I bet Barrow probably feel as used as we do. All to avoid playing Grimsby. Wood clearly has moved from playing for them unlike Hearn.
He has 18 games to prove himself to us, the players and management that he deserves to stay.
Be interesting if we do somehow make the playoffs and we end playing Grimsby!!!!

The way the majority of our fans are crawling back to him on Twitter is absolutely disgusting, vomit-inducing.

Lincolnshire folk are simpletons in most cases.

Can only assume Barrow have decided they don't want to offer him a contract?

He blocked a fair few.
He needs to hit the ground running, which I doubt having not played since November 28th!

Yeah, fans aren't happy with the "joining Barrow was a mistake" quote. What a tool he's made himself look. I could have understood the move if it was to make it permanent, but to get fitness and game time in a month when he was ineligible for two games anyway, what a muppet.
Looked a decent player in the 80 minutes he was on the pitch.

Can only assume Barrow have decided they don't want to offer him a contract?

The fact that he was "ill" ahead of the last game suggests to me he probably couldn't be arsed with the travelling. I'm sure we would have had him, because we're lacking a good striker to partner Cook. Signed a young lad the other day though, so maybe Cox decided he didn't need one on three times the wages.

It's obvious he just wanted to get away from the club to avoid the Grimsby game. Really odd, but there you go.

Did hear that Barrow chairman/owner was overheard saying that you had offered him £900 a week compared to the £500 a week he's getting here.
Got a lot of making up to do.

Haha. It seems he really does have a problem playing against us. I'd tear his contract up right now, it would at least show him what an arse he is.

If that's the case then it's breach of contract. But would obviously be hugely difficult to prove.

He's a little shit, he can play out the last 4/5 months here then leave. He's come out of this looking like an utter tool.

There is no way Blissett will get a contract here mate, sorry for you lot but I doubt even without Hearn coming crawling back to the club, anything would have changed that. We also have a bit of money to spend so I imagine CM can shop elsewhere than Aldi bargain bin basement for once.

Blissett to sign for us, then.

Conor Townsend any good Grimsby fans?

Apparently we're in for him when his loan finishes. :fish:
According to The Hull Daily Mail there are "a host of clubs" interested. I would absolutely love it if he extends for the season, as he has been great for us. I think it's unlikely if there are options in L1/L2, but he hasn't had the best of times straying too far from home on other loan moves. There's a slight chance he might appreciate the locality of being with us. He's guaranteed a first team place here too. If he goes we still have Gregor Robertson though, who is a very capable full back for this level so it's not the end of the world.

Any truth in the rumour that Mackreth is leaving Grimsby? Mentioned on the Barrow forum, but not too likely it'll be us he comes to after the way he left. Possibly even better than Clee, IMO.

Mills might want to sign Makreth. He's got a thing for Wingers.

He really wants Nicky Clee but no way anyone in this league could afford him.
Unless something is going on behind the scenes, like an Aswad Thomas or Scott Neilson attitude problem situation, I can't see us letting Mackreth go. We only really have him, Arnold, Marshall and Monkhouse who can play out wide and Monkhouse is not a traditional winger like the others are. Admittedly, Mackreth hasn't seen as much action as he would like of late but he scored in the trophy against Solihull when Hurst asked the fringe/bench players to stand up and be counted, so I'm sure there will be opportunities on the horizon for him.

Conor Townsend is obviously good enough to play in the league and although we can't offer league football YET, we can still offer him an "almost" guaranteed place in the starting line-up and I would like to think he'd rather play in a team fighting for promotion rather than a midtable League 2 team. I'm sure the reception he received when he left the pitch on Monday will have made him realise how much us fans appreciate him and for once, on this occasion, our location could help in our favour.

I say, stick with us until the end of the season Conor and then we'll give you league football next season.

According to our forum, Lincoln are taking Patrick Brough on loan. I've not seen anything official though.

Who?? Position?? Age?? Etc ta muchly :)
His primary position is left full-back, though he's been deployed as a left winger/wing-back on the odd occasion. He's only a young lad, came through our academy a couple of seasons ago. He ended last season in great form, with many fans expecting big things this season, but he's hardly featured and looks low on confidence.

I reckon he'd be a good signing for this level.

We need a left back and someone with pace would be a huge bonus as we lack pace throughout the team.

Yeah, definitely need one. We've not got a proper LB in the squad. Beevers is more a RB, Bush a CB and Tempest, who's played the last game or two at LB, is a CM.

I'm assuming that'll release Beevers to either RB and Wood into midfield or Beevers into CB.

Andy Mangan allegedly left Rovers and heading back to Shrewsbury.

Meanwhile, we're linked with some Grimsby player called Brown. Is he crap enough to fit in a Brabin side, Mariners fans?

Richard Brodie was back watching Southport today (and his missus was working the bar again), this despite Aldershot having a match too. Surely not...

Scott Brown? Our player of the season a couple of years ago. Runcorn-based, but banned from driving. I'd have him back here in a heartbeat.

I'm still baffled as to why Neil Young released Scott Brown after we won the Conference North. After shipping Dennis out to Macc from County, it's probably his weirdest decision.

As with the Mackreth situation above, we don't have a wealth of central midfielders so unless there is a rift going on behind the scenes with Hurst or we bring someone else in, I would be surprised to see us let Brown go. However out of all our players, he is arguably the one most likely to be involved in some kind of bad feeling behind the scenes due to him being arrested for drink driving earlier in the season. He seems to be in a weird state of having been semi-forgiven by Hurst, whereby he is now on the bench consigned to bit part roles and not being given any starts despite the fact that Disley and Clay haven't been in particularly great form of late. I would be disappointed if we didn't give him more chances to prove his worth as he is certainly good enough to hold down a place in a promotion chasing side.
