudge him that kind of move. Vincent is probably another clubs will be looking at now as well.

Wootton is most likely to leave IMO due to his contract situation, but then for the sake of a small fee we might as well accept he’ll go on a free and hope he can get us promoted.

That's all good and well until its Wrexham come in with an offer, he'll down tools if you refuse to let them speak to him

Nice find Dan, reminds me when we were a football team. Good turnout as well, as you would expect when we were top of the table, as we had the two sections in the main stand. The one over the players tunnel and the one to the left.

Nowt from our end, but I think the Wrexham lads said that one of their ITK people reckoned they’d made numerous bids and they’d all been turned down, and he’s been fine through that. Obviously Wrexham are going to be a draw for players with the owners and the money they’ll off, but I would like to think RR and his agent are looking for a move to a much higher level. I wouldn’t be massively surprised to see him go back to Holland tbh, although I have no idea if mid-table Eredivisie clubs are into paying fees haha.

Are both Wootton and Rodrigues OOC in the summer then? Have you got other players in a similar situation?

Wootton is out of contract in the summer, Rodrigues has another year, as do Vincent, Cameron, Roberts and Palmer who are the obvious other saleable assets we have. We’ve only sold one or two players for a fee in like fifteen years, it’s weird having so many at the same time.

It was a joke, a shit one granted, from all the 'hope we bid for Tshimanga just to unsettle him' Wrexham talk. In all seriousness, in terms of this window, I can see Wootton going to a L1 side for a nominal fee. He's always good but he's really warming up just at the wrong time for you. Honestly he'll be a nightmare to replace, I'm sure you've got other good players, but seem quite reliant on Wootton from the outside looking in, he seems central to everything good you do

There was a thread about this on our forum over which of Wootton and Rodrigues you’d sell if we had to lose one, and it was pretty split, but personally I’d keep Ruben every time. Wootton is really good, but I think he’s basically a good lower league target man, and you might be able to find another one of those somewhere. Rodrigues can play in midfield or upfront and, whichever he’s playing in, scores at the rate of a decent forward and assists at the rate of a very good midfielder. I think we’d have to change our system if we sold him, whereas Wootton you could try and directly replace.

That's fair enough reasoning but when I think Notts goals, big goals, at big moments, I think Kyle Wootton, nobody else. Just a proper baller, you don't get many strikers who can play target man, but score for fun, link up the play, but more importantly, show up when it really matters. Good luck just finding another one of them halfway through the season at the drop of a hat

The only criticism I really have of Wootton is he never scores away. Two this season (and none since Wrexham in August), and two in the whole of last season. No idea why, he’s an absolute machine at Meadow Lane, 26 home goals in a season and a half.

That's quite astonishing, is it a play style difference away? Just thinking Wootton is hardly the best counter attack striker

Honestly don’t know - it’s not like he noticeably plays any worse away and last season I think we actually ended (like loads of teams) with a better away record than home. But you do naturally tend to get less concerted pressure and crosses into the box away, I guess, which he thrives on rather than running onto the ball. Rodrigues is the other way round, 8 of his 9 goals this season have been away. Maybe just a weird coincidence.

I’d certainly keep Wootton of the two (even though I think Rodrigues is the better player and I’d bet will go on to play at a higher level than Wootton ultimately), mainly as I think mobile targetmen who aren’t complete donkeys in front of goal are relatively impossible to find at this level. I also have a theory that if Rodrigues went you’d get more out of Roberts as he could play further forward rather than being asked to play as an 8 in midfield.

If Zak Brunt is a midfielder isn't it more likely that Palmer or Vincent are moving. Unless he's being lined up to play on the right when Richardson's loan expires.

Barrow[edit]

Wooton signed for Barrow on the 3rd January. The striker claimed he had “unfinished business” to attend to in his first press conference for the club.

Danny Elliot at Boston and Luke Charman at Darlo are being linked with us.

Charman seems unlikely as he wants to play in the Football League, plus would command a fee so I'd fully imagine Bradford (also rumoured) to be able to blow us out the water.

Danny Elliot is apparently in the Damien-Reeves-got-a-well-paid-part-time-job mould so not sure how likely that is either.

Chimpunx must have taken our loss to County really badly.

We had Danny Elliot last season for a short period, I would've liked to see more of him but League footy was probably a step too far for him at that time.

As for Charman you've little to no chance, contracted at the loids till next season so they're anticipating a decent transfer fee for him.

We’ve apparently rejected a bid for Kieran Green from Morecambe. He’s an absolute machine. Crucial we keep hold of him. He’s contracted till 2023 so would take a decent fee I imagine.

Morecambe may have some cash if they sell Stockton as seems likely.

He impressed me watching you yesterday and struck me as a perfect player to rotate with Croasdale and Collar but I imagine L1 would trump us easily.

I don't think the fee is necessarily the problem for us with Charman, as our owners have said there's money to spend on the right players. I think 100-150k will get him if he's as good as people are saying, which probably isn't out of our reach. I think the fact that he wants to play in the league is what will prove to knock us out of the running.

I reckon Andrew's will stay with you for the rest of the season. We do need to bring in another forward. However Andrew's is unlikely to be recalled.
Strong rumours that Harry Panayiatou is returning to us - got released from Livingston a couple of weeks ago and was at the game yesterday. Probably means Corie Andrews is heading back to AFC Wimbledon.
