If he was spitting his dummy out because we didn't let him move to a club in the League during the transfer window then I could understand his frustration.

But he can fuck off if he wants to move to Barrow. Show some ambition ffs.

Given that he's always spoken about getting into the FL, too. He might still end up there, but, as you say, moving to Barrow suggests one thing and one thing only.

I don't think he should be making things obvious like he is. We took a two year punt on a player who had only had one season as a full time pro, and lists Barrow, Telford and Droylsden as his former Clubs. We've given him a good platform here both in terms of security and how we play.

He can leave as far as I'm concerned, his attitude has been appalling recently, as evidenced by him not turning up on the pitch since about November. If he wants to rot in Conference North for the rest of his career then so be it.

Nolan's exactly the same, turns up when he wants to, not surprised they got relegated with Stockport.

Yep we did warn you. At least you guys aren't in a relegation battle.

Apparently we are going to be signing this Newton chap on loan and then permanently in the summer. I can't recall him from previous seasons although I'm sure we must have payed against him on quite a few occassions.

Must admit I'm a big fan of our current left back Scott Griffiths so I'm not particularly enthused by this rumour, convince me otherwise any Lincoln fans?

Depends what you want in your full back.

If you're after a very good attacking LB who is better going forwards than backwards, with a good set piece on him, a good crosser from open play, who has 40 odd assists to his name in 18 months then you've got the right chap.

If you want a LB to first and foremost be able to defend, doesn't leave you open on the left hand side because of how involved he gets going forward and struggles against pace, Newton's not the one for you.

You'll also stifle his game if you play with a winger in front of him. If he had more pace, he'd get away with not being great defensively and be able to recover and one the same point, he'd probably not be in the Conference either.

Spot on Luke couldn't of summed the guy up better myself, had a typical Newts game last week v Dover struggled defensively and was bailed by a team mate more than once but yet again set up the winning goal.

Doesn't seem to match up with the 4231 we play then. Bit concerning if he is being found out in defence in the conference as we are primarily built on rock solid defence this season.

Saying that we could do with someone providing some creativity, that's desperately needed! We'll see I guess, cheers both.

Seems it's happening/happened with LB Jordan Cranston coming the other way on loan.

He had complete nightmare playing for Nuneaton against us towards the end of last season and was substituted at half time. An incomplete nightmare? Really struggled against Theo Bailey Jones on the wing. To be fair to Cranston, it was one of those once in a blue moon games where Theo showed his potential. Apparently he played alright in pre-season a couple of times for us and some of our fans thought we should sign him.

We had him in on trial in preseason; I was surprised he got a deal there.

You were stupid not to sign him then. He's looked capable every time he's put a Notts shirt on, especially defensively. It's purely a numbers thing really, Blair Adams is first-choice and Cranston was back-up - Newton signing (again, no idea why we've even signed a left-back tbh) means he's way down the pecking order now.

I'd have absolutely no idea how he wouldn't be too good for non-league but sometimes it works out like that. Based on what I've seen of him though he'll do a cracking job for Lincoln.

As for Newton, lord knows. Can he play as a winger? It'd be bizarre to replace Blair Adams (who has probably been our motm for the last 2 games running) with someone jumping up 2 divisions and is 3 years older. Just seems to be a case of us really liking him enough to forget about the players we have already I suppose. Guessing there's a view to a permanent move too considering his contract situation.

Could try but I doubt it'll work. We tried as a wing back but that didn't work either because his starting position ended up being the space that he'd usually exploit being a full back.

Do you play with wingers?

We do...sort of. I dunno, we don't really have a system if I'm honest, we've been tinkering all season due to the high player turnover and injuries etc...but since Hayhurst came in Jan he's played on the left-wing every game. Our left-back Adams gets forward a lot because Hayhurst has a tendency to come inside due to his lack of pace and it leaves a lot of space for Adams who is quick and skilful but doesn't have the best crossing - so that'd suit Newton I suppose. I just can't see why we'd get a replacement in for Adams at left-back, he's 23 with another year left on his deal and has been in good form recently.

Could do with a set-piece taker though, Hayhurst's corners are good but Gary Jones' free-kicks are shite.

Similar-ish to us, then. We have Tomlinson who drifts inside because he's not a winger.

Yeah, sounds like Newton is the exact opposite to Adams - good crosser but not particularly pacey.

Newts dead ball delivery and crossing ability are superb, god knows how many goals he's set up in his time here, normally played a part in one goal per game for us. Good luck to him at 26 he needs to grab his chance with both hands, wonder if his ankle problem will clear in time for him to play tomorrow?

We haven't got a game tomorrow, next game is Tuesday and he took part in training this morning so looks like his ankle is alright. I wouldn't expect him to play anyway ahead of Adams anytime soon, hence why it's a weird transfer and there *has* to be some sort of alternate plan like playing Adams on the wing or something (which would still be a bit weird and unnecessary)

You need to register on the Wrexham forum to view posts which is annoying. What are the Wrexham fans views on todays game?

I'm trying to keep positive of beating a team thatTelford thumped 4-0 away, but our record against 'big' teams away from home this season isn't brilliant.

Draw would of been fair, both missed chances, both played reasonably well
