What he really means is, 'we're moving away from short term loans because we have to, due to the change in loan rules next season'.

Yes you are.

Yes you are. Next he will be claiming you're not tinpot either :pmsl:

Clearly neither of you can read. It's in black and white. We clearly aren't going to pay over the odds, and will only spend sensibly. If we do well people won't be able to say it's because of our massive budget anymore.

"I think every agent thinks at Forest Green there's a gravy train there and loads of money," Cooper said.
"From the outside everybody thinks that, but that's not the case.
"I want to bring in some real good characters, not just people that are coming for a payday or an easy life."
"We're trying to run things properly and correctly, and any player that comes in certainly won't be for money only," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"They want to come and progress their careers. If they don't want to and they're just coming to sit on a contract, they're not right for us.

If you're a murderer, do you go out and say that you murder people?

The only bit that's in black and white is 5.4 million in debt.

Also, the word JUST is key to Coopers statement. They can't JUST be there for a pay day, they have to be a character as well. Still there for a pay day though.

You're just twisting his words. It's crystal clear what he's saying. We are not going to be spunking money on mercenaries, and like last season our budget will be no where near the biggest in the league.

If we do well it wont be because we're throwing unsustainable amounts of money at it.

A Director of Football for a part time side?! Well that's one way to get some more money for the budget!

Chapple was previously the commercial manager before we got a proper one. He helps GH and Thommo with football 'stuff' when he's not in the club shop selling mousemats and keyrings. He's Mr Woking FC and still wants to be involved. One of the few people at the club who is on a salary. If we want to save money we should get Slaphead as our groundsman. He'd be significantly cheaper than what we've currently got.

He'd look daft if he's done that after publically coming out and saying it was nonsense. He's not even been in the country all week so don't believe it myself.

You are in denial,.... why dont you just admit that you are trying to buy success, there's plenty of clubs doing it to differing degrees, I cant understand the reason you seem to be trying to deny its happening, any other club £5.4 in debt would have gone bust ages ago. The longer it goes on without success the more desperate Mr Veggie seems to get.

When he gets bored you will be AFC Nailsworth.

All it says is that Cooper won't be held to ransom by players thinking FGR are a gravy train (which is going to be hard for him but is an attitude to be applauded). It doesn't mean you aren't moneybags. The fact that you are able to carry 5.4 mil of debt would suggest you are.

From what I know, a lot of money was being paid out to agents in DV/Ecotricity's first couple of years of ownership who were taking advantage of the lack of footballing knowledge on our board to get their players and themselves ridiculous deals, but now they have started to wisen up and there are genuine moves to start to try and change our reputation and the way we operate. What Cooper says just backs that up.

It's absolutely the right route to take.

The Wrexham fan who claimed they'd seen him at Racecourse must have been a WUM then. I hope so.
He's been with us longer than he's been with anyone else, so maybe he fancies a change.

It's fine by me FGR can carry on until the cows come home trying to buy success, as for us we might just go and show them how to do it properly.:£:£:£

Actual quotes from a man who dropped to non-league for £3k a week.

We're close to signing Nick Wilmer-Anderton on a permanent deal after he was released by Preston.
He's been great in both spells here, and judging by the "Left-Back of the Season" topic, I reckon he'll be among the best in the league next season.
